Detailed Reviews
I stayed here during October 2014. Hotel phamrong is located strategically at upper pelling, just opposite to SBI ATM and couple of car rentals. It is possible to walk down to the best attraction of Pelling, i.e., pemayangtse monastery. I booked this hotel using their website which is outsourced to ezeecloud. During booking I was told that this 5 storey hotel has an elevator, which was a key criteria for me as I had 2 senior citizens travelling with me. On reaching the hotel, I realized that none of the hotel in Pelling has an elevator (as told by Phamrong's hotel manager). We however managed one room in 1st floor and another at 4th floor. the 4th floor room had an adjoining terrace which had broken glasses everywhere and could of broken chairs!! Restuarant was on the basement, so lunch and dinner was quite an exercise. Room was large (I booked a suite room), but very shabbily organized. Overall, would recommend to look for alternatives if you can. Not worth the money paid!!

This was a budget hotel for us where we had the tarriff considerably discounted as we arrived in the offseason.
The room was fine, albeit basic and damp, that is only due to the weather in the rainy season.
Tv didnt work, we were a little bored, pelling itself had only 1 restaurant open in off season and hotel refused to make us breakfast or anything.
The staff were nice, assisted us to get a bus back to Gangtok, etc.
In high seSon the rooms would be very overpriced in my opinion.
My main bugbear-when we checked out, another group of people staying there were being served breakfast in their room, there was a menu card in room. But all they would serve us was tea, why did they get and not us?
Good location in the small village centre and plenty of books to read, its the small things that let this hotel down, even if it was heavily discounted.

We reached this hotel a day after the region witnessed heavy landslides. After inspection of many rooms which were super dirty we finally managed to stay in a room where we could manage. For dinner these guys did not have groceries. So we were asked to order by 7 pm so that they can purchase the groceries and serve us dinner by 9 pm.
Because of the landslides all sight-seeing routes were closed and as the hotel was not up to the mark we decided to check out mid-way. Our reservation was for 5 days and we checked out on the second day. The manager there had agreed to returning us the money for the remaining three days. But since we had booked through an online website our money was supposed to be refunded back to us by the hotelier to them.
Till date I have called the hotel more than ten times. Each time the manager responds that he would do it soon but it has not happened. I do not even expect that it will happen. The hotel management is corrupt and completely unprofessional. Stay here at your risk.
And we had complimentary breakfast in our booking. The second day when we reached in their restaurant half an hour after the breakfast should have actually started, these guys did not have enough groceries again. We were told that the groceries were consumed by the hotel staff the previous night. So if you still plan to stay here better stay at home.

What can I describe a hotel which gave me a bill of 3080 and the carbon copy of the same bill with the hotel says 2600 ?
My bill says 2800 + 10% tax , hotel's bill says 2800 - 200(less for not having electricity)
Disgusting Hotel Manager called - "Neema" - pocketed that 480 bucks by overwriting the bills.
This hotel has no electricity backup. I stayed in power blackout for 2 days. After first day there was no water even. Water was made available if I go to the reception and ask for it. The manager persuaded me to book cab from him as he will give discount. I did that for 2500 whereas when I asked for the rates from 3 different tour agencies I found its supposed to be 1400. The great hotel Manager "Neema" is the biggest cheat I have found till date.
I hope the hotel MD is aware of how this person is cheating everyone.
My verdict, please stay away from this. Its pathetic. Food is also bad. You'll have only bitter memories here.

We have been there in 1st week of june-2009. we went after a 3 days trip in gangtok...and its a nice experience over there.
bur after reaching there we were simply shocked..we booked the hotel for 3 nights with full payment from kolkata , the location of the hotel is good, but after getting into the hotel room it was just shocking. the beds and blankets are pathetic. we went there on afternoon, nearly at 1.30 . after reaching when we asked for the lunch..there was nothing. we were with our 2 yrs kid, and we need to go out for search of food then. they were not at all co operative...the room was dull..with poor light and a worst TV without cable. the food was also horrible, we were so sad in our vaccation that the very next day we just change our hotel.despite of 3 days booking.
we just leave the hotel...pls If you do not want to spoil ur holiday ..DON't GO TO HOTEL PHAMRONG

For knowing about Phamrong, I did not had to travel.....I called them for enquiring rates. First of all they(Mr Ankit Upadhyay of their department) quoted me wrong rates and after that a lady gave me a call that those rates were wrong and gave me much higher rates. I was shocked to see her behaviour with her customers as if she was obliging me by giving room> this is extremely not the behaviour to do with any of your customer.
This hotel needs to change their staff or at least train them basic ethics of hotel management for upgrading their hotel sales.

I liked the hotel and though it is small, you felt at home. Rooms are not high class and you do not complain because the best scenery is outside the room. Food is OK though I found the restaurant very dimly lit and short of moving space. Location is A Class just opposite to the ATM of SBI.
