This place is like a dream. It feels like you are in Disneyland or some other fantasy land. It has everything you would want on a hill station. Retreat and Spa is better than Resort. Restaurant also serves great food.

Stayed at Nobru Gang Retreat in last week of December. If you consider location as your top priority in choosing a hotel then this hotel will be the best choice.Rooms are large along with large toilets. Decor is very good. I have stayed there in Astor which is not very far from the dinning area. Pl select a room while booking which is not far from dinning area otherwise every time you have to walk a long which sometimes you may not like especially in winter time. I have not liked the buffet spread. it was short and you will get really any choice. Hospitality was good. 2 nights and 3 days you can spend easily otherwise you may feel bore because this resort does not offer you any activity to do in the day time.

I booked the hotel for my family before 4 months of travel date and pay advance also. however, due to unavoidable situation I have to cancell the booking with one week. Fromo that day onwards I am contacting hotel but I didnt receive back the advance. The moment they knew about cancellation they stopped picking up call also.

- Very very old property.. Near to zero maintenance.
When you enter you see a Air India Retired lady in front office to greet you, we were the only guests (most probably) , still she wants to see all my documents and then they wanted Election ID card - photo copy (They dont have facility to photo copy).
I gave my DL but she insisted on Election ID.
Asked for WIFI password, NO WIFI working
It was raining - No umbrella
Super cold -6 degrees ( Heater not working)
We were just keeping our patience in control.
We had taken a Meal Plan ( Cost about 11000 for a family). They dont serve you veg pulao or biryani etc. if you want you will be charged extra. else settle with Steam rice that comes in package.

Breakfast timing was 7.3 to 9. we reached at 8.15 and were asked to wait for another 15 minutes . The entire place was vacant (Zero human).
We finally got our breakfast at 9.30 AM ( pathetic quality)

I think they are running the place for the sake of running it. high time to shut down. Just because you have a big property and a big name (historical), you can not continue fooling people . Time to close down the place . or make it a budget hotel , your hotel is not worth more than 499/- per day . Tie up with OYO.

Highly disappointed after having wonderful stay at Mount Sinolchu at Gangtok

If I have to point out one thing about our sikkim holidays , that would be our night at Norbu Ghang Resort . The place is badly managed, dingy and useless staffs. The place is expensive and we were sulking the whole night on why did we tried to save couple of thousands and chose this place instead of elgin which was recommended . The bedspreads are old , the bathrooms are like really old and ill mannered , the whole place is like it will fall soon since its kept so badly. however it was CLEAN. The staffs all without uniforms , unhygienic looking , Food was really bad thouhg we had only breakfast there , the bhaturas were no different from lijjat papad , even Pyaj pakoda which was available so readily and yummy across our journey was spoiled here, raw, cold real bad !! I guess they have tie up with agents and agencies cos the whole lot of foreign tourists were there , I wonder what they will think of our food :( :( gloriously screwed up ! Only saving grace there was a clear morning which gave us exceptionally good view of kanchajunga right from the balcony and the hotel terrace and thanks to that.

Staying at the hotel was like a nightmare come true. The rooms are small and dingy. Forget hot water since the old water heaters they have can only heat water which lasts for 1 minute ata a time. Once the 1 minute is over, one has to wait for 45 mins again to get 1 minute of hot water. The room lighting is like horror movie hotel rooms. The TV is old 21" CRT TV (reminded me of my childhood) and not even a flat TV.

Regular power cuts during evenings. The backup power system takes 15 mins to come up and during that time one can enjoy total darkness in the room or scramble for a matchbox and get tax rebate on medical expenses if he/she breaks a limb or two.

If only I knew, I would not have paid Rs.6500/- for this dingy hotel room.

Do NOTE there are TWO properties in the same location at differnet heights. Hence, you have the Norbu Ghang Resort which is at a lower height and then you have the Norbu Ghang Retreat & Spa which is much higher and offer a majestic view of the Kanchenjungas. Unfortunately, although under the same management & colocated the two properties offer completely different experience. Norbu Ghang Resort's rooms are small, cramped and dirty while the rooms in Norbu Ghang Retreat are spacious and well maintained. The quality of service in the Resort is pathetic and the front office staff really dont care about the customers. They are unfriendly, rude and making unaccounted money seems to be prevalent with the front office staff. The kitchen offers decent food but you have to preorder any delicacies even Momos!
The rooms offfer a good view but its charm is lost because they are cramped & shabby. Not a hotel to relax and unwind unless you are on a shoe string budget.

the ones on the lower side (deluxe rooms) are near the reception area and closer to the park dining area. they also offer good kanchenjunga views right from room itself. the ones on the higher ground offer great views of the valley and kanchenjunga but are far from the reception and dining area.
