Stayed two nights with family in cottage room. Very spacious with a large balcony. Neat and clean linens and we'll organised interior. Bonfire is also there in room but it's like a showpiece and not for actual use. They also don't provide any warmers like bed warmer or heaters if needed. It's in the nature so expect flies and bugs so keeping the door shut always is best solution. One can enjoy the chirping of birds in the morning time. The view from these cottages are the best bet. They have large open area, parking lot as well. Food is of average taste but breakfast spread was nice. Staff is very friendly and quick in nature. They tries to arrange everything possible. They arranged cakes and other things for my co-travellers wedding anniversary. This cottage is best for honeymooners as well as for family with kids.…
I am about to stay in this hotel from 09th May to 11th May 2022 and have already experience an unmatched service standards. I really appreciate Ms, Alisha and Ms Pinky from contact and reservation desk. This has made me more excited and I am looking forward to your hospitality. though booked through MMT, we had some emergency and both the ladies made sure that we as customer don't suffer. Unmatchable service from both these ladies. Please keep up the good work.
Firstly, the resort does not give you reservations, if you enquire directly. Better to search online. Secondly for a resort that's 5 years old they could have done much better. The rooms are good and cosy. However if you are travelling with kids, it could be difficult. They do not have many amenities, which are kid friendly like umbrellas, room heaters etc. Also, not much activities to do in the resort. They just have a swing and a slide. Practically nothing else. So you cannot call it a resort. The best thing in d resort is the food. Whatever they cooked, it was fantastic. A good resort in pelling, but keep expectations low.
Perched in Lower Pelling about 2 kms from the taxi stand, the property is fabulous and truly deserves the 4 star rating. Service is immaculate and a-la-carte menu is also lovely. The view of the ranges are kind of restricted from the property but Mt. Kanchendzonga is visible in all its glory right in front.
Location, location, location! A hundred stars for the breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga mountains. Overall, the hotel is very nice and cute, with rooms built in a cottage style. Very clean. Very hospitable and courteous staff. Pretty good food. My only complaint is I wish they had a larger room heater. I visited in February and it was freezing cold.
I visited this property ( Magpie Chestnut ) with my family on the 26th of December, 2021 . Apart from being a very nice place with beautiful views all around , what struck out most was the impeccable hospitality that was bestowed on us by the head of operations , Ms Indu Chettri . She went out of her way to provide us with each and every assistance one can imagine of , taking care of every whim we threw her way . A truly dedicated employee of the organisation.
I travelled to Sikkim in the winter of 2021 with my partner for 3 nights and stayed at this property. Right at the outset, we were greeted very warmly by Ms. Indu, efficiently managing the reception desk of the said property. In fact, even before we had arrived, I was contacted by her to check as to when our arrival time would be and if we were facing any difficulties in locating the said property. She spoke separately with our driver, guided him and the check-in experience was seamless. The room was absolutely clean and the facilities on offer were exactly as they were advertised on the website. The bathroom was clean with all the essentials well stocked up. There is running hot water for the entire day. Towels were changed everyday. The room had a room heater too. The service staff were warm, friendly and extremely helpful. The food was good. However, the dinner spread (pre-paid) had limited offerings for non-vegetarian consumers like us. But overall, we had nothing to complain much about. The property has a steady power back-up facility, which we realised during one of the brief power cuts during our stay there. The views from the said property are spectacular, to say the least. Ms. Indu was personally very helpful, including guiding us with the necessary information about a paragliding experience. My partner took a liking to a traditional Sikkimese dress and had enquired about it with her. In addition to offering her with all the help and guidance, she was extremely kind to gift her one such dress, a gesture which is much appreciated and shall remain with us forever. Overall, our experience in Pelling shall always be memorable because of the hospitality that we were offered by the said property. We strongly recommend fellow travellers to consider the said property for their stay in Pelling.…
Magpie has 2 properties in Pelling. I was more inclined towards Chestnut… Rooms are with balcony and without balcony and both can give you a beautiful view of the mighty Kanchenjunga range… checkin was very smooth and they have complimentary room heaters to keep you warm at lower temperatures. My stay had breakfast and dinner both included and I found the dinner spread selection better than the breakfast. Location and wooden interiors you will fall in love with
I visited pelling with my wife and kid. The approach road to this hotel is in bad shape. However you won't regret it after reaching this beautiful resort. After all there is no point staying close to main road/market in a hotel which doesn't offer magnificent view of kanchanjungha. The hotel has got good private parking facility unlike many others which generally is an issue at hill stations. The hotel staff specially "Uddeshya" was generous enough to offer us the best possible cottage room as we were first one to check in on that day and rest all cottage rooms were not yet occupied. The room balcony opens a mesmerizing view of Mt kanchenjungha. The one man army "Wangden" cheerfully takes care of all your house keeping stuff. The breakfast spread is not lavish but delicious and basic. After all the luxury of buffet spread at urban hotels should not be expected at pelling. The market is little far from hotel , but you can always ask reception staff to arrange a taxi. Moreover it's better to book it through hotel reservations. You might get some good deals. Overall for me the highlight of pelling was this calm, peaceful and scenic stay at Magpie chestnut retreat.…
Pelling happens to be one of our favourite destinations in Sikkim, thanks to the clear view of the Kangchenjunga it offers, which is why we've visited this town a couple of times. This time, we chose to stay at The Magpie Chestnut Retreat, because it seemed to look very nice on the internet! And rightly so! The property is positioned beautifully amidst the tranquil woods and every cottage has a balcony, which gives a direct view of the majestic Kangchenjunga. Even if you choose to spend the day at the hotel and relax, there's a lovely garden outside the cottages and well spaced out view-points/seating areas to just look at the mountains and listen to the birds chirping! The staff was quite courteous and polite. The food was delicious and they even included a local dish at the buffet spread, which was very nice to experience. All in all, the experience was great! Now a few negatives- There's apparently some electricity problem going on in the region, so there are frequent power cuts, which is why the staff was taking a long time to get hot water for dinner and the heaters were also only partially working during the day and night, in this cold weather. The ground floor of the cottage has opaque windows so one won't get the Kangchenjunga view from inside the cottage room. The same is not true for the top floor of the cottage, so opt for that. Rest, all was great and it was truly a pleasant stay at The Magpie Chestnut Retreat and we would love to visit again! …
