Translated as 'Blessing', Munlom Nature resort is located in 'Gyathang', a village in lower Dzongu at an altitude of 5100 ft. The property is constructed of materials all locally sourced with a minimal environmental footprint. Careful measures were taken to ensure utilization of local human resource and traditional building techniques many of which are largely being forgotten. This is a location far from the maddening crowd, where you are yourself amidst the grandeur of nature.

This is the 2nd time I visited Munlom. I had wonderful memories of my first visit and hence planned again! Thank you Dawa for helping plan this. It's a super quiet place tucked away in the midst of nature. Highly recommended for folks looking to get away from people and just BE by themselves. Sanjeev currently looks after the place and he stole my heart with his ability to try and make the trip memorable for me given I was traveling solo. Took me around offroading, river side barbecue, drive to upper dzongu, monastery visit etc. Simple and humble as he is, there always is a lot of learn from the likes of such personalities! Icing on the cake was drive back with the owner Mr Pintso! Intellectually stimulating couple of hours spent with him learning about his new start up - Ourguest.in (arranging offbeat travel experiences for mountain fanatics/lovers like me) Overall and as expected, a great experience! Thank you team Munlom!!

It was a great experience nice serene place, this is a wonderful place to stay in Lower Dzongu, far away from hustle bustle of the city life. Staying at the munlom Nature Resort overall it was fantastic experience. The staff was very cooperative all demands were met with smiling face, you won’t be missing your home, incredible nature with the piece and surrounded by the mists forest, and there are also some dogs and their names are Twitter, Bhalu, addict, they are very friendly.

If you are looking for peace and nature one should definitely visit Dzongu, when you are in Dzongu Munlom Nature Resort is the best place to stay. Beautiful cottages with natural views. They only serves local food most of which are locally grown in around the village.

Resort is well maintained. Staffs are very friendly, humble. Foods are really good. We stayed there for three night. Pick up and drop from NJP was arranged from Resort only. Prices are affordable and worthy.

Pros: Peace and quietude amidst nature. Lovely surroundings. Lots of birds and butterflies! Rooms are big and spacious. Courteous and friendly staffs. Cons: Difficult to reach because of the road conditions. The property has not been maintained well and runs through temporary staffs from local village. Don't expect your bed to me made or bathroom to be cleaned. The young staffs do not even know how to cook proper food ( We had to enter the kitchen and instruct how to make tea, sabzi and even made them). They are untrained though eager to please. Worst part is the water. There is no shop anywhere nearby and bottled water is not available. The resort doesn't even have an RO and give boiled water in used bottles. This is the scariest part and there are high chances of water borne diseases. The meal charges, which is really of poor quality, are exorbitantly high. The owner takes care of neither the guests, nor the resort or the food served there. I would highly recommend that given a little care, this can be a resort worth visiting. To be honest, our stay was just average.

Couple of points I want to add for this property and its hosts. This as mentioned is not a resort but a homestay with an elevated stay feel. The location is very hard to locate and the road is not a easy drive as well. But after you reach it is heaven. There is no disturbance and is located within the immense variety of flora and fauna of Sikkim. The hosts are very helpful and courteous and the homemade food was awesome. Just to good. Please promote the location and don't hesitate to get back to me in case of any questions.

We stayed there for 2 nights and could not ask for a better start to our trip. It’s the cutest little resort with cozy rooms and great view. We visited them in peak winters and the electric blankets made sure we were always warm. Special thanks to Nordan who took us for an amazing trek to the monastery up hill and introduced you to the locals. We were celebrating our anniversary the day we landed and they ensured we had a memorable one. Kim and Pintso, the owners of the place, introduced us to some local wine, beer and Chi (Thumba) and spent time with us all evening sharing some great stories and helping us plan the rest of the trip around Sikkim! 10 on 10 for this little paradise for its location, view, hospitality and FOOD!!!

Reaching Munlom Nature Resort was not easy because the approach road was extremely bad and there was hardly any signboard of the resort. It is a nature lovers' and bird watchers' paradise. The location of the resort is very good. The cottages at higher level are better for bird watching. The service staff are very helpful and willing to provide comfort to the guests. Rooms are comfortable. The layout of the resort is beautiful, especially the nice cozy sitting place with the lounge. I would suggest that the guests should carry some food with them without depending much on the resort food. No bread for breakfast. Local Khudi - millet roll is good but only for a day.Quality and quantity of food are extremely poor. and they charge Rs. 450/- for each meal which is exorbitantly high. My suggestions: Firstly, the staff, although very eager to work, are untrained. So they should be given proper training particularly in cooking. Secondly, the owner should give more attention to the quality and quantity of food served. Thirdly, the owner could have his own organic farming and grow good quality vegetable in his property. We saw local people keeping cattle, pig and hen near the resort. The owner can think about doing the same. Lastly, there should be more signboards of the resort along the approach road. My rating on a 10 point scale : Approach to resort - 2; Location - 10; Ambience- 10; Accommodation- 9; Staff behaviour-9; Birding activity- 10; Other activity-3; Nature study-9; Food-1.

Response from munlomresorts, Owner at Munlom Nature Resort

Dear Susmita. Thank you so much for taking out time to write us a review and being generous with the rating. We understand that the food was not of the mark and regret to hear about that. Bread and other typical items are not stored by us as it spoils easily and hence wet try to only provide local meals here that would atleast be fresh and mostly sourced from the surroundings. Your idea for our own farms is excellent and we hope to have some small patch of everyday use herbs but other than that we sources from the surroudniung villages for seasonal produce as it is more convenient and also helsp us make payouts t the community. We are happy to share that new signages have been put up last week and this was an extremely important note you mentioned. I hope you will visit us again sometime and that we could improve upon ourseves by then. Best wishes from us all at Munlom.

Munlom resort is situated in a small village in Dzongu. It takes a bumpy ride to reach the resort but it is totally worth it. The place has been built with a lot of hard work, passion, love and every detail is very well thought of starting from the small gates, beds to the washrooms. The location is very Serene and completely immersed in the lap of nature. One wakes up to the lovely views of the mountains and birds chirping. Kim, the owner helped us arrange our ride from Gangtok to Dzongu and back. The staff was very kind and hospitable. The food served was delicious and homely. One must try the local dish khurie. Althiugh I am not a pro wine taster but the local organic plum and raspberry wines were one of the best wines I have had. Untill next time. Cheers!
