Mandawa is a pretty interesting place and a stroll down a few streets can transport you to another world of old havelis done up with beautiful shekawati paintings. Hotel Shekhawati gives you an option to actually stay in one such Haveli (with retouched paintings) on a real budget. Mandawa is a small place and most havelis where people can stay are near town center. Mandawa has a lot of narrow laves. Driving through the lanes with a car is not advisable. This haveli like other havelis have which have been converted into hotels has its walls covered with hand drawn paintings. Subject of paintings are usually religious in nature based on Mahabharat or Ramayan, This haveli also has its walls covered with paintings. However it seems many of them have been given a retouch and this retouch is not of the finesse with which original paintings were done. In some of the re done
