It’s been about 10 days since we came back from Citrus County but it seems like ages. I just can’t wait to get back. This was my second trip after 3 years though! The air is so fresh and the kinnow’s on the trees look amazing at this time of the year. Kids just didn’t want to come back from the orchards and wanted to pluck practically all the kinnow’s possible. A great experience to walk around the village and feel the freshness, we also saw the kinnow’s being packed. We thought it would be really cold in the tents but the heaters made us very comfortable. The food was just great and surely we put on some extra kilos. The staff at the farm was very helpful at all times. Harkirat his wife Jasveen and their son’s zorawar and pratap are a great family to be with. Thank you for having us. My only regret was we could not use the pool in the freezing weather, well a reason for us to go back in summer….

I chanced upon the website while browsing for farm stays in Haryana/Punjab. I decide to call and make a reservation without thinking too much about how the place will actually turn out.

Once at Citrus County my fears were laid to rest in an instant when we were warmly greeted by the landlady Jasveen, we immediately felt at home.

The place itself is a newly constructed farm house with manicured lawns and well maintained tents (attached baths, running water, a/c, heating etc).

The family owns of acres and acres of Kinnow orchards (among other things) who decided to extend their beautiful property into a farm stay, I am so glad that they did!

For city dwellers it is a treat:

1) To be given a personal tour of the orchard, which included plucking from the fruit laden trees (during the season and we happened to be in it)
2) Tour of the fruit washing, polishing and packaging factory.
3) Walk around the tiny village and visiting the pickle making factory
4) Last but not the least the piece de resistance – ‘Jungle Safari’ (for a cost, but worth every penny!). Harkirat and Jasveen drove us to the nearby forest reserve on his 4*4 Mahindra. Packed delicious lunch, parked on a river bed in the middle of a ravine and picnicked, this was strait from an Enid Blyton story! Couldn’t have been more thrilling for the kids.

One does not get the feeling that Harkirat and Jasveen are doing this for business. We were treated like personal friends whose every need was taken care of. For example our children were playing with their kids’ toys, every time we stepped out of the tent we were offered tea or coffee. In the evening the family sat with us for the barbeque, bon fire, drinks and dinner combo.

As per food, fresh organic vegetables (many things freshly plucked from the kitchen garden) cooked in a simple homely fashion was refreshing.

A tip- If you decide to take the train from Delhi take the Shatabdi to Phagwara. Phagwara station is quite and uncluttered, also it’s a straight 40 minute picturesque drive to CC.

When a doctor orders the over burdened, over stressed victim of the mad corporate world to take a break and recharge batteries, go to Citrus County!!

We chanced upon this place from some government site and decided to go after getting a very professional response from the owner - Mr. Harkirat Ahluwalia. Mr. Ahluwalia's family at one point owned the entire village and he took this concept of Farm Stay from his friends in Yarra Valley, Australia.
This place is a must for all those craving to see something of Indian village life, ofcourse will all the modern comforts. We were visiting Amritsar and on our return to Delhi, we decided to stay at Citrus County for 1 night. Got down at Jalandhar railway station and the place is about an hours drive from there.
Got warm welcome from the owner upon arrival. We stayed in a huge room with all facilities in the main home stead, though they also have luxury tents on offer. Traditional Punjabi meals were offered and they were delicious. Next morning we got a tour of their Kinnow orchards and the local village (which was part of attraction for our girls).
The owner and his team at the farm house were eager to help and pleased to help us in any way possible. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip here. When next in Punjab, we intend to visit them again.

We were there for five days, at the relatively new six independent cottage suites' Firdaus complex of Citrus County.
Set amidst the Poplar trees, and Kinu Orchards, the place is a serene haven of personal warmth and culinary indulgence. From the moment we arrived to the momment we left, we were pampered by the owner and host, Harkirat Singh, his family & staff. From breafast to dinner, we gorged on different veg and non-veg delights, most often cooked in the evenings by Harkirat himself on the outdoor wood-mud chullahs. Of course, most of it was done with dollops of ghee! We didn't hold back either and enjoyed ourselves silly.
Since it was early January, to keep ourselves warm, we could comfortably lounge around a couple of thoughfully lit wood fire pits in the garden.
An important must do was a tractor ride through their Kinu Orchards where we were encouraged to pluck & partake as many as we wanted to.
When we headed out for some nearby sight seeing to the Gurudwara Bibhor Saheb or an early to visit to Amritasar and the Golden temple, a sumptuous breakfast to our taste was packed, along with bottles of fresh Kinu juice, of course.
A most enjoyable experience was that we could go Quad Biking in the evening around the estate, with Harkirat and his friends. Quite thrilling!
Over all, a terrific stay - comfortable lodging, great food, and heart warming personalised hospitality - thank you, Harkirat!

We were on a family vacation from 3rd November to 5th November 2018 at Citrus county. We arrived a bit late, having stopped over at Ludhiana for shopping for woollens. All along Harkirat was in touch with us to ensure our well being and that we didn't have any problem navigating our way.
Harkirat, Beeya and his entire family n friends including the lovable labbies Simba the Saint and Kaiser the rogue are the perfect company for the citrus county setting. We were welcomed with a bonfire to Ward off the chill.
We stayed in the tents which are very comfortable with clean bathrooms and a spacious bedroom. The food is cooked as per your requirement and was delicious. We enjoyed the fresh fruit juices.
We went for an early morning walk next day to the citrus orchard laden with tangerine..yours for the taking. After breakfast we took the village walk, and were lucky to get a chance to visit the local Mela....must say Beeya was very well informed about this and other shopping information that we needed.
We drove to Harkirat farm 10 min drive from Citrus country for lunch in the open...a lovely experience. In the evening we went for a tractor ride and wound up the day around the bonfire n dinner bonding with Harkirat, his family and other guests.
A wonderful stay in the heart of a village in Punjab...the place to go to if you need a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of your city life.
We came back carrying awesome memories of a beautiful vacation. The fragrance of citrus and raat ki raani still lingers.

This very professionally run Farm Stay amongst Citrus orchards in Hoshiarpur district is a treat to be in. The personal attention and care given by the owners make all the difference. The tented accommodation with all modern amenities around the well maintained lawns are very nice and the food is really good. It is value for money.

So we are back in citrus county
And like good malts the years gone by have added their patina of charm
The greenery is more abundant
The evening s recital of the homecoming dance of the birds adds to the allure
The warmth of the tent in the cold winter night so comforting the verandah awning hidden in the bushes
The ever gracious Harkirat now greyed even so distinguished country lord
The warm of the hearth in the lounge the superlative quality of cuisine
All adds to the event and the place
To top it all the midnight sojourn to the forest glimpses fleeting they may be of the wildlife
The dam bathed ethereal in silver moonlight the challenge of the barkin deer
And how I want to return

We stayed at citrus county from Sept 30 until Oct 3. The place is a lot prettier than what u see in photographs. The luxury tents are world class in comfort and amenities. The place is serene. Harkirat, the owner is such a symbol of hospitality. He is ever smiling and ensures every guest is looked after personally to make the stay truly memorable. We loved the trek to the nearby dam. We had a great time visiting his citrus orchard in the tractor trolley. We went for long walks in his farm. The food is amazing. Lip smacking. Cannot get over the taste even after return. The staff at his farm stay are so courteous and efficient that they pamper u a lot. They are a great asset for Harkirat. Fully stocked Bar makes your evenings rocking. The right destination for a relaxed holiday. Will go back again. Thank u Harkirat for this wonderful and memorable stay.

We stayed in the farmhouse. The room was spacious and comfortable. A lovely bathroom, lots of hot water and fluffy towels (a rarity in India!)
Outside was a beautiful dining area, wood fires keeping the evening chill at bay. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and plentiful.
Also a well stocked bar as a bonus!
Will be returning!
