Citrus County offers a unique experience with the warm hospitality of Harkirat (and his dog Rufus) – home away from home. His father is a horticulturist and equally adept at welcoming guests. The location is 5 min on a village road from the highway connecting Hoshiarpur to Chandigarh. You get a feeling of space with big lawns, enough parking, and with peace and quiet of the surroundings. Harkirat took us on a tour of the farm and the village. We couldn’t do the safari due to the June heat. The food was great – fresh, well-cooked, ample portions with farm fresh mangoes to top it off. The rooms and tents are well furnished and tastefully decorated. We stayed in the house on the first floor – there was seating space in the small lobby with an accessible terrace. There are some…
We were treated like family, had a fantastic Indian lunch ready for us on our arrival- and Harkirats company while enjoying some of the best Indian food we tasted. We stayed in the large comfortable air conditioned luxury tent, the bedroom come lounge has a large comfortable bed and theres lots of room in the tent and also separate bathroom with plenty of hot water. The setting in the landscaped gardens is superb. We were treated to dinner under the warm Indian night sky out on the lawn. We would highly recommend staying here as it is a stepping stone to Amritsar, Chandigarah ( to see the Nek Chang rock garden), to Rajasthan or back to Delhi
We have had such an amazing time at Citrus County that we have visited 4 times! It is an easy drive from Chandigarh and offers fun plus relaxation. Our four young children enjoy all the activities including tractor rides, safari rides, swimming pools, and lots of outdoor fun! The resident family offers amazing hospitality and have accommodated our group of up to five foreigner families including western food, birthday parties, and Easter egg hunts.
It’s been about 10 days since we came back from Citrus County but it seems like ages. I just can’t wait to get back. This was my second trip after 3 years though! The air is so fresh and the kinnow’s on the trees look amazing at this time of the year. Kids just didn’t want to come back from the orchards and wanted to pluck practically all the kinnow’s possible. A great experience to walk around the village and feel the freshness, we also saw the kinnow’s being packed. We thought it would be really cold in the tents but the heaters made us very comfortable. The food was just great and surely we put on some extra kilos. The staff at the farm was very helpful at all times. Harkirat his wife Jasveen and their son’s zorawar and pratap are a great family to be with. Thank you for…
I chanced upon the website while browsing for farm stays in Haryana/Punjab. I decide to call and make a reservation without thinking too much about how the place will actually turn out. Once at Citrus County my fears were laid to rest in an instant when we were warmly greeted by the landlady Jasveen, we immediately felt at home. The place itself is a newly constructed farm house with manicured lawns and well maintained tents (attached baths, running water, a/c, heating etc). The family owns of acres and acres of Kinnow orchards (among other things) who decided to extend their beautiful property into a farm stay, I am so glad that they did! For city dwellers it is a treat: 1) To be given a personal tour of the orchard, which included plucking from the fruit laden trees…
