We had the warmest welcome from the Landlady, certainly wouldn't recognise the"frosty" comments. The room was very clean and warm and with features such as lovely bathrobes. O.K. the toilet macerator is noisy but that's a small inconvenience. We didn't have an evening meal but the breakfast was in the highest realm of "full English". Would certainly go again.

While staying near Newnham, we ate at this place 3 times and it was fantastic on each occasion. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu was not vast but it had a decent selection of dishes. All the starters, mains and desserts we tried were nicely presented and delicious. Beware, the main course portions were very generous, especially the...

Having found this pub on the Internet the night before it didn't occur to me to book for a table at 6pm. On arrival (don't be put off by outer facade) we were told they were fully booked. With an 8yr and 5yr in tow weren't sure where to go as we weren't local and on our way down through...

Stayed for 2 nights in June whilst visiting friends. Pub nicely situated and welcoming hosts. Newnham on Severn is a pretty village, with easy access to Gloucester / Forest of Dean. Room 2 good size with comfortable bed, en-suite shower and a comfy settee. As a personal preference, I was not keen on the 70s pine décor or carpet in...

We arrived quite late in the evening as we had been out and about exploring the Forest of Dean all day. We were greeted with a friendly hello as soon as we arrived - we had big bags so it was a bit obvious I guess!! We arrived after the restaurant had closed but they were very kind to ask...

It was okay. That's all we can say. I am as puzzled as the other reviewers, as to how they book tables. I phoned we were given a choice of two times during the evening. When we arrived there were at least 6 free tables. all evening there were at least 5 free tables at the time we had originally...

We visited The Ship Inn on Friday evening 17th July 2015. After a 2 hour drive from Andover in Hampshire we checked Tripadvisor reviews and decided to give The Ship a go. We arrived at around 7pm and were greated by the land lady who was very abrupt and made me feel a little awkward. Although there were only a...

Indeed the word "Bizarre" seems to sum up the review quite nicely, sorry we did not hit your expectations, appears we had a number of reviews being negative in the spate of 2 days, How strange? Yet all the other reviews are positive. As they say in the "X" Files .........the Truth is out there! Adrian. The Owner.

My friend and I thought we would try this place for lunch after reading the rave reviews, I wish we hadn't bothered, on arriving we thought it would be nice to sit by the window, we were told in no uncertain terms by the abrupt landlady "I would rather you both sat on a table made up for two"! Fair...
