My friends and I spent 3 amazing days at Hingaara. Undoubtedly one of the best homestay experiences of our lives. The property is stunning and perfect for those looking for a tranquil experience. Rooms are spacious, clean, and well lit. Hot water is available. Food is absolutely delicious and a variety of Malnad cuisine. The host, Shashank, moved mountains to make our stay feel amazing and arranged bonfires for us. He even took out some time to show us his beautiful heritage home and spend time talking to us about the place and the surroundings. Every single staff is courteous who take care of you very well. A memorable experience to cherish. Would highly recommend this place. We would definitely return to this amazing place. Thank you Hingaara.
Back to Bengaluru after one crazy, unforgettable, epic trip with lots of good memories. This was my first ever macro photography experience in rain forest sorted with perfect malnad style delicious food, scary leeches, classic tent stay setup, day and night forest walk experience with heavy rainfall and of course getting drenched. One heaven of an experience. One should really need to experience this once in a while. An absolute game changer tour which had lots to offer. I myself got rid of my snake phobia, head to head encounter with pit viper (the chills are still in there). Witnessing nature wonders like bio luminescent fungi was a bonus and many more new experiences. Girish Gowda sir - An amazing macro expert whos got lots of knowledge in all aspects related to tiny world around us. His knowledge on agumbe and living species is exceptional. Shashank Hegde sir - Proud owner of this property, a down to earth person who made us feel homely, The way he communicates makes all of us get involved and engaged. Sathishanna - Our tour guide who knows each and every corner of agumbe ghats. An amazing personality to be with. He could spot tiny spiders from far as well. That precise and accurate he is in exploring macro world and reptiles around.…
We decided to reach agumbe and the stay we chose was hingara nature stay.. I would highly recommend this place. Mr Sheshank took very good care and the food was excellent. No words for their hospitality. The best place and best stay ever. The antique collections were superb. The place itself is 300 years old. What an experience!!!!
Excellent Homely Hospitality Nice Ambience mouth watering malnad style food learnt a lot about macro photography nice guidance by girish totally nice experience must visit place but one thing when we visited Rain didn't came eagerly waiting for rain as we need monsoon macro photos of reptiles and amphibians
We visited Hingaara the Homestay in Nature’s Lap. A beautiful place with serene background and lovely ambience. We celebrated our 36th Marriage Anniversary by planting 36 varieties of flowering plants. The owners Shashank Hegde and his father Jayaram Hegde has made wonderful arrangements for the stay. It is a good place to enjoy the rustic place. Its surroundings made us more synergic and regain the health lost in Bengaluru. Refresh, recoup and regain your energies in the Natural surrounds. Good food, affable staff and great location. The heritage house is lovely to look at and stay. It’s simple look and great looks make a difference. We had wonderful experience. Strongly recommend for those who want to take a break from the hustle bustle of city life.
My stay at hingaara has been quite pleasant. And since I traveled solo, it was safe, with very cooperative staff. The hitch of trekking alone with a staff member in forests that were unknown to me, then language was a hurdle. But with staff cooperation I had the best week of my life. Food was good. And overall rooms and hygiene was also good. Surroundings were very good. Vandana
If ever anyone plan to goto Agumbe my suggestion is don’t ever goto Hingaara homestay The activities mentioned in website are all broken and not in a condition to play. 1. They claim that they take u to some offbeat water falls n all but I’m not sure who calls it a water fall, water from shower at home only falls on u from much higher distance. 2. water can that they had kept had fungus floating inside 3. Room was full of lizards 4. When we asked for evening snack they said if it’s really needed as they have to prepare it and it’s difficult 5. At 8 they start forcing to finish dinner and they tell on face they wanna sleep, when we go on a holiday and enjoying these days everyone prefers to eat post camp fire 6. The food tasted good but all the bad experiences made us not enjoy what was being served If one wants to experience a bad homestay then a must place…
I was on a solo Kanyakumari to Kashmir trip, when a friend introduced me to Shashank. He owns and runs a homestay in the Malgudi town of Agumbe. My week long stay has been a life changing experience. To begin with, Hingara is no ordinary house, it's 350 old years heritage house. On my arrival, Shashank had a long list of things not to be missed in Agumbe. From cultural experience of Yakshagana to a school visit, to Kavaledurga fort and so much more! I am still overwhelmed by the experience of Yakshagana. It's a form of ancient dance form where menfolks body paint a dress like Mahabharata characters. What makes this experience even more enjoyable is that the whole village sits together, all night, to experience the magic of this Yakshagana. I can never thank Shashank enough for introducing me to this face of India. Another unforgettable experience from my Agumbe diaries is the school visit in Guddekeri. Shashank insisted that we must experience a day in school and now after visiting the school for a day, I insist that one day is not enough. Though it's a government school but the students are so enthusiastic and involved with education that you feel inspired. They have school parliament, high level of student participation, facilities like a projector. Even after school, kids play with each other, help each other with studies, and go back home together. Experiencing this, I asked Shashank if kids in school are missing on this amazing way of life. That's when he invited me to the children's camp! Where I ended up playing in mud with kids, building mud homes, painting and star gazing. It was a sheer joy to see the cultural exchange between city and village kids. Shashank got all of us together in a way that we all got to learn so much from each other. In the era of changing times, Hingara also actively participates in conservation of rainforests. He made special effots to explain to us the importance of fragile rainforesta. . Also, I can't help but mention the food before concluding. The food experience at Hingara, has been the most sumptuous meals on the entire Kanyakumari to Kashmir journey! All in all, Agumbe has been an unforgettable journey I was initially amazed to know Shashank's story. He set at defiance the comforts of a swanky life in Australia, to come back to his roots and preserve the wonders of Agumbe. It is an initiative of great love and passion, expressed in the excellent hospitality and the unforgettable journeys that Hingara creates!…
