After having heard good reviews about the hotel and it’s location, We zeroed in on this hotel. I booked 2 rooms via MakeMyTrip, only to be told by the hotel staff that the non-AC rooms booked were not available. After talking to MakeMyTrip and updating them about the situation, they spoke to the hotel and got Us a free upgrade to AC rooms. The property is old and needs a lot of maintenance and they’re expensive for the tariffs they charge. The property itself is functional, but needs a lot of upkeep. Staff on the other hand needs to learn about courtesy and customer interaction skills in short.
Very old and prestigious property with clean rooms excellent amenities and restaurant. It has exclusive vegetarian and non vegetarian and a bar serving a huge variety of well prepared tasty food. I saw many parties happening there. Conference rooms and other related facilities are good. Only problem I faced was mosquitoes in the rooms.. plenty..
I had stayed at Hotel Jewel Rock, Shivamogga, earlier and hence I stayed there again last weekend. But I found the hotel has lost all its glory and is surviving on past glory and acquired name and fame. It is not at all worth the money now. I stayed for two days and one night. The charges, including tax, came to about Rs.2250. They did not provide good new towels, the towels were bit old, there was no drinking water provided in the room, there was no tee/coffee kettle in the room, one tap was broken in the toilet, no Internet, the windows were all jammed, etc. There was no need to open the windows being an A.C. room. Nevertheless, no maintenance was visible everywhere. On second day, when I had gone out, they cleaned the room, took away the used towels, but did not replace them…
This place was the biggest building in the town long ago and had only royal visitors this hotel has rooms of nice quality and two restaurants one for veg and a non veg the hotels are good for evening snacks. Till now the hotel runs on previous fame but the maintenance has been declining these years and there are lot other good hotels in the city now
