Having stayed at Dandeli, this is a good option cause there is no crowd. Tariff is also decent . Food is average. Rooms are basic but clean. If there are 3 people, opt for cottage over the rooms. In the lap of nature and good birding .

Anshi Nature Camp was a suggestion given by other travellers, after we were disappointed with an all-activity package resort between fields, instead of a real forest. You will need to call Anshi Nature Camp and check for availability as there is no other means of communicating with them. They also have an office in the Dandeli Main Town for queries.
Anshi Nature Camp is a remote location within the forest area, 3 kms from Anshi Bus Stand (which is 58 kms from Dandeli) and has regular buses from Dandeli. The 3 km walk is one of the best walks I've ever taken, completely worth going on foot. Given our resort experience, Anshi was heaven and it is the perfect location to escape to!
The Nature Camp is run by the Forest Reserve Department, who stay within the same are. The department officials can also organise treks and provide food on request. Tents cost Rs.1000 for 2, Cottages cost Rs.1200 for 2. The washrooms are clean. The place is completely run on Solar Energy, no electric poles in the vicinity. Completely off grid, no telephone network (except BSNL), No charging points.
Go there for the peace, brilliant treks, bird/animal spotting, night sky, forest noises, the river and nature study. An alternate route from Dandeli could also help you spot some wildlife, other than the treks.
Do not miss to check out a few items kept for sale, especially books on the Bird Trails and Evergreen Trails. Many flora and fauna researchers visit the place regularly.
P.S - We were a couple of women travellers and it is one of the safest places we have stayed in, in spite of being completely off-grid. The reserve forest personnel were friendly and provided their phones to make calls since we were not aware of lack of non-BSNL connectivity.

We stayed in this camp in a group during a short weekend. We had booked the entire dormitory. The beds were comfortable with blankets. There are four bathrooms with provision of hot water. However, there were rats and people need to be careful if they have any food items in bags. There are cottages and tent accommodation as well. All cottages are spacious and isolated from each other to give utmost privacy. I somehow did not like the tents as they were steel and almost permanent structures. The compound itself has many endemic species of trees and a walk around is really a treasure trove for nature lovers and botany enthusiasts. There is a guide available for nature trails and bird watching trails. The guide charged us rs. 100 per person and rs.100 extra for a short trail. Food is not extravagant but tasty. However, if you are traveling in large groups, it is advised to order before hand for each meal. There is no other town except Dandeli which is 60 kms away. Dandeli and Ganeshgudi is where you will have to go for adventure sports and Kali Tiger Reserve safari. We went for an evening safari starting at 4 PM. The per head cost was Rs 400 although on pen and paper it is Rs 150 only. Dandeli is known for the four species of hornbills. Ganeshgudi is famous for water sports. We booked a river rafting for Rs 500 per person at Flycatchers adventure Club at Ganeshgudi. There are other sports as well like boating, kayaking river rappling, zipline to choose from. Beware of local touts who charges extra 100 to 200 for this. Also, it is better to know whether rafting is happening or not before hand as it depends on how much water is released from the dam. There is an Eco park nearby which is a perfect place to have a picnic. On the way back to Bangalore and if you start really early, you can visit Gokarna beach and Jog falls as well.

As a core wildlife lover, I go to Anshi every year. Beautiful jungle, awesome birds, rare mammals, huge variety of plants, amazing waterbodies, mesmerizing landscapes.
Anshi Nature Camp is a rustic place. There are a few things which only a wildlife lover can sustain here.
Tents and Loghuts are not really for weak hearted people because anytime you can see a lizard, mouse, frog, spiders in your room. If you are not used to such rustic place, you will not like the rooms or tents because they are not really sophisticated and polished. VERY RUSTIC. No electricity. Only solar energy which does not last more than 2-3 hours.
Best season to go here: If you love birding- Winter.
If you love snakes, frogs- Early monsoon
If you have not yet experienced the actual wild, stay here only for 1 night and see if you like it.
Rare Birds which can be found:
Fairy Blubird, Malabar Trogon, Shrilanka Frogmouth, Flame-Throated Bulbul, Owls, Eagles, Blue Robin, blue eared kingfisher . Checklist is very huge.
Mammals:
Mouse Deer, Barking deer, Bear, Leopard, Tiger, Gaur, Small Civet, Palm Civet, Jungle cat etc
Snakes:
Malabar Pit viper, Crait, Cobra, King Cobra, Rat-Snake, Cat-snake, wine snake, bronzeback snake, sand boa, python etc
Again saying that, if you are wildlife lover, then only stay here. Otherwise you should be strong hearted.

This place is a pure nature lovers retreat. There are tiger trails and birdwatching trails on foot and by Jeeps. We reached by train and enjoyed watching nature through camera and binoculars . This was a well organized trip by the Madras Naturalists society.
Trains connect to Dharwad or Karwar in India. The rest is by local connects. We had a well coordinated forest tour by Mr. Ravi. (local guide.
We watched the beautiful nature and filled our lungs with pure air. The teak plantations develop a semi-evergreen rain fed forest and great rivers like the Kali and Kaneri. The Hornbills are a delight to watch at timber trails and so are the minivets and barbets.
The food was local and authentic flavors.
Great place for nature lovers.

It is best project by Dandeli Anshi tiger reserve forest department . A different stay. Only solar energy. Very calm and relax stay. Actually above all reviews gi es well information. I want to correct one thing that the photo given on tripadvisor is not Anshi nature camp. That photo is of one of 12 tents in "kulgi Nature Camp" near Dandeli. I m giving bellow a photo of tent at" Anshi nature camp ". There is also another nature camp run by this department is " Castle rock nature camp" near to" Dudhsagar waterfall".

Visited here in the month of January. We opted for cottages and they look recently refurbished, bathroom is big and clean, It was dusted and mopped and bedsheets were changed in front of us.
Food is good too.
Most importantly its rich in bird life. If you go around and outside the nature camp you'll get to many birds species.

Best place to visit, Thick Dense Evergreen Forest, Karnataka's 2nd Biggest Forest, Unexplored Territories, Nature at its best. Its about 55Kms from Dandeli. 10Kms from Dandeli you reach Patoli Cross, from here on there are two ways. One which goes through the forest closed between 6PM to 6AM and the other is the National Highway connecting KARWAR. 45Kms inside the forest is simply fabulous. I will not say much about the forest itself you have to experience it first hand. Ideal is to visit during April-May and Nov-Dec.
