An unplanned trip lead us to The Wilderness. Excellent service, rooms and personalized service by Mr. Rajesh. Right place to relax, enjoy beauty, walk by the lake, pine trees and open sky with valley. Rooms are great and customized service makes it icing on the cake with cherry being location.

The minute you reach Narkanda, you realise that the long drive all the way up to this apple orchard county was well worth it! The Wilderness is a quaint homely place, nestled among pine trees and a backdrop of the most amazing snow capped mountains, a visual delight! This more than makes up for the absence of the modern day commercial luxuries offered by hotels. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Mukhyan play the gracious hosts, with an efficient team of boys who are on their toes to make you feel at home. Home cooked food adds to the flavour of the place. We had an enjoyable stay and I would use this platform to thank the Mukhyans and recommend this place to all and sundry.

Situated right next to the Thanu Jubbar lake is this not so big property run with absolute personal involvement of the owner Rajesh Mukhyan. He treats this like his passion and not just business.
The property is absolutely beautiful surrounded by lush green trees on one side and the valley on the other side offering some very scenic views. The unbelievable number of roses in the property make it all the more pretty. There are all colors and sizes...beautiful.
The rooms are not very fancy but have everything you need. Not all rooms have TVs so if you must have a TV ask in advance. The size of the rooms and the bathroom is huge and unlike the closet bathrooms that most new hotels provide. Each room has a patio inside the room offering great sunrise view with great morning tea.
Cannot forget to mention the great food cooked up by the chef there. He was cooking low spice meals for the mass audience (which was tasty too) but coming from Jaipur, wasn't doing any good to our spice-starved taste buds. But on request, what a meal did we get!!! Chhole pure, aloo bhaji with piping hot puris made the day.
On the weather, May was very pleasant and during the day you could just wear t-shirts. If you have kids take extra care. One jacket/sweater needed after 8 pm as it suddenly gets cold. The bonfire was fun.
Rajesh is one of the nicest hotel owners i have ever seen. Very accommodative, very caring and gives every guest his personal attention.
Highly recommended if you are looking to relax for a couple of nights, this is the place.

Wilderness is located ~10 kilometeres of Narkanda town. The resort is on the sides of a small pond and all the rooms face the valley and snow clad mountains of pir panjal. There are ample number of apple, cherry and almond trees within the resort.
Go here only if you are fine with having home cooked food, coir mattresses bed, don't expect hotel like feel. It is more of a B&B with nice views and well cooked food.

As a couple we wanted to go to some offbeat location, far away from that 'city' factor which you may feel even in a place like shimla.so we came across this very interesting place called "Wilderness" on some website.it took us more than an hour to reach there from shimla..
And shall i say that we were sooo right in choosing this place??!! It justifies the fairytale tagline. The lovely view, spacious rooms, welcoming staff and the facilities they provide will give you the value for money which you gonna spend. Its amazing and surprising to find such good quality food far away,in the lap of mountains! Personalized service was a pleasure. They were very concerned about making us feel comfortable. Its an ideal place for friends and family.
We actually did spend the best part of our one week trip in those 24hours! Cant wait to come back again with our friends. An excellent place to visit, trust me. :)

Wow. This place is heaven. The route:- Chandigarh - Shimla - Narkanda - The Wilderness. It's about 9 Kms beyond Narkanda and located at a place untouched by the rat race of modern life.
Visit it to relax and enjoy the company of the lovely owners who treat you as family.
If getting away from the maddening city life and relaxing in the lap of nature is your idea, then this is the place to be!
And Yes, the cook can whip out a variety of cuisines, and they are all very delicious.

Lovely Drive to the hotel meandering through pine forests. The hotel was perched on the ridge overlooking beautiful snow capped mountains .. sadly no one could tell us the names of the mountain peaks. After a very warm welcome Meenu and Rajesh Mukhyan ensured that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Our family of 2 senior citizens and a super senior citizen (my grandmother is 92 years old) was very well taken care of by our hosts. The location is truly the reason for coming here. The rooms are comfortable and offered a cozy environment even in cold weather. We were perpetually in clouds and gusty winds with an occasional glimmer of the sun. The bonfire every night was wonderful ! People singing songs and narrating stories added to the charm of this boutique hotel which is created and maintained like 'a labor of love'. The Wilderness does not run like a commercial establishment. Keep it that way ! A big thanks for all the care and attention. It was Really Appreciated.

We just came back from a lovely stay at The Wilderness . The serene location of the resort added to wonderful stay ... We were travelling with my mom and young kids and the staff ensured that they requirements were taken care of. I cant miss to mention Deepak , their chef who took pride in serving different cuisines and did a real good job . Rajesh Mukhyan has been a wonderful host. I would surely love to come back to Wilderness again...

we occupied all the rooms in the hotel .. all of which were really spacious and clean. would love to go back again and spend at least 3-4 days there to get to soak int hte peace and tanquitlity of the place!
