We booked this hotel of the HPTDC for overnight stay when we travelled from Chandigarh towards Kinnaur / Spiti / Lahul / Kaza / Pangi on a 16 day road trip in June - July 2022 with one of the most reliable and versatile driver, Mr. Raj Kumar (+917876186496). We had earlier used his Cab in 2008 when we had taken a trip to Himachal. He is thoroughly aware of the road conditions in every part of Himachal. The room was a big one to accommodate 3 people. Though they charged for the third person, they did not provide any extra mattress which is not good. In other HPTDC facilities like Kaza, Keylong, Kalpa, etc., they charged food cost for the extra person when the extra bed was not provided.
The rooms are generally clean and service was okay. The breakfast cost is included in room rent but the breakfast options are very few. Parantha is the major stuff they provide. The hotel lawn has good view so also the room we had been allocated. It was a good stay. Service is just okay.

Location and Facilities: The hotel is located very near to the market and nearly every room opens to a great view. We stayed in snow suit and deluxe room with balconies. Both provided equally great view.

The lawn is a great place to sit (in sunny winters) or build snowman (during snowfalls)

Parking space is ample.

Restaurant and bar is decently equipped.

The breakfast is complimentary but the menu is limited and repetitive.

The hotel also has a hall and can arrange parties, training sessions etc. on request.

Service: One of the strongest point of this hotel. Every staff is always smiling and eager to help. I wish all Govt staff were like this. I would have loved to mention the name of every staff member including the very friendly kitchen staff, the lady at the reception but unfortunately couldn't pick everyone's name. But special mention to Mr.Gurudev who was serving us mostly. His smiling face, friendly behavior added to the comfort.

Tips for travelers:

a) If you love snowfall, try your luck on first or second week of January

b) The approach road to the hotel is a few mtrs of steep climb that can get slippery in rainy or snowy season. However nothing to be fearful about. Just be careful.

The hot water was readily available, the hotel rooms were decent and clean. The bed linens were not fresh. The view was good. The food was average. Located in the interiors, was a little difficult to find without proper boards. The hotel demanded extra cost saying their rates were increased post our booking which was unprofessional.

I stayed there for 4 days, two days in snow suite and two days in Delux room with balcony. The view from both rooms were quite mesmerizing. Rooms were well furnished with Heater, gyser, Electric kettle to name a few. During my stay, Gurudev ji helped me a lot in both serving delicious dishes at breakfast and dinner. With his knowledge of the area, he also helped us in deciding the daily itinerary during our stay. All the staff were very helpful. I would love to visit again.

Stayed in this hotel on 9th & 10th April 2022.
Hotel location is superb. We booked one Snow View Suite & one Deluxe room both in new building. Fantastic view of mountains, valley & apple gardens from the room. Delux room size is average.
All facilities were there. Housekeeping is excellent. Housekeeping staffs are very good. Even lady staff also helped for our luggage.
Hotel entrance road from the main road should be more smooth.
Buffet breakfast was not at all good. They were always
behaving miserly in supplying items & giving when demanded. Authority should look after this as there is no hotels near by.
Reception man should be more aware of history, geography of Himachal Pradesh. Whatever asked him, reply was,"I am new here, no idea". So funny ! Knowledgeable person should be posted here to guide the tourists.

In the past 4 years I have stayed at this hotel twice. If I remember correctly the first time I stayed here was most likely in October 2016. At that time renovation work in the hotel was going on and it had a somewhat messy look but that was my most memorable stay here. The staff was very sweet, helpful and very courteous and food was finger licking good. It were these positives that made me choose this stay at this hotel on the onward and return journey to and from Kinnaur. That was October 2018 and though the renovation work at the hotel was complete and it bore a new swanky look, the good things it was a known for was surely a thing of the past. The staff was least interested, service was poor and the food pathetic. Infact at dinner the vegetable served was raw. We met the same fate when we stayed here on our return journey. The kind of experience I had here in 2018 will certainly force me to look at other options if I decide to go to Narkanda.

It's located walking distance from the ski area and the main market, which is very convenient and still offers some good view and quiet. Rooms are decent. Their room heaters though need special recommendations as even with temperature as low as -5°, it was extremely effective so much so that one could sleep without any blanket. Very helpful staff, they even added a channel subscription on request!

Nice property from HPTDC. This hotel is situated in the hills, the path to this hotel is covered with pine trees. We were taking a walk everyday during our stay through the walking trail outside the hotel in between pine trees. Food was good and staffs are helpful. Rooms are clean and are having a beautiful view. Had a nice stay here.

An HPTDC deluxe hotel and as we had picked the Hatu Suite it was spacious and comfortable.
An overall average rating due to some of the staffs behaviour at the front desk and maintenance and the food too was not upto the mark.
The Staff looking after room service and restaurant were very help and good.
The four day stay was however wonderful with the picturesque view and two visits to the Hatu Temple.

Hi Prachi If you want to see snow at Narkanda, then the right time is January and February, also part of March. April there is unlikely to be snow there. If you continue on the road to Lahaul-Spiti, of course at that distance and altitude you will get snow, you would be on top of a glacier at places.

Do we get a snow peak view (like Shivalik range) from the hotel rooms or from the lawn?

We stayed only for one night and did not trek to Hatu peak. Car will take you to the view point. Trek is possible. You will get snow (for sure in January). There are chances of road getting blocked between Shimla and Narkanda.
