Our group of four spent two days at Orchard Huts itself and another 7 trekking in the mountain ranges nearby. At the time we were afraid we would not be able to do this adventure since most places we contacted had closed their trails due to the snow. But Prakash and his family know the mountain like the back of their hand and were able to arrange a trek for us. Breathtaking views all along, and the trekking hut is the place to be. Have to say the family was also very helpful concerning practical details to arrange our arrival and departure. Overall, beautiful experience unlike anything I'd done before.

We went to visit the huts with the sole purpose of trekking, and we found exactly what we were looking for! Nitin very kindly tailored the schedule to suit our travel plans, and arranged everything in advance. We were the first trekkers of the season so there were only two of us - which made the trip a bit more expensive than we were expecting - but the experience that was provided for us by Prakesh and his family was more than worth it. Minder and Nitu were our two guides / porters / cooks and they looked after us as if we were family. Not only did they carry all of the equipment (included in the cost), they cooked three incredible meals every day of the trek, and were incredibly attentive ensuring that we were safe and happy throughout the trip.

I just had the pleasure of a 5night stay - 3 nights at Orchard Hut and 2 nights at Ridgemoor Cottage. I did not want to leave. You could easily spend a week in each place. And I just had a taste of Chamba town! Need to come back. First you are welcomed like a family member and leave feeling like you are leaving your family behind! Everyone is wonderful and you will not go hungry. FOOD- Food is some of the best I have had anywhere! Can’t begin to list the dishes I loved - too long - but the bitter gourd and the pickled rhododendron dish is my very favourite! ROOM- so comfy and I had a big room with lots of storage space, great bathroom with hot water for showers. You have your own spot on one of the many porches to soak up the atmosphere. GROUNDS- the Dhami family pioneered

My friend and I stayed here for over two weeks. It is a beautiful, beautiful place run by incredibly lovely people who felt like family by the time we left (Hi auntie, we miss you!!). Everyday we did yoga with a view of the mountains, swam in the chilly pool, went for walks on the local trails, sat on the balcony reading, and eating the most amazing home cooked food (this was one of my favourite parts!!!). The hike up to ridgemoor was epic too, amazing views up there so well worth doing. The whole stay was good for the soul. We were so well looked after, and really hope we can come back and visit again some day. Thanks again for the most wonderful stay- highlight of my time in India.
