As the other reviews document, Aman-i-Khas is perfection in every way. My wife and I spent three nights here as part of our month-long trip through India, during which we stayed at a dozen properties, most in the luxury category. Aman-i-Khas was among the top two (the other being in Kolkata, so very hard to compare since the setting is so different). From the moment of arrival with warmest greetings and care from our batman (or butler) Krishlay, to the chef's spectacular accommodation of our veganism, to the beautiful game drives through Ranthambore National Park, to the best massage I have ever had anywhere in the world thanks to Sima in the spa, Aman-i-Khas was divine. Staff were attentive and thoughtful, but never obtrusive. The tents are very large with all creature comforts (they have heat and AC as needed), including our personal favorite: a large bathtub that comfortably accommodates two. My wife, who is a highly experienced horse jumper, also went riding on the Marwari horses from the stable up the road: she does advise that only seasoned riders attempt the horseback excursion as the horses are very energetic/hot, and the guide (not someone from Aman-i-Khas) does not speak any English and doesn't communicate with the rider about pace, direction, etc. If you go, we highly recommend making the time to visit the Ranthambore Fort--it's a great place to rub shoulders with non-tourists, see a fort with a mosque and both Hindu and Jain temples, and admire the spectacular grey langurs who hang around (literally) the fort at close range. As someone who has been on safari many, many times in eastern, southern, and central Africa, I can say that Ranthambore is a uniquely beautiful park because of the historic ruins throughout, the many lakes and rivers, and just an all-around spectacular landscape. We had incredible tiger sightings during our visit, but even without, Ranthambore is well worth visiting. And, if you can, make your time there incredibly memorable by indulging in the hospitality at Aman-i-Khas. …
The experience was fabulous and we are certainly going to return. The location is on the edge of the forest reserve. It’s been left untamed with wonderful tents as the only structures on, so a minimal ecological impact. This sensibility wisely seems a driving force and is in its way sublime. The manger Anand Shekawat was most personable without being intrusive. Wonderful conversationalist besides running an efficient, friendly and classy place. Could easily have been “BFF”. One is assigned a “Batman”, a Jeeves for the stay. we were fortunate to have Krish. A remarkably intelligent, sophisticated and sensitive gentleman. He was most attentive and made some classic cocktails as well. Was knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. Service was impeccable and restrained at the same time. The tents were spacious and quite grand but did get rather warm at mid day. The food was excellent. Either in the dining tent or out in the jungle Al fresco. Both Indian and western cuisine were equally well made and cooked to individual taste. They organized the Jeep safaris with woolen poncho’s and hot water bottles to ease the morning nip! Our naturalist was the famous and only lady in this profession, Suraj Bhai Meena. A celebrity and certainly deserving of it. Both she and Bharat the driver had an uncanny sense to detect wildlife and tigers in particular. I was amazed at how with a combination of her binoculars and my regular iPhone she took fabulous pictures and videos of the tigers where they were mere specks to the natural eye. Safaris are conducted mornings and evenings with plenty of time to lounge at the pool in the afternoon or enjoy the tented library. Besides the flora and fauna the massive ruined fortress of Ranthambore is a must. We really loved our stay which ended with a horse safari on Marwari horses and a breakfast in the wilderness all orchestrated by Aman and the manager. Very grateful to all for a dream vacation ! Ps: they also do the laundry gratis but well, I liked that touch!…
This the only place to stay in Ranthambore if you can afford it. The place is amazing as is the service. Unlike so many places where the staff is poorly trained, the Aman shines above. The tents are very large and are replaced every 3 years, so the tent looked brand new even though I do not know the last time mine was replaced. They keep the inside extremely clean. The food is excellent regardless of whether you want western or Indian, and although they have a daily menu, they will make you whatever you want. Viru was our Batman and took great care of us. And based on other reviews, I’m sure the others are also very good too. Aman gets priority at the national park to the better zones, but we did encounter issues due to a strike at the park. Since we had to enter far from the main gate, they even arranged for us to go by a comfortable Ford suv to the only place we could still get in. The safari vehicles are not comfortable and roomy like those in Africa, but that’s all you will see there. At least they were very clean. The good news was there was a mating pair of tigers in that zone. I’ve stayed at other high end places in Ranthambore in the past, and there just was no comparison to Aman. My only gripe was the dim lighting in the tent. All Aman’s have dim lighting, but I’ll give them a pass since it’s a tent, and not a hotel. Don’t look elsewhere if you want the best experience.…
This is the most luxurious place you could stay. Absolutely stunning tents. Fantastic food. In Ranthambore I am not sure you could find better. We received very individual attention. Beautiful scenic dinners with traditional music. E too care of us as our guide to the property and made sure we were comfortable. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff there. We were treated like royalty.
Just left this tranquil place after 3successful tiger hunting safaris! We booked 2 nights in this minimilistic yet super cosy tent which is as dramatic as a theatre stage! Room is very efficiently organised and very cosy. We happened to encounter cold weather during our stay and at no point did the tent feel cold. Our welcome and the stay was super …all the staff is great and the manager Kishan Singh always asked if we needed something. Casey our Batman was also very obliging and attentive to our requests… we both got a bit sick whilst we were there ( a cold and cough ) and he repeatedly offered to get us a doctor. Undoubtedly the highlight was the safari! With the help of the teamwork of the naturalist and the driver Pradeep Sharma &jitendra Singh we were able to spot 3 different tigers !!!! They never gave up- constantly communicating with other jeeps to see where is the best place to go and many times we noticed that they were the most knowledgeable and had most experience. Their enthusiasm is beyond anything you would imagine after so many years doing the job day after day. Unfortunately it was raining very very hard and animals tend to shelter but we still managed. The drivers driving is superb.we could enjoy the safari feeling at ease knowing that we were in experienced hands! The only downside is that we had booked 3 safaris and we could not cancel the morning one - it was very bad weather and after paying 200 euro per person we couldn’t cancel. I fully understand the fact that one would t be able to cancel under normal circumstances but considering how bad the storm was I felt it could have been an exception. Having said that , our safari was still fun and we managed to see the park in a different climate otherwise not accessible during monsoon season . Price is not on the low side but everything was great and understated. I would have loved at least one complementary bottle of wine since the tax was super high and the cheapest bottle will set you back over 50 euro. 10 points to sustainability efforts as regards the toiletries. An unforgettable experience made amazing by a team of lovely people! Reason to book this place: Pradeep, Jitendra & the team .…
I had three nights here over NYE, after a week in Amanbagh, and I can't say enough good things. Like other Amans, Aman-I-Khas is even more beautiful than the photos on the website suggest. The tents are really stupendous, and widely spaced; the pool is lovely (though a bit too chilly in December, even with some degree of heating); and there's a lovely, mature meadow in the centre of the property which gives a sense of walking into and through the bush. The service is of course phenomenal, and our Batman Bijay nailed it: attentive, helpful and kind, without being too formal or in any way overbearing. Food was terrific, and we did three great safaris, on the last of which we saw three tigers together. The safaris were a real treat: we had a great driver in Bharat, and a truly inspiring guide, Suraj, the first and maybe only female guide in the park. What I'd not expected was the safaris to be so fun: staying at an Aman is usually about austere, meditative beauty, whereas the safaris are just a blast, tearing at high speed through staggeringly diverse and beautiful scenery. The park has many different zones, and I recommend at least three safaris to get a sense of some of this variety. Looking back I wish we had spent a bit longer here: quite apart from the safaris, this is a truly beautiful place to spend time, and I will definitely be back someday.…
Simply perfection! Our Batman Rakesh arrived at our hotel in Delhi to escort us to the train station. He was amazing and cared for our needs the entire trip. He is a large part of what made everything so special. The train areas can be frenetic so having him guide you and selecting porters to assist was critical. He served us a breakfast the hotel had prepared as we enjoyed the views. Once arriving these tents are magnificent and beyond well appointed. Each one is so spacious with luxurious bedding and bath items. Heated blankets Felice The showers are surprisingly warm with great water pressure. The jeeps they use for safari are far superior than any we saw and so comfortable. For the morning ride they had shawls, blankets, hot water bottles etc to keep you warm. The drivers are exceptional and they have a contract with certainty guides. We were fortunate to see the tigers but even had we not all the other animals and landscape would have been satisfying. The guides and drivers work hard to assist in locating the tigers. The food service is nice with my favorite being the day the chef grilled numerous items outside and you choose from delicious meats, seafoods and vegetables. They are happy to prepare anything you wish. A visit to the chefs garden will inspire you about all the options. Yoga by the pool was nice as was the fire pit in the evening. This was a remarkable experience and one we will not forget. The Aman team, the regal tents and stunning nature makes this a must on any bucket list.…
It’s tempting to just say that Aman-I-Khas is faultless. That’s true, but it doesn’t do justice to the connections, beauty and life that a visit gifts you. Of course, you go to see the tigers - and we were lucky enough to see three together, two females and a male - but there is much more to it. The landscaping is beautiful, and there’s a quiet joy in simply visiting the lake and seeing the birds, or going on a mindful walk. The people who all work there are extraordinarily kind, attentive and warm. The tents are amazing. I do not want to say more, so that I don’t spoil the delight when you first walk in, or when you come back from a safari. The massages and treatments are some of the best I have ever had. There’s also the moments of connectedness and joyous surprise. Maybe around the famous fire pit, or the events such as the dancing, talks and flowers. We loved it, and are so thankful for the memories and experiences. My special thanks goes to our Batman, Beijay, who is a true gentleman with a big heart. Thank you Beijay for all the care you showed us.…
We stayed for two nights at the Aman-I-Kas property while on a two week Abercrombie and Kent trip through India. The other properties we stayed at were Oberois. The Oberoi hotels are ornate and beautiful, but the Amon is unlike anywhere I have ever stayed before. There are only 10 tents on the property and they are all the same. Remember the Harry Potter movie where he walks into a regular tent and inside is a huge luxurious space with multiple rooms? These tents are like that. There are dual vanities, a Toto washlet, stone soaking tub, plenty of charging stations, AC/heat, and multiple sitting areas. The best part of our stay was our Batman, Veru. Batman is a very old term for essentially a butler in India. He brought us our requested tea, coffee, and pastries at 6:15 in the morning before our game drive started at 6:45. When we returned to the property four hours later after our first game drive, I asked if we could do a couples massage before lunch (those Jeep rides were bumpy!) and the staff immediately made it happen. I had an Ayurvedic massage and it was the best massage I’ve ever had. Other highlights are the outstanding Indian food (they have a western menu but we did not try this), nightly musicians, beautiful pool and organic gardens. The wildlife in this area is spectacular; and rivals Africa. Of course there are bears and tigers, as well as crocodiles and many species of deer. The folks at Aman made sure we were comfortable on the game drives by sending us with blankets, hot water bottles, tea and pastries on the chilly mornings, and cold water and sandwiches in the afternoon. The also provided safari hats and face cloths to help with the sun and dust. An incredible experience. …
