Vanghat is a gem of a place and certainly a highlight during my recent trip to India. From the moment I sat on the quaint raft to cross the Ramganga and trek to my delightful mud cottage I knew that I had made a good decision to visit. The beauty of the surroundings is breath-taking, the abundance of birds a...

A heavenly place right beside the Ramganga river. The resort emphasises on forest conservation and ecological sustainability....you become one with nature from the moment you enter the resort. It is an apt place to book into if you are looking to be away from crowds and vehicles and pollution. For, at vanghat, you are amidst nature with innumerable birds giving...

A place off the beaten track – literally!!! A place nestled in the back of beyond, far from the maddening crowd – literally!!!! A piece of heaven on the path less trod!!!! A place that snuggles into the depths of one’s heart and keeps surfacing at times!!!! With apologies to Wordsworth, For oft when on my couch I lie, In...

Vanghat finds die hard fans in me and my family. Its peaceful and rejuvenating. It is a place which you don't tire of. A place where you would like to return again and again. The quaint mud houses, bonfires under the starlit sky, the gently moving river all add to the rustic charm of the place. The staff is friendly...

I was told that you earned the delights of Vanghat! You truly do. The hike to camp tests your forest cravings and fitness levels. And when you eventually get there, you know it was all SO VERY WORTH IT. At Vanghat, the forest is yours...as also the placid Ramganga and its fish preening through the eddies...and the multitude of birds...

A good place for birding and relaxing in the wild. However, they do seem to like English speakers only. I came to India for 3 weeks from USA and this was my only other destination in India besides my home. Even after talking in Hindi, I was getting replies in English as if I am not in my own country...

We had a great time here; in fact it was the highlight of our 3 weeks in India, so we were glad we did it right at the end. Vanghat is a really special place. Given the 2.5km walk in and the river crossing it is remarkably luxurious with lovely characterful rooms, just about the right amount of electricity (ie...

About 2-3 Kms walk after you park the car so basic fitness is required. The resort is in the middle of a beautiful dense forest, great place to escape from polluted Delhi. Simple food and accomodation but nothing to blame as its in the middle of nowhere and everything has to be carried on foot by the staff of vanghat....

This was my second trip to Vanghat. An absolutely delightful place, and very remote. Stayed on one of the mud huts. Which are quite comfortable though spartan, considering its around a couple of miles from any motorable road. The trip to getting there is quite an adventure and thx kids loved the river crossing on the tube rafts. We went...

Stayed 3 nights. Took the road from Delhi. Excellent: Birder's paradise. Prime Location. Next to the river. Pristine waters. The owner - Sumantha Ghosh's trekking experience is informative. Enjoyable and stimulating conversations. Huts are clean. Staff is helpful & courteous. Special mention - Mukesh, Dharmendar, Puran. Forest is enchanting. Food - home like. Evening Bon-fire. No fence around the lodge...
