Vanghat, the internationally acclaimed eco-lodge, is located on a secluded bank of the Western Ramganga River, inside the Kalagarh division of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. It is one of the most remote wildlife lodges in Northern India. Accessible only by a 2km cross-country walk and raft across river waters, Vanghat lodge is a wilderness paradise unlike anything else to be found around Jim Corbett National Park. Only during the hot months of the year (March to May) is it accessible by jeep, too. Vanghat takes you deep into the forest for an experience of living right where nature is untouched and thriving. You will explore every trail of the forest community on foot. Every season offers a different landscape and various birds and wild animals to encounter. If nights around the campfire, forest living, and complete immersion in the wild is your vacation ideal, Vanghat should be your choice.

It was a great place to stay for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and people who are looking for perfect place for digital detoxification. I went there for a wilderness programme of 5 nights . Their guided forest trails, birding activity were really enjoyable and refreshing.

Location: Vanghat is one of a kind. Nestled in a forest besides the Ramganga river. There is no direct road to the property. You entered the peace zone as you walk on foot, then take a jeep, the cross the Ramganga river on a lovely raft and then on foot. The entry itself is surprising and surreal at the same time. Accommodation: We stayed in the mud cottage. It was beautiful. It was as sustainable as it can be. No geyser (hot water can be fetched to your room if required), water in flasks, no plastic or one time use stuffs. Flora and Fauna: The flora and Fauna is quite diverse. We got to meet a lots of new varieties of plants. One can observe more than 10 varieties of amazing birds just sitting in the common area. You can spot lot more on your trails. If lucky you can spot elephants, Percupines, tigers, mountain goats, a variety of birds, sloths, etc. Guide: Ramji is an excellent educationist and conservator. He has deep knowledge on the flora and fauna and various other topics. He is very gentle and is great with kids too. we collected seeds and he taught us how make seed jewellery (he has a good collection of seeds). Other staffs including Santosh was courteous and knowledgeable. He was able to tell us a lot about birds around. Trails and Waterfall: Ramji takes you nature trails each morning and evening. One can go along the river, over the hills, take a dip in the river (also cross it), visit the waterfall which was simply surreal. Food: food is simple and delicious. Overall the visit was enriching (learnt and documented a lot about flora and fauna, collected seeds and learned seed jewellery) . My 5 yr old had a great time and felt he just bloomed there experiencing the awe and wonders of nature. A must visit place.

Vanhat is a wonderful choice of place to stay if you are looking to get away from the noisy touristic crowds. All staff were helpful, friendly & did all they could to make our stay a successful one. Many thanks to Ram our naturalist guide ~ your knowledge is awesome & we enjoyed your company so much! The food throughout our 4night stay was absolutely delicious not to mention plentiful! We would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. A truly wonderful experience.

As a nature loving couple, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vanghat. Located in the heart of wilderness, surrounded by forested mountain slopes, and with the live-giving Ramganga River flowing by, Vanghat is a haven for wildlife. Both inside the property and outside it, life abounds in the form of vibrant Himalayan birds, mischievous Terai langurs, shy barking deer, and more. If you are really lucky, you might also get a glimpse of the lord of the forest, the tiger, or the gentle giants, the elephants as they come down to the river to drink or bathe in its waters. There was plenty of activities (hiking, swimming, stargazing, etc.,) to do at Vanghat and the naturalist there, Ram, will ensure you enjoy every moment of the stay and also learn new things. The way to Vanghat itself is thrilling but requires a basic fitness level as you need to trek for about 1.8 km and also cross the river on a raft. Wildlife lovers would also appreciate that fact that Vanghat is a truly Eco-friendly place ensuring that tourism goes hand in hand with conservation. Loved the food here as well - warm and fresh and delectable. Everything about Vanghat was truly memorable. The best thing is that it is an excellent place for a digital detox. You can rest your eyes by shifting them from cell phones and laptop screens to the wide expanses of incredible nature beauty. Vanghat is a place we would definitely visit again and again whenever city life becomes too trying and we wish to rejuvenate ourselves.

In Dec.2022 my partner and I visited The Vanghat in the Himalayan Foothills. It was —— quite simply —-amazing! Getting to the camp itself was a brilliant experience. The camp is staffed by extremely helpful and polite people and very knowledgeable guides. Hurricane Lanterns lead the way to restaurant where delicious, freshly cooked vegetarian meals are served. There is no mobile or internet connection, just absolute peace and quiet, apart from animal and bird calls. Wonderful game and bird walks down to a crystal, clear river, backed by mountains. We saw leopard, hornbills, kingfishers and fish eagles to name a few. Also, very close sightings of brilliantly coloured birds. In the evenings we sat under the stars by a fire discussing the day’s sightings with my stepson and his partner and some of the guides. Vanghat is a truly special place. We feel privileged to have had the experience. Anne Adams and Bill Porter.

Living here is once in a lifetime kind of experience. This is the closest one can ever be with nature while experiencing the warmth and comfort the resort has to offer. The staff too is extremely very hospitable and very polite having extremely good knowledge about the flora and fauna of the environment around. While living in the resort itself you'll be continuously hearing calls of sambhar deers, barking deers as well as spotted deers, if lucky spotting a tiger and animals such as elephants, otters, etc isn't very uncommon.

We were indeed lucky to find a booking for three nights at Vanghat during the year end peak season, when my wife and I made a last minute plan to getaway from the usual NCR pollution . An off beat resort nestled in nature’s lap, tucked away within the buffer zone of Corbett and situated on a hill slope by the Ramganga river, Vanghat was a much needed ventilator for our systems. A two kilometre walk beyond the open countryside parking area; on narrow and at times steep hill side paths followed by a river crossing via a bamboo raft, the lodge is hidden across the western bank of the Ramganga. There are about nine huts and we were booked in the Forest rest house situated at the very entrance within the property. December end weather was expectedly very cold but the ever so hospitable resort staff ensured our comfort throughout. We had hot water bottles placed in our beds besides adequate blankets. There are no facilities for heaters and geysers but plenty of hot water was provided in flasks and buckets whenever needed. Although we had been on many wild life safaris; this was our first birding trip and thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to Team Vanghat. Ramavtar made us feel part of the natural habitat on the guided walking tours; an environmentalist with such an amazing wealth of knowledge across many disciplines, he was central to the experience . Madhuri, a naturalist was yet another gem in the resort who kept us company with her warmth and shepherded us through various activities including making of eco friendly earrings and pendants. Jeswin led the walking safari on our last day besides being with us during meals and coordinating arrangements. Every member of the team; and there were so many, did a splendid job of ensuring a memorable stay The food was excellent; simple and super tasty, and the evening campfires provided an ideal setting for social interaction among all the guests. An amazing escape from the city, with almost no internet or telephone connectivity; the die hards of course could walk a few hundred yards outside the resort during the day, to connect with a tower or push the odd what apps message. If the resort management are able to provide a fire place for all the guests in the absence of capacity in the forest to support heaters, it would be perfect place for the winters. We would definitely return during less colder periods, and add a caution here to those planning a visit, that the walk from the parking area needs some level of fitness and hence not suitable for old folks.

Before the year ends, wanted to make the most of the remaining casual leaves of the year. Hence, we made this trip to the Vanghat wildlife lodge located on the bank of the Ramganga river deep inside Kalagarh Tiger Reserve division of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. Vanghat is blessed with wilderness, eco-friendly lodges, easy access to the Ramganga river bed, forest and mountain trails and hikes, and a wide variety of beautiful birds. More importantly, the staff here are unbelievably helpful and caring. From the parking lot, it requires crossing the Ramganga Bridge, a cross-country hike of 1 km, another km of four-wheel car ride, and then a raft over the Ramganga River. It would have never been possible without the help of the caring and hardworking staff of the lodge. Food was great- diverse, healthy and delicious. The naturalists and the guides were immensely enthusiastic and surprisingly patient in guiding us during multiple trails and hikes along the river bed, mountains and forests and in spotting different bird species and explaining their features. Some of the apparently rare birds (for us) were easily seen at the crack of dawn near the Buddha bird bath area of the lodge itself. Many others were spotted during multiple treks. Below is the full-list of birds seen during our three-day trip. 1. Crested kingfisher 2. Common kingfisher 3. White-capped redstart 4. Plumbeous water redstart 5. Leiothrix 6. White-crested laughingthrush 7. Blue whistling thrush 8. Grey treepie 9. Red-billed blue magpie 10. Lesser yellownape (Woodpecker) 11. Grey-headed woodpecker (male and female) 12. Greater flameback (woodpecker) 13. Kalij pheasant (male and female) 14. Rusty-cheeked scimitar babbler 15. Blue-winged Siva 16. Rufous-bellied niltava 17. Hoopoes 18. Grey bush chat (male and female) 19. Long-tailed shrike 20. Red-vented bulbul 21. Black bulbul 22. Black-crested bulbul 23. Himalayan bulbul 24. Grey wagtail 25. Scarlet minivet (male and female flock) 26. Grey-hooded warbler 27. Ashy-throated Warbler 28. Lesser fish eagle 29. Chestnut-bellied nuthatch 30. Velvet-fronted nuthatch 31. White-throated fantail 32. Great barbet 33. Blue-throated barbet 34. Lineated barbet 35. Wallcreeper 36. Common emerald dove (male and female) 37. Forktail 38. Bar-winged flycatcher 39. Vanghat has become synonymous with peace and tranquility for me. The place in itself has a feeling of 'ZEN' and the wonderful team there curates memorable experiences. All the activities a very well coordinated and communicated . This place is much beyond just LOOKING FOR TIGER in the jeep. I experienced the calm of the jungle along with watching other wildlife in their natural habitat . Sitting along the Ramganga river was particularly blissful. Also i must say its a birders paradise. Though I dont have much knowledge about birding, I was able to see many not soo common species thanks to Ram ( naturalist ) and his team ( Jaswin and Madhuri) . They are one enthusiastic bunch esp Ram who kept us interested and looking all around all the time. Thanks a ton Really admire driving skills of Rakesh who drove us through that mountain terrain . And thanks to Manoj and Santhosh who entertained all are requests . In brief - it's a beautiful place with wonderful people and I look forward to visit again

Vanghat is a unique one of a kind property. The passion and vision of the owners is clearly visible in the eco-sustainable vernacular architecture. The presence of Ramganga takes the experience to the next level. Vanghat has all the ingredients of a world class Eco retreat. Mr Ramavatar the Naturist has in-depth knowledge of the flora fauna and enthralled the children by helping them spot Otters and various other birds and animals.
