We went on the weekend of 3rd September to 5th September from Chennai. We had booked two tents and one cottage. There are two luxury tents, two normal tents and two cottages. One cottage is occupied by the owners. Food: Portion size was limited. The vegetables were served using a table-spoon, in less quantity. I prefer serving with a big serving spoon and decent portions. Eating banana leaf provided was small and not big enough to eat meals. Tea came almost 45 mins-1 hr after ordering. Snacks are served. We got Potato Bajji on day 1 and Onion Pakoras on day 2, but the portion size is very very limited. Extra portions are chargeable. We were served snacks at almost 5:30pm only. It should ideally be served with tea. For Dinner, the gravy provided with with Chappathi was insufficient. Upon asking more, they said they ran out of gravy. It is not difficult to plan quantity. OVerall taste is a measly 5.5 out of 10, for all meals. Cabin: Cabin was full of cobwebs and wasn't cleaned in spite of requests too. Bed was creaky and noisy. Both beds were at different heights. We had inconvenience with a kid. Cabin doesn't have power backup. Tent: Tent was spacious and beds were good. Beds are sufficient for 4 adults. Do note that the toilet is kind of open, but there is sufficient height, so that no one outside can see the person bathing or using the loo. Toilet will be full of insects at night. Tent has power backup, but not for AC. Lights will work. One pedestal fan is provided with oscillation for 4 beds. IF you prefer continuous flow of air, you might find it difficult. Dining area: Dining area is common near the kitchen but is only an 8 seater. The accommodation can accommodate 20-25 people so you might have to wait for your lunch turn. Since other guests are on vacation too, don't expect people to hurry up with food, like a city restaurant. If you have kids and they start nagging by telling they are hungry, there is nothing that can be done to it. You need to wait, else plan better and be the first to have lunch. Dining area at night is not recommended. Insects kept falling on our plates(banana leaf). Dogs keep coming near when dining. We are not pet lovers, so this was a nuisance for us. Kids felt uncomfortable with dogs and insects. We really had to beg and fight for making them serve food in front of the rooms. Swimming pool: There is pool but we cant swim. We can enjoy a good bath time and the inlet water flow is like a jacuzzi, when stood underneath it. We checked in on Friday and we could it use it on Saturday. It was dirty on Sunday and it wasn't cleaned on Sunday before we left. So technically, pool can be used only once. Cricket ground: There is a huge cricket ground but it is rented out to matches. We could use the outer areas for playing with kids. Parking: There is limited parking near the kitchen and a huge parking near the main door, but still the rooms are about 3-4 mins walk from the parking. Not sure if elderly people can walk so far. SUVs might be able to go till the room, but definitely not vehicles with low ground clearance. Secondly, not sure whether the hosts will allow. We did not ask.…
The place claims they are Farm Stay & provide luxury\ deluxe tents\ cottages & they are mincing no words here. If you are looking for a luxury resort\ hotel, this is not the place. Location: Location is quite easy to reach. Take a left after crossing Katpadi junction over bridge from Vellore... after Latteri bus stand take a right, travel about 5 kms. The board on right side of road is small but visible. The approach road is on gravel & sand with a big incline. Once you enter, follow the Farm Vehicles path to reach parking for guests. There is huge parking area with sign board as Parking at entrance which is for others visiting the cricket ground. Check-In: No check-in process really as i had booked by calling them directly\ paid online & register was signed in \ id proof submitted at the room directly. Rooms: They provide tents which are simple, adequate & provide a farm effect around you. The A\C was quick in cooling the room. It was raining on both the days of our stay but NO leakage\ seeping of water. They have double roof, one with tent & further with thatched roof. Effective. Open portion in the restroom & bath may not bode well with all. They were accommodating in doing some patch work when one of the guest was uncomfortable. Room Provisions: They have been thoughtful in providing a table with 4 chairs outside the room for seating & whiling away time, the bubbletop water can, stand to dry wet clothes, geyser, backup power supply for power cuts, 2 way switches for both exterior & interior lights. Environment: We reached around 7 PM when power was cut-off & the place was in complete darkness + raining heavily. Naturally worried as we were shown our way using torch lights (frogs croaking non stop\ swish from the blowing wind, this is an experience in itself), I was worried if my family is going to like this decision of mine to stay here after all. All that changed next day after a few hours of spending time outside. The place was windy, spacious & untamed (plants were left to grow wild). Cats, dogs, geese, cows, goats loitering around. Cats \ dogs were friendly. Kid spent a significant time playing with the cats. Pool & Facilities: This is not a pool in itself, more a irrigation tank with water flowing out regularly. Not chlorinated water, etc.. not suitable for people who are specific on these aspects. Cycles were clearly in shortage considering # of guests, they have a place for mud bath, cricket ground, badminton rackets, etc. You can keep loitering around endlessly if the weather is good. It was nice to do that & sit watching the cats & dogs running around, etc. Internet connection provided by them was adequate for browsing. Cellular network itself was good enough as well. We did try a hill climb which was good & reasonably safe. Hill approach steps are behind Kalabhairavar temple, we got mixed up with one another temple initially. Food: The food is cooked by the hostess & a team of members\ served by them as well. Considering the small size of the farm stay this is more than adequate but a bit pricey. As stated earlier, this is not a hotel\ resort & expect good south Indian food & that is what you get. Service was good & food tasty. Improvements: Some thoughts... 1. Provide working easy chairs in front of the room. Some were not working & not adequate, each room needs atleast 2. 2. Worry about coconuts\ leaves falling on parked vehicles. 3. Optimize food cost a little bit. Can attract more repeat guests. Overall: This was a memorable stay. Worth visiting again.…
Visited nanillam farm stay and stayed in the tents. Very nice and peaceful place and a very comfortable stay. A great place to unwind and relax. The property owners were friendly and give their best service to ensure that travellers are comfortable and feel at home. Overall a great place. Taste of food and quality to be improved. Highly recommended to pay a visit and experience Nanillam farm stay
Just imagine getting into a rustic village experience within 3 hours drive from chennai. Great for family outing. Cottages are decent. Food is local produce and cooked with utmost care. The hosts Mrs Priya and Mr. Sudhakar who run this place are very passionate and leave no stones unturned to provide a great experience. Be it cycling, hiking, hill climbing, farming, swimming, village visit, petting.. you get to do a bit of everything. Need couple of nights stay with easy access from either chennai or bangalore.
A piece of heaven on earth. Sudhakar and Priya were excellent hosts. Nagaraj was available around the clock as well. They went above and beyond to help us charge our electric car. The larger tent was amazing and accommodated us - a family of four comfortably. The cycles and pool were the icing on the cake. The home cooked fresh food was finger licking good. An Overall amazing farm experience with the animals and greenery all around. Looking forward to visit again. All the best!!
