This was our third visit to Kabini River Lodge in the last 3-4 years and we keep going back because it is the best experience you can get in south India if you love wildlife. The safaris into the Nagarahole national Park are a delight, and the guides at the Lodge are experts with the park, the wildlife, and have a great respect for their place of work. The safaris start on time, we get to spend enough time watching the birds and smaller animals, though of course, a sighting of the big cat is the most exciting. The rooms are great, facing the Kabini reservoir, the food is good. The entire staff cares about making the stay comfortable. We will be back!

The guides on the jungle bus and on the morning boat were well informed and patient in finding animals and birds. We fortunately saw a tiger but also lots of deer, gaur bison, elephant, wild boar My biggest disappointment was having to pay over Rs1000 for each afternoon and morning trip into the forest to use my 70-300mm lens. I am not a professional just a happy snapper. No information of the size of the fee is mentioned in their website.

Jungle lodges… my go to place , for peace and oneness with nature. Each safari we took was a wealth of knowledge, imparted by the guide CR Nagesh, with superb tracking skills, cheerful nature, vast information about the Jungle. How lucky we were to see Madame Tigris twice to sight a pack of dhols at play, to see eagles, and Hawks, the Samba and Peacock dancing ……..Bliss! It was heaven !! About the room comfortable as always, the food the same. Yes the people who served us are very courteous and my sisters who had come from abroad really enjoyed the experience. Jungle Lodges…..This is my fourth visit and I will keep coming.

This resort ranks among the finest jungle retreats I've experienced. Operated and kept by the Karnataka Government, the resort boasts an expansive layout with numerous amenities. Upon arrival, guests can visit the resource center at the reception to purchase any needed items. The property features extensive grounds for both children and adults to enjoy games and leisurely strolls. A bar and a library stocked with wildlife literature are available, along with an indoor gaming zone equipped with carrom, chess, table tennis, and playing cards. Adjacent to the gaming area lies a butterfly garden, home to a variety of butterflies. Further from the indoor gaming space, one can find diverse lodging options provided by the resort, including dormitories, tented rooms, viceroy rooms, and the expansive maharaja cottages. Nestled among the accommodations is the dining area, where the resort serves three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as evening snacks. Our accommodation in the Maharaja cottage featured spacious rooms with large bathrooms and a balcony overlooking the Kabini River. The rooms were equipped with essential items like toiletries, towels, and a dental kit. The resort's package includes two safaris daily, with an additional water safari on select days. Guests can also enjoy a speed boat ride after 11 AM. The safari experiences were the highlight of our visit, allowing us to observe a Tiger and other wildlife, including Spotted deer, Gaur, Elephants, Samba deer, Mongoose, and a diverse array of birds. The water safari provided sightings of Crocodiles, Otters, Cranes, Cormorants, Bald eagles, Serpent eagles, Wild dogs, and Elephants. My stay was immensely satisfying, and I eagerly anticipate my return.

Very good wildlife safaris using jeeps that carry 6 guests OK, but more than that would be very cramped. The larger trucks and busses carry far too many people so you need to pay for the best options. The service and food was great. The rooms were pretty basic. Would be good to have a comfortable chair and a desk chair in the room (there is a desk, but only a stool to sit on which is very uncomfortable after coming back from a 4 hour trip being bounced about on a jeep safari. A day or two isn't enough to garauntee wildlife sightings. We were there a week and saw Tigers several times but leapards only one day. Gaur, mongoose, squirrels and wild dogs we saw only a couple of times. Elephants, monkeys and spotted deer we saw nearly every day.

A experience of the best of Karnataka’s wildlife like none else With no pun intended, let me address the elephant in the room. This is a pricey vacation. Pricing matches some of the top 5 star hotels, perhaps globally even. This isn’t reflected in the rooms, sheets or bath supplies. The luxury one pays for is the experience. 1. The experience of being woken up by the care taker at exactly 5.18 am each morning - Shantakumar for us. Being served a hot cup of filter coffee before leaving for the safari. Shantakumar’s service was extended in little ways - he was attentive to our needs and truly cared that we had our coffees, that the seniors in the group ate on time etc akin to luxury of having family away from home. 2. We were blessed with Naturalist team of Ravi and Rajesh. The learnings from each of our safaris is for a lifetime. They are super knowledgeable, local talent - know the forests inside out. Now - there are ways of being a naturalist team who show tourists around. Their priority was always for the wildlife, by maintaining the right distance, respectful of the forest and wildlife. Bird calls, animals calls, hundreds of species of flora and fauna - they knew it all. On a day we weren’t lucky enough to spot something, they gave it their everything. I hope that their tribe grows and thrives, for the sake of our forests, our wildlife and our future generations. 3. The meals at JLR served were homely, with a focus on local cuisine - locally sourced and produced. Even the food waste would go to local cattle. Clean cutlery, plates - attentive staff, trying their best. 4. JLR’s location in itself is like a dream - on the edge of River Kabini. Olde bungalows and delightful earthy furniture. Lastly, it’s mostly an all local team - our spends are well invested in the local economy. To be on a getaway where everyone is well cared for - physically, mentally and intellectually - naturally luxurious. I highly recommend this experience esp for the ones keen on experiencing the best of wildlife and tiger conservation efforts

Beautiful property on Kabini surrounded by nature. The highlights of the stay are the 2 safaris (later afternoon and early morning) both by keep and boat. We got a chance to see elephants, a leopard, deers and plenty of other animals. Rooms are basic but clean with hot running water.

Loved the spacious and clean rooms, lush property. Mahadevan, our attendant took good care of us. We had a good variety of very tasty food. The serving staff were very pleasant and attended to us well, especially since we had very senior citizens with us. The safaris were well coordinated and our “super guide” Venkatesh needs special mention, he took really good care of us, went out of his way to ensure we got good sightings
