Was a welcome getaway in the post pandemic lockdown situation.
Things we liked was
the all inclusive price.
Beds were comfortable.
Food was really good served hot and service was very nice.
Staff were polite, caring and very hospitable. They stretched the lunch time to accommodate our late check-in.
Hand sanitizers were available at the lobby reception and dining area.
Decent wifi 2 Mbps and smart tv with internet

Am told they have just 15 rooms at the property that gives the place a boutique touch.

Things to be cautious about:
Had a visit from a centipede within the blankets but it's understandable given it's a forest area.
The two mineral water bottles in the room are not complimentary and cost about 150 a bottle as we found out during checkout.
Also the boat ride of the kabini reservoir on property is about Rs500 a person with a 28% tax.
Also if you have any amex cards, they won't be accepted here.
We got rooms 104 King bed and 106 twin beds and they are both situated on the first floor that are accessible only by stairs. While they were fine for us, if you have anyone elderly be sure to inform the resort at the time of confirmation to avoid surprises.

Waterwoods is an excellent property right on the banks of the river Kabini. This 4 star property has very helpful and courteous staff and caters to families and couples alike. The covid precautions are well in place with temperature checks on arrival, staff wearing masks at all times and hand santitizers stationed at all public places.

Rooms : Spacious, clean and comfortable. All rooms have a river view which you can enjoy from the large balcony. I enjoyed the overall forest theme with the pictures of wild animals in the rooms and tigers pug marks on the flooring outside the rooms.

Food : great but not exceptional. The spread is decent and we preferred the vegetarian food over non veg. They must have an amazing tandoor because everything that came out if it was topnotch. I enjoyed the salads as the veggies were fresh and locally sourced. If you like early meals at the buffet then you ll be disappointed as breakfast lunch and dinner is served only from 8 30am, 1 00pm and 8 15ish respectively. But this didn't bother us much. A must try is dining by the lakeside under the stars and with your private bonfire.

Things to do : the boat ride though tad expensive is much recommended. We saw herons, coromants, ducks, otters while enjoying the serene beauty of the river. There s also options of kayaking , coracle ride. Do visit the farm and greenhouse on the property where most fruits and veggies are grown and sourced for the in house restaurant. The swimming pool is open for guests too.
The safari shouldn't be missed at any cost. We went for the evening safari and got to spot a tiger in addition to many other birds n animals. Do take a pair of binoculars when you go and keep all your senses alert to spot the flora and fauna.
The pond at the reception is also quite well maintained with beautiful fish and even a stingray.
There are several books with regards to wildlife and forests which me and my daughter enjoyed reading. They also have a gameroom with indoor games like TT, carrom etc. Kids can enjoy the trampoline near the greenhouse.

Dhanya the manager is a naturalist and I learnt a great deal from her about the property and Indian forests in general. She also kept good company to my daughter and showed us stuff like a parastized chrysalis and a hornets nest

A few cons :

I wish the patrons were a little more cautious about the pandemic precautions. While all the hotel staff wore masks throughout, some of the patrons didnt do so even in the public areas.

The balcony is a little unsafe for small chidren and they should be carefully monitored. But the rest of the property is safe for kids.

I wished they had a hand held shower in the bathrooms

All in all, I highly recommend visiting this property and Im sure to visit again in the near future.

Great hospitality and lovely property. The rooms are huge and airy. The resort is small compared to other resorts in Kabini but definitely one of the best!! Booking was managed well by Mr. Vinay and he was very informative about the checkin, checkout, inclusions and exclusions in the package. We had a warm welcome at the resort and was served a welcome drink at the time of checkin. We had booked a King room with tree deck. The tree deck overlooking the river is absolutely relaxing. A great book in hand and on the tree deck hammock by the river side is bliss!! Lots of beautiful bird species can be spotted too. The room was huge, soothing upholstery. Coming to safaris , it is arranged via JLR and JLR happens to be next door from Waterwoods so thats a major plus point. You can book the safaris at the waterwoods reception desk. Food was very good. Decent spread for Lunch and Dinner. Palatable food which is very tasty. Resort was following covid protocols strictly and we were more than happy to see that. Staff was wearing masks and hand gloves at all times. Although buffet was there, the food was served to our table by the staff. Tea, Coffee and snacks were kept for us beyond their actual serving time as we had gone for jungle safari. Alcoholic drinks can be ordered at extra cost. Swimming pool was closed since it was raining when we visited. Even Bonfire was not set up due to rainy weather. The activity room was very well maintained with great indoor games equipment and boards. However, there are a few downsides - we did not get hot water for 30mins at 10am. There is no hand shower or a bucket with mug for people who are not comfortable with only shower bath. With food, We were not very happy with Breakfast. There could be an option of brown bread and couple of more less oily food for people who are conscious about health. The fruits at breakfast was only papaya. I feel there could be other options too.

Among all the resorts situated at Kabini, Waterwoods wins hands down for the location. It is situated bang on the river Kabini and all rooms plus common areas face the serene and tranquil riverfront. Besides, the resort itself has thick foliage cover making it even more pleasant in all seasons. We travelled in October and enjoyed both cold and rains in moderation.
All the rooms, including entry level ones, are spacious and come with a sit out or a balcony. The pool is mid-size and just perfect for a leisurely swim. I'd highly recommend the experience of kayaking which is provided by the resort for a nominal charge. We enjoyed it so much that we opted for it on all three days.
Another added advantage is that this property is just 800meters from the gate of the Nagarhole National Park and so it is very convenient to go for jungle safaris.
And now the most important thing, Waterwoods resort staff is extremely polite, helpful and courteous. The service is prompt and all meals are excellent. They offer a blend of local and pan Indian cuisine which was yummy. Plus they were also offering evening tea and light snacks at no extra cost. This really proves the genuine hospitality of the property.
Overall we had a wonderful experience and will highly recommend this property to our friends and family.

When I planned a 3 day trip to Kabini and booked myself with the family at Waterwoods resort, I was thinking that it's going to be another usual accomodation with some frills thrown here and there. But my impression changed the moment I stepped out of our car at the resort. The welcome was genuinely warm, the check-in was a breeze and we were guided to our rooms on the ground floor. The very sight of the room facing the lake, made all of us extremely comfortable and happy. Big rooms with a large bed, spacious bathroom, clean linen, all made me realise that I had made the right choice. Food was awesome, all employees were very polite, warm and obliging. Wide choice for breakfast, fresh fruits and vegetables from their own garden made it a healthy option. Our vacation was totally relaxing and we never missed our home back in chennai. The ever smiling Dhanya's environment consciousness helped us to understand better the dynamics of the resort. Library could have more options for reading. Three cheers to all the employees of Waterwoods and I have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone visiting Kabini. Really A Home Away From Home!

This is the most fantastic resort I have ever visited. Waterwoods is located on bank of a river and all the rooms are river facing. We had booked Superior King room. It was very spacious, had wooden flooring, gorgeous views and a private deck. Room maintenance is pretty good. All the meals were included (Breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner). Package also includes activities like bonfire, nature walk, kite flying etc. They have setup individual bonfire arrangements with table & chairs. You can early block your favourite seat and ask staff to arrange candle light dinner along with bonfire by the river side.
The resort also offers coracle ride and kayaking at very low prices of Rs 150 per person. It is the on the spot booking. One must not miss Kayaking and coracle ride at any cost.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Waterwoods resort. We didn't even go for boat safari or Jeep Safari as we were enjoying every moment in the resort.
You can visit both Sunset and Sunrise along river beach at one place without having to travel anywhere.
Best thing is the service. Staff is very polite and humble. I would surely recommend a stay in Waterwoods atleast once.

Beautiful property set on the Kabini river. Quaint setting with beautiful views at sunset.

Large rooms with beautiful furnishings. Picturesque views of the Kabini river from the balcony.

Extremely friendly staff that organised the safaris for us and catered to all of our requests (my brother was lactose-intolerant and they went out of their way to make sure that all the food he got was lactose free).

We went for the boat and jeep safaris and saw a tiger on both occasions, which was incredible. We saw some incredible biodiversity on the safaris.

We also got a chance to go kayaking on the river which was fantastic. We were alone on the river with just the serene nature surrounding us.

The food was excellent. Great dosas for breakfast.

I was also pleased to know that the property had a zero plastic policy and sourced all the food locally.

A gorgeous property right next to the serene backwaters of Kabini. Beautifully designed to camouflage with the surrounding nature, we were very impressed from the minute we walked into the resort.

The rooms are all by the water, spacious and clean with unhindered views of the water.

The dining area which is just a few meters away from the water is semi-open and beautiful . A perfect spot to enjoy a warm cup of coffee. All the meals served here were delicious with a varied spread and the staff were extremely courteous obliging to our special requests too.

This was our first trip as a family of 7, post the lockdown and it was indeed a very memorable one. A special mention to the resort manager, Dhanya for her warm welcome and making us feel very comfortable and also all the staff under her care.

Thank you Waterwoods for a great experience and we look forward to planning our next trip there!

We finalized this resort after a lot of research online and talking to friends. And we definitely made the best chocie! The view from the room is just unmatched in any other place around Kabini. The approach to the water is less than 50m away from the room’s balcony. The entire resort is very peaceful and well maintained.

We went during COVID and there were proper precautions in place everywhere. Including the buffet where they will serve you your food. Food was great at the resort but dont expect a lot of variety. They have limited items but each and every one of them taste amazing and is prepared fresh. The resort also arranges for safari trips for you and can enjoy without worrying about anything.

Overall it was a great stay and we enjoyed a lot. A much needed break from city life. Definitely recommend and going back soon! The staff and everyone else on the property is very friendly.

They also have a few resident dogs who are very playful.

What we liked:
Perfect location if you are interested in safari, just 800 meters from safari starting point.

Staff is efficient and always ready to help.

Devraj is always ready to help you plan your next day safari. We did 3 salaries in as many days. We couldn't spot tiger or leopard, but we saw black panther and other wild animals.

They have nice garden/farm where you can see many plants and fruit trees.
Extremely family friendly property. We had 1 year old with us and the staff was always accommodative for our baby food requests.

First floor rooms have double height roof. We loved that.

Slightly below expectation:
Food spread is very limited, specially if you are vegetarian. The menu items start repeating if you stay more than 2 nights. But I will give them benefit of the fact that they use 90% local supplies, so probably that limits the variety.

Not the best of swimming pool facilities. Swimming pool shower was not working. Swimming pool not temperature controlled, so difficult to use in early morning cold weathers.

Adjacent room doors are too close to each other (at leats for our Room 5). So we got disturbed every time our neighbours opened their door. The swimming pool is also close by, so you may get disturbed if someone is playing in the pool.

Unfortunately No! I have stayed their twice, and is my go to resort when I think of Kabini, but since they don't allow pets, cannot either take my pup or have to give it a skip. Red Earth is the only pet friendly resort in that area.

There is a room with a hammock in the balcony, a bit pricey but go for it if you want an upgrade. Not the best view, even though the view there is great, but definitely the best room.
