Serene and tranquil through the day yet exciting and stimulating at night; the Bison, a boutique tented camp, the first of its kind in India, offers luxury at the very of adventure. "The Bison" is situated at the confluence of the Bandipur and Nagarhole National Parks, on the shores of the exotic Kabini River in Karnataka (west of Mysore), which offers you the perfect wildlife adventure. It is the only resort in the area which directly overlooks the national park. Elephants and other wildlife are regularly spotted from the resort. The decor and ambiance of the camp recreates the adventurous decadence of a bygone era. Wooden floors, elegant linen, beautiful artifacts, old cabin trunks and other original antiques seek to enhance the rustic setting of the camp site. Each tent is lavishly furnished with double beds, writing and dressing tables, full length mirror and arm chairs. En-suite bathrooms with expansive showers are a virtual treat.

Hi , I would like to share my experience of our stay at Bison Kabini from 18-20th Feb 2024. Both the hospitality of the staff and the food were the only highlight of our stay. The property is not maintenance that efficiently like the way it's described on the website. To name a few issue we faced - scarcity of running water in tent’s(bathroom) , improper pool maintenance and ground area outside the luxury Little bison tents not maintained properly . Since we were a group of 10+ people, so we were able to accommodate and enjoy the stay among ourselves. The view of backwater in the morning is serene but there is only 1 person to take you for a boat ride or safari, hence we could not enjoy the boat ride due to unavailability of the responsible staff. The experience of jungle safari on the other hand was also not that great. Even though we had no luck in spotting the tiger, the rude remarks from the resort's naturalist during the safari made it the worse safari experience ever. Special mentions for - Vijay from and cleaning staff and Ravi from the night duty staff who took special attention to our needs. At the time of checkout, there was no one to collect the feedback. This was very strange for us, given the name Bison has created in Kabini. Overall the rustic feel of the property is fine but not that great to be recommend further esp. for the price you pay. Thanks, Komal

What a fabulous experience at the Bison! We stayed at the little bison cottage with private dining space - lovely property and hospitality! Sunsets over kabini backwaters is gorgeous. Sayed at the front desk was very helpful and kind. He arranged for a surprise deco and birthday cake for my boyfriend. The SUPERSTAR of the Bison is Shez though - super talented photographer, amazing naturalist, his passion for the jungle, his knowledge and expertise of the wildlife is unparalleled. He helped us get THE TIGER SIGHTING OF A LIFETIME! He tracked the tigress for two hours as we patiently waited and then there she was, on the hunt in all her glory! If not for Shez, this trip would not have been so fabulous! Grateful. Wish you all the best!

I must say its one of the finest backwater resort in kabini. Amazing view from the Tent which we had stayed in. All the staffs are welcoming always greeting and smiling. Special Mention to Mr. Syed and Mr. Faiz who took good care of us. had stayed there for two days, Away from the traffic, pollution. Safari was good, food was great felt like homely food. Boating, coracle ride, bird watching, nature walk, pool, all were included in the package. It was worth staying at The Bison

Eight of us, college batch mates, spent one night and two days at The Bison on 18th and 19th of August, 2023. It is a spectacular property. The rooms were fantastic, especially the water front tents and the suite. They were extremely elegant, spacious, and very comfortable. The view of the river from the waterfront tents was outstanding. The service is superb. Syed, the property manager, and his excellent team looked after us very well. The night guards anticipated our every need and attend to them flawlessly. The food was delicious. Most of us were vegetarian and they served us high quality vegetarian food. Both for dinner and breakfast, there were a lot of dishes. They arranged our morning safari even though we were late in requesting for it. I would very highly recommend The Bison.

My husband and I have stayed at The Bison twice now and each time our stay has been more special than the other. From the time you check in (which is always welcoming and smooth) till the time you check out (which has always left my heart wanting more) the entire experience with the Bison team is top notch!! On our first visit we had an issue with the placement of our tent due to noisy guests and the management made sure we were moved to a more private tent. The food has always been delicious and feels like a home cooked meal. Each and every staff member greets you with a warm smile everyday and are very helpful. The tents are similar to the luxury tents found on safari in Africa. We found them to be very clean and comfortable with a very cosy layout. We really appreciated some of the eco-sensitive policies put in place at the resort, for example the hot water boilers are only fired up twice a day for the guests to have hot showers. The location of the resort is wonderful, as it is on the bank of the Kabini river which gave us a great view of the river. Every afternoon we saw some raptors fishing right on the edge of the river. When we stayed at The Bison in the winter, when the water had receded a bit, the grassy bank had the horses, ponies and donkeys let loose for grazing. The resort also offered boat rides around the river (different from the boat safari which goes further downstream into the wildlife sanctuary) which we took a few times, once getting very lucky with a long sighting of a family of Otters. Other times we enjoyed viewing kingfishers, fishing eagles, cormorants, egrets in their natural habitat. The naturalist at the Bison, Vinod is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area. He accompanied us on several safaris and his presence made it more enjoyable each time, he is a true asset to the Bison.

The bison resort in Kabini is a home away from home. The uniqueness is the experience of stay, which consist of beautifully crafted African styled tents right at the banks of Kabini backwaters. Surrounded by lush green trees this resort offers a beautiful wildlife experience. If you want to unwind and get back to nature this is the place to be. The food is amazing , staff very friendly and helpful who will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Vinod, who manages the property does a stellar job of catering to the needs of guests. Both Vinod and Shez are amazing naturalists as well. Going on safaris with them is such a treat. With plethora of resorts available in Kabini. However if you crave for a wildlife experience, The Bison is the resort to stay at. Can’t wait to get back again.

For 3N they gave us a "rustic Machan" claiming aerial view of backwaters where there was no such view..only surrounding trees. This tented accommodation ( incl meals) at nearly INR 22K ($ 300) a night was dinghy/poorly lit and had nets to cross every threshold within. Also no privacy. Food was just OK though staff was very polite and helpful. No creamer or standard kettle in tent and except for boating no other outdoor activity or nature attraction at site.

Terribly disappointed I came with lot of expectations paying so much. Climate is a big turn off without AC..cooler to save electricity doesn't serve the purpose. Felt very unsafe couldn't sleep in the night since i had to put my 3 children alone in the second tent . There is nobody at the reception and no contact number to get in touch if any untoward incident in the night. The so called manager is not interested in the job or he is paid less to do the job.He can be seen only during check in and check out. Boat ride /coracle ride cancelled due to a vehicle problem and he gives a night ride to see the bloody stars in the sky as if he is doing a big favour. Sofas have ants and cat fur and cleanliness is a problem. Safari 2300 here was booked for RS.460 directly from Kakanakote. Bush dinner setting was good but the food was served cold..utter waste of RS.500 per head. Horses camels are a big turn off in the forest setting. Terribly disappointed with overall experience. I don't recommend this place..

First - the bad news. The river shown on their website is seasonal and therefore near the property only for a few months of the year Apart from this, it’s an amazing place to be with nature The food is excellent- almost like home cooked. The choice and range of items is great Bird watchers- please be sure to take the guide from the property for the walk We saw herds of elephants during this walk
