After a wedding in Bangalore, I was looking forward to some quiet time and spent five days at this beautiful hotel in mid December. The entire staff (especially the Manager Ankush, as well as the Senior Naturalist Mr. Kuttapan) was very kind and helpful. I felt very well taken care of throughout my entire stay.

I stayed at a Mountain View Courtyard Superior room which has an additional room and the added benefit of only having one neighbouring room The room was very spacious, bright, beautifully furnished and had a lovely terrace looking out into the gardens. There is a good selection of food at the restaurant which is tasty.

I can highly recommend the daily nature walks offered by Mr. Kuttapan who is an expert ornithologist who helped me spot many birds and can also identify wildlife tracks and sounds. He has created grasslands within the hotel grounds where wildlife can be spotted right outside the fence if you're lucky.

The property is located within the national park, so it will take about 20 minutes to reach the safari camp from where all safaris start. You can either book the safaris with the hotel (9 or 18 seater depending on the number of people joining, transfer included) or with the national park itself (jeep or 18 seater, transfer needs to be booked & paid separately).

What I loved about this property was the calm and quiet. As I was there during the week (and not during the holiday season), there were not many guests, so most of the time, the only sound to be heard near the pool or on my terrace was birdsong which was just what I was looking for. I imagine that during weekends or holiday periods, when the property gets more busy, it will not be as quiet anymore and get more crowded, especially e.g. around the pool where there are only 4-5 sunbeds.
It would be great if the overall wifi strength could be improved and also wifi added to the restaurant/pool area. For the room, a fixed hair dryer (rather than just on demand), as well as a larger safe would be wonderful.

I can definitely recommend this hotel and will return, but only during the week, outside of the holidays to enjoy the same calm and quiet I was able to enjoy this time.

We had a 2 night stay and it was an outstanding experience from the welcome to the checkout. The huge property is wonderfully maintained and the location is very unique as it blends into the forest area. We saw lots of deer, peacocks and various species of birds around the property . The room decor is themed perfectly to the forest theme with lots of natural elements in the design. The staff is extremely courteous and took really good care of all the minute asks from us. Special call out to Mr Vivek the naturalist who does the guided nature walks and the excellent knowledge he shared with us. The Sanctuary restaurant had ample choices and high quality food.

Overall a must see for any nature lovers bucket list.

It’s a must visit - has an awesome time at a Serai Bandipur post the lockdowns and work from home. Got to spend quality time with family , enjoy nature - Serai assures you serene view of Niligiri. The icing on the cake is the food and hospitality. The resort manager Mr. Thammiah and his team are just fabulous- ensure all safety standards including insisting guests to use sanitisers. The rooms and luggage is sanitised at time of check in. The staff ensures having masks and gloves. A true responsible luxury experience.

On the last leg of our long awaited trip, we decided to stay at Serai Bandipur. Buoyed by the service at Serai Kabini, our last trip before Covid-19 struck, we really looked forward to it. We got approx. 10 calls from the manager to confirm our 'exact' time of arrival and our current location. Negotiating the hill ways with a 3 year old's motion sickness was hard enough. Even though I told them our position, they kept on calling.
The icing on the cake was that when we reached the resort, there was no one from the front desk or management to welcome us! We had to wait at the reception while the lone hotel staff present called numbers to check details of our stay. After repeatedly asking them to let us in to at-least one room because my daughter was covered in vomit, the staff finally took us to our rooms. All would have been okay if the manager had come and spoken to us. That was wishful thinking.
The saving grace was the housekeeping and the restaurant staff who were nice and made us feel comfortable. Food was really good. House cleaning was impeccable.
On the last day of our trip, we had a morning safari, because of which we were to be back by 11 AM (their checkout time), about which we had informed the front desk. While at the safari office, we get a message that we need to leave the rooms sharp at 11. We sent a message that we would leave one of the rooms at 11 and the next by 12 since we would need some time to have breakfast and freshen up before we head back. On reaching the resort, we were reminded of this again by the front desk and we nodded. We promptly moved our things to one room and informed them that the room is empty. I did not understand the urgency to make us leave the room as they did not even clean the room we vacated. We left the resort after paying our bills at 12:20 PM. I was hoping to end the trip on a high, but that was not meant to be. I guess Serai will be off my list going forward.

We went as 3 couples from family the stay was fine we stayed in rooms 10,11,22 in room 11 the shower doesn’t work well the toilet leeks and no room service cause the management doesn’t allow. Staffs try but they are less in number to provide all services might be allow only the number of customers depending on the staff availability don’t overboard.

The food was good the chef tried making whatever we asked 👍🏻 the restaurant staff (mahesh) were polite and friendly, we took complete food package but was charged 250 for evening coffee don’t know why 😕. The bar super expensive too.

1.The bathrooms have to be repaired very much.
2.The staffs have to be increased.
3.The manager can be bit more concerning towards the guests.
4.Don’t take the safari from the resort it’s super expensive we were 6 and were asked 9000 in the resort but in the camp it was 3000 totally for the same jeep safari.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights and what a superb experience. We were bit skeptical as we were traveling with a 2.5 year old. But the people out there made it so convenient for us. The best part of the stay was food and super courteous staff at the restaurant. Big shout out to chef Vicky, we so wanted to have appams and veg stew, it wasn't in menu, he went out of the way to serve us, every meal was customized for us. Thanks a lot. Baby meal was prepared fresh and much variety.

The property was well kept and maintained, service and hospitality was impeccable. The rooms were pretty and neat with all amenities. Bathroom was open with natural light and yet private, bathing was an experience too. Each room is a villa with a private sit out in a Jungle setting. Chirping of birds and fresh air with aroma of trees all around has made it so serene.

What a serene location. The last 2 to 3 kms , leading to the property itself is full of valley views and is a sign of things to come. The moment you enter the resort, it calms you like a warm loving hug from nature. So serene and quiet with just the sounds of birds and nothing else.

The property is undoubtedly luxurious. Beautiful spacious rooms with lovely balcony overlooking gardens/ mountain

Service was impeccable and you could feel the staff genuinely cares to ensure guests are well taken care of.

The property is vast and my son had a great time exploring the nature walks and cycling

Due to COVID the restaurant was only serving a la carte and food though expensive had huge portions so justified
Their restaurant too had Beautiful mountain views.

The SPA experience was good and they have well trained therapist.

Undoubtedly the best in Bandipur. Would love to return and recommend this place

The hotel is located in a beautiful site and we had many quiet nights of sleep. The room was large with a very cool shower with a skylight.

However, we were checked in to a room that smelled of paint and then were moved, which is not the standard you would expect at a five star hotel. Please note that the location is a 45 minute drive from safari along bumpy roads, so you spend a lot of time driving around.

The food was good, with limited Western options, and the restaurant had a strange ambience, with limited lighting and no music. With a few changes, this could easily be fixed.

We went on a weekend to The Serai at Bandipur and had a wonderful time. The location is fantastic. The rooms are fantastic and are plush, clean. All the rooms have a balcony with a view of the Niligiris, where one could relax. The evenings at The Serai needs a special mention.

We saw Elephants, wild hen, many many deer when we went for jungle safari in the morning. My friend being a wildlife enthusiast and photographer fell in love with the place. A good spread and cater to your requests. We also had a bonfire in the night. The food was good though not great. WiFi has become essential for connectivity, which was free at the reception area.

Overall a relaxing place to take a weekend breaks. It's a wonderful place.

I went to the Serai Bandipur with my parents over a three day weekday trip. We had a spectacular stay there, experiencing great hospitality and fantastic food. Executive Chef Vicky Bharadwaj is very talented and took great care of us. It was my birthday over the weekend, and the Chef surprised us with a delectable fresh fruit birthday cake - rivalling the best bakeries around.

Imran (Naturalist), and Nixon (the Manager) were very attentive to us and gave us great advice on how to spend our time there and spot some wild life. Guruprasad (Naturalist) also took us on a bullock cart ride and give us some great perspectives on the local life. We had a great time speaking to these three and also the rest of the staff.

Our room was a superior courtyard room - which had a spacious room with a king sized bed, and also a separate study that had space for an extra single cot. Both the rooms and the bathrooms had excellent natural lighting, and the bathroom also had a sunroof over the shower. The room was very clean and well maintained.

During our stay, we engaged in a lot of activities ranging from morning guided nature walks, jungle safaris, indoor activities like carrom, and walks around the Serai property.

100% would visit the Serai again, and recommend to everyone.
