One of the best weekend gateways from Bangalore. Located in the midst of bandipur jungle. Some attraction of this homestaya Silent, clean, into the nature, homely food, view to which you can just sit and watch continuosly for hours. This was my 2nd visit. Would keep visiting more in future when time permits. Rooms/cottages are huge
We travelled as a group of and absolutely loved our stay. The food was very fresh and tasty and is all organic; the vegetables are all grown on Dhole's Den's own farm. The hospitality of all the staff was also incredible and everyone went out of their way and paid a lot of attention to detail. We had the pleasure of also meeting Karthik (along with their dogs :)), the owner of the property, during our stay who was warm and very hospitable. The garden mansion is spacious, very well lit, with glass doors across a whole wall, opening up to views of the greenery in the property, and the Nilgiris in the distance. The bathroom was spacious and has an open to sky shower which is great. There is a lot of lovely art displayed within the garden mansion as well as in the common spaces, a lot of them painted by the proprietors themselves. There are only 5 rooms/cottages on this 5 acre property, so there is ample privacy and time and space for solitude. We also enjoyed a spot of archery, an evening bonfire, a tour of the off-site Dhole's Den farm where the vegetables are grown, followed by tea at a sunset point, a nice dip in the outdoor dipping pool, all of which were included in the package. The only booking at extra cost that had to be made was that of the safari, which was also booked and coordinated by Dholes Den (and we were dropped to and picked up from the safari point). All-in-all, would highly recommend staying at Dhole's Den and we hope to be back there soon! Suggestion: The one suggestion we would have is that a sliding mesh door can also be added as a second layer option, to allow the fresh cool air to enter in the evening and nights when sleeping, while keeping insects and animals out (rather than having to close the glass sliding doors completely).…
Born out of Kartik’s passion , this places oozes out his love for his dogs and provide the best home stay one could ever ask for . I booked this place after reading positive reviews and talking to Kartik in person . I wanted a place with homely food as I had my parents and kids to travel along . Boy ! I made the best decision of my life . The staff is amazing and never cut corners on anything . Lakhiram to start with responded all queries right from the day of reservation and made sure all the requests were accommodated . I blocked 2 rooms - habitat category . Garden view is even better . We got adjacent rooms with interconnected balconies . The balcony faces a pond , garden , and Nilgiris . It’s earthy feeling inside the rooms and in summers you get table fan and a cooler as well . The room is big and spacious and can accommodate a small family easily . Kartik is a wonderful personality and he makes sure to interact with his guests and looks like a straight forward guy to me . In short he knows his job and is killing it with his den . He owns rare breed of indigenous dogs which are delight to watch . Now about the staff - polished , neat and clean and flexible to accommodate the requests . I thank Lakhiram , Girish , Kishan and Manas for their outstanding service . Food is mind blowing and most of the preparations are from home from farm to table veggies . It’s homely food and not very acidic and greasy . The itinerary planned includes - sunset point visit , fishing , archery , farm visit , nature walk and drop and pick to safari . Overall a gem in the Bandipur area and I would strongly suggest it .…
Great place. MInimalistic, but tastefully done. the rooms are spacious and so are the bathroom/deck. Very airy. The staff were just so so wonderful and courteous attending to every small needs of the kids. Karthik is a great host, sharing stories of the place and some of the history behind it. The dogs are another treat on the property! Kids got to do fishing(caught one actually!). Karthik's Ekant corner is another beautiful place to sit and take in the blue mountains. Will definitely go back. if you're looking for a nice quaint place without the hustle/bustle of a big resort, this place is for YOU!
We spent one night at this beautiful property. The road to the property is challenging but I believe when you are in the middle of the jungle these are part of the package. We stayed there as a family with me, my wife and my brother’s family in two rooms. We had the mountain paradise and my brother had the garden mansion. Both the rooms are made well and super spacious. The food and service at the resort is excellent. Since you are in the middle of the jungle, you need to be ready for insects flying around, so don’t complain later. The owner Karthik is great host and always up for a chat. We spent just one night so didn’t explore any other facilities at the resort. For us it was a short but a pleasant stay.
We had a perfect holiday. Everything from making the booking to the checkout was smooth and effortless thanks to Karthik and the excellent staff. The service and hospitality will blow you away and they will ensure everything is perfect every minute of before, after and during your stay. The highlight was of course the food. The food itself will make you visit the place again and again. They arranged for the safari and a trip to Mudumalai elephant camp. This is the only place you should look for to stay in Bandipur. A place worth coming back again and again.
Right from the first conversation I had had with Karthik (the host), we felt super welcome. My husband had a leg injury after we booked the place, so I was a bit skeptical but Karthik reassured me that they'd help out as much as possible, which they did. They have a wheelchair and a crutch available, apart from the little things the staff did to make us comfortable at all times. For anyone looking for convenience, they offer all that is possible considering the natural terrain and climatic conditions. But beyond this, the property is meant to give a full experience of the natural environment. It was quite hot and dry when we went (as we were fully aware), with a few showers in the evenings, but the indoors are thermally so well designed and comfortable even without an AC that we were able to have a really good time even just relaxing in our room (the garden mansion). Overall it is very calm and quiet at all times, paving the way for all the madness out in the wild to be heard! The night sky is also a sight to die for. If one is going primarily for wildlife sighting, this was probably not the best season. However, there is so much to do at Dhole's Den that there's no need to head out. The common areas offer games and evening wildlife movie screenings, and a collection of books to pick up and read. There's a bonfire in the evenings for everyone to get together. The view from all the rooms are so beautiful that one can spend hours lounging by the view towards the Nilgiris. Apart from that there's also bird watching and a farm visit that they host. Our endless chats with the host were also great since there are so many stories that one just has to ask! The food was of top quality and native to the region (most of which is grown on their farm), and Karthik was kind enough to take in a few requests of ours too (red rice, millets etc). Definitely something to look forward too! The Dhole's Den experience is not meant just as a lazy vacation, but one that offers immersion and knowledge. Guests need to come in with an openness to learn and interact. The staff is well equipped and very kind. I don't think there's anything we did not like - except the duration of our stay, which was way too short. :(( Definitely going back to Dhole's Den!…
From the terribly bumpy approach to the resort to water dripping from the roof of our bathroom and bedroom after a spell of heavy rains to a few rude staff, this is an experience we would like to forget. Not something you would expect for the price you pay and effort you put in in reaching this place. I had high expectations from Dhole's Den, the reviews i read spoke otherwise but what we experienced wasn't pleasant. The property is beautiful and so are the views and the food, but if hospitality is this bad would the place and views matter?
It was a pleasant stay and the family enjoyed the stay. It was free from clutter and peaceful. We loved the food, they were healthy, not heavy, right quantity and that of home quality. The staff were courteous and helpful. It was more like a guest home than a 'resort'.
We had a family holiday at Dhole's Den. The overall experience was quite mesmerizing. We chose 'Mountain Paradise' and it was worth the choice. Following are the key things that made our stay memorable: 1. Quiet and privacy during the stay 2. The Dholes 3. Courteous staff 4. Attentive owner (Mr. Karthik) 5. Homely food Basis my request a candle-light dinner was arranged by the owner. It was quite memorable and the personalized handcrafted gift made by the owner's wife (Ms. Ingrid) was awesome. Thank you Team Dhole's Den. Regards, Ashish Surve
