Overall it was a poor experience at this hotel and I would not recommend anyone waste their time or money. I thought some of the other reviews were a bit dramatic but after our stay I can see their point of view. We decided to book at this hotel because we had spent a week driving around Vildmarksvägen and thought it would be a nice stay to end with a few drinks and a good meal. I have to mention some positives, the rooms were clean beds were comfortable, bathrooms are a bit dated but functional (apart from the fact that the light switch is located in the shower) and the view over the lake was nice. When we eventually got the keys to the room we realised that there was no bar fridge as advertised and no basic toiletries apart from hand soap. I also noticed some of the room temperature mini bar items were a few months past their due date and the roll of chocolate looked like someone had opened the roll, taken one piece and then shut the packet again. We arrived early (2 hours before check-in) so didn't expect to be able to get our room earlier but thought we would ask. No one was in the reception so we rung the bell twice, waited for 15 minutes, and no one showed. We decided to go grab a drink at the bar, had to ring the bell for that as well. After being served we had our drinks and after about 30mins went back down to the reception. No one there again, so we rung the bell again, no answer. After a few more minutes another couple came in and then somone came after they rung the bell and it was the same guy who served us in the bar on the floor above. No wonder he couldn't hear the reception bell. After being told we couldn't check in because the room wasn't ready we decided to wait in the lounge for just over an hour before we could check in. Other people joined waiting to check in. A couple then arrived at 14:50 asked to check in and were told the rooms still weren't ready... Then conveniently all of the rooms suddenly were ready at 15:00. A few days before our arrival we contacted the hotel to see if we needed to book a table at the restaurant. The hotel confirmed we could book a table and also pre-book our meals if we liked, so we went ahead and did that. We arrived a couple of minutes before our booking. We waited about 5 minutes before the couples in front of us were greeted. One couple had booked and were shown to their table. The other couple hadn't booked and got told to go sit down anywhere. After waiting another 10mins we were then greeted by one of the staff, who informed us that the restaurant was full and there was a miscommunication. They could not help us or the 2 couples behind us who had also booked, so we all went to the pizza place down the road instead with better customer service and not overpriced.…
A worn old hotel in a depressing city. The hotel felt like a youth recreation center because it was young people who did not live at the hotel there, playing pool. The corridor smelled of chlorine. Worn room and bathroom. Mediocre breakfast. Would not recommend staying at this hotel or any othe hotel in the village for that matter.
We (2 adults and 2 kids, 3 and 2) decided to do the Vildmarksvägen anti-clockwise and stopped at this hotel for one night before starting the journey. On walking in I immediately regretted not booking the nearby B&B that seemed to get better reviews. The hotel building is very old inside and out. Walking in reminded me of some of the terrible hotels I stayed in in Scotland as a boy growing up in the 1980s. And the numbering signs for the rooms are from that era! You walk in to a smell that immediately highlights a big damp problem and then things just dont get any better. The staff are polite and nice - cannot fault them at all for effort. But the whole place needs an upgrade of epic proportions. Dinner was a disorganised mess as well. Breakfast was ok. The only redeeming feature is the amazing view. This could be such an amazing hotel if it was re-done. Avoid if you can.…
It's not a pretty building but it does the job. Room was a little dated but nothing wrong with it. Has a car park with engine heaters if your car has a socket to plug it in. Basic dinner was included in the room rate. Seems to be popular with travelling workers.
You should go to Lapland to experience something like this!. Ok, back to preparations. A very small airport it is with limited operations. Sounds like a fitting idea to pre-order a taxi cab to pick me up. It was, no other taxi to notice at the airport during my arrival. No traffic, just a couple of minutes for the hotel. The view straight above the lake and for the mountains, really nice. The room not that large, but ok for me, also the bathroom. Not a real night at all, like it. Anyway a good sleep here. Breakfast with several bread rolls and bread, also good. Heavy rain the next day, ok, it´s northern Sweden. And by cab back for the airport. Definitely a recommendable place to go in this area of Lapland.
The views across the lake from the hotel were absolutely beautiful - from the room, hotel bar, hot tub AND sauna. A short walk from the train station it was handily located and close to all the main attractions of Vilhelmina. Staff were friendly and helpful.
We really enjoyed staying here. It’s an older building but comfortable. Our room had two single beds and a desk and a private bathroom. All very clean and the beds were super comfy. The hotel is in a great location to town. It was a hot day when we arrived so we didn’t use the spa or sauna but they looked great as was the view from the spa. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety to choose from including eggs and bacon, yogurts, cereals, breads, cheeses and salamis. The coffee was perfect for me! We’d definitely stay again.
Very nice view towards west in the evening and with sun set, from both room and the restaurant. The breakfast buffet and the evening meal (included in the prize) were good. One must watch up for a step in the restaurant area. It was nice with some local paintings on the walls in the hotel.
This hotel was booked for me as part of an Inlandsbanan trip from north to south. The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk from the railway station. As a solo traveller, I was given a small time room with a comfortable bed, good wifi, views of the lake, a small writing desk, in fact all that I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast had lots of choice. This hotel was different, quirky, with rooms below reception, dining room above, many small quiet sitting area and interesting decor. I had an enjoyable stay at this hotel.
A ggod meal in the afternoon included an easy meal but good. Bedrooms was fantastic and clean , they had snacks for sale , not to exspensive , i personal advice to stop here for a good night sleep!! I am alergic but have nothing to complain about i loved this hotel :)
