We have been to Kefalonia twice before but not to this area. Checking into the hotel was quick and easy and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had upgraded our room when we booked and we were not disappointed , the views from the balcony were amazing. There are plenty of sun beds and the pool area is lovely. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well kept. We saw a few complaints about the food being cold and we agreed in part but to be honest, it didn’t bother us too much. However, there was plenty of choice and food was always tasty! The beach is a few minutes walk away and has lots of sun beds and parasols - €8 a day. There is also a great beach bar. The hotel bar and cafe areas have the most wonderful staff, very friendly and chatty - a real credit to the hotel! We loved the hotel, the peaceful atmosphere and the chilled holiday we enjoyed there; I would totally recommend this hotel- we will certainly visit again!

Just returned after a weeks stay …..Excellent hotel , couldn’t fault it. Food is lovely with a great variety of dishes served buffet style or there is an option for ala carte menu . Tables for both buffet and Ala carte have to be pre booked at reception desk. Breakfast is also a buffet with both english and continental style available. We had a deluxe apartment which was modern and spacious and spotlessly clean . The bathroom linen is changed daily. There was a safe deposit box a fridge and a television in the room .And a kettle was supplied with cups and hairdryer was in the bathroom for the ladies use. Note ..There were no shower caps or gratis toiletries supplied. Beverages were reasonably priced , there is a mini market on site and a general dealer across the road from the hotel . The beach is only 10 minutes away , but there is a nice pool attached to the hotel . There is also a sauna and gym and a spa which you pay for .Check at reception . There is a bus to Argostoli from the x roads near the beach which is only 2 euros compared to 20 in a taxi . The Astra apartments are not far from the airport so no time is lost in commuting to and from there. The weather during our weeks early October stay was lovely and dry with some overnight showers . Temperatures were 26 to 29 degrees during the day . The evening temps were still comfortable, didn’t use the air con in our room . The staff were very nice and friendly and all spoke excellent english . The atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed and pleasant . Highly recommend this hotel

Hotel was clean modern and comfortable. It is in a nice location, just a short walk from the beach and bus stop. The airport wasn't a problem for us, we found it quite interesting watching the planes come in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and as a vegetarian I found there was enough choice. Our big issue though was the temperature of the food, food that was meant to be hot was barely warm and once you had put it on a cold plate it was cold. We spoke to several other holiday makers whilst we were there and they all said the same thing. There has obviously been a lot of money invested in this place recently but they need to sort this problem out, otherwise it will put people off returning. Having said all that, the price we that we paid for half board was very reasonable and overall we had a lovely holiday but because of this issue would only ever consider returning on a B&B basis.

We stayed at Astra at the end of September/October for 10 days, and really couldn't fault the hotel or its surroundings. Its exactly as advertised and some of the reviews seem to be written by people who are expecting a 5*hotel when they really aren't paying for one! Everyone was friendly, very clean, modern communal areas and good food. Weather was great for October, around 25° everday, a little windy some days. We had a studio room, and while basic it was cleaned daily, fresh towels and even the washing up was done when we hadn't gotten round to it yet. The shower was powerful, the kitchen is small but was fine for making lunches and had a good sized fridge. Bed was comfy and we were given extra pillows on request. After all you only really use the room to sleep and shower, and these things were great. Safe was free of charge and came in handy. Also given pool towels which we could swap for clean ones once free of charge, and would be €2 each after that. My bf used the gym multiple times, and although small and air con didn't work very well, it did the job and was also free of charge. The breakfast was always good and lots of choice every day. Fresh bread, fruit, pastries, jams, cereal, an array of cooked food(eggs, bacon, beans, frittata, sausages etc) and some meats and greek yogurt. Lots of extras such as dried fruit, coconut, flax seeds etc. Especially liked the little biscuits and biscotti. We didn't have dinner here everyday as we wanted to try the local restaurants but when we did it was always pretty good, not amazing but have had much worse at higher star hotels. Always different though which was nice. Mainly had a good selection of salad, a good choice of mains with different meats, vegetarian and sometimes vegan dishes. Usually a pasta dish as well. The only thing that wasn't nice was the white fish dishes, very slimy!Desserts were most looked forward to as they were always delicious. Was glad that there was a good selection of Greek food, no chips in sight thankfully! In terms of location, Svoronata is a little rural but it was what we were expecting. We didn't hire a car but managed to get round and explore the island just fine. The bus runs regularly everyday in a loop to some local bus stops and then onto Lassi and Argostoli. Return journey takes you back the same way but via the airport. €2 each for a single ticket wherever you are going. Well worth going to Argolosti for the shops, and weekdays between 10-12 the local fishermen sell their fish and turtles come to the harbour which is not to be missed. While there you can get a boat over to Lixouri for €3 per person each way, not much over there unless you drive to the beaches but shops are nice and boat is a fun experience. In Svoronata itself Ammos beach is a 5 min walk from the hotel and beautiful. Nice and sandy, €8 for 2 beds and an umbrella, or €10 for nice ones with a foam topping. Little beach bar but very overpriced, showers and toilets there too. Supermarket opposite the hotel and little shop attached to hotel also expensive, as are drinks as the hotel. We bought food for lunches and snacks while in Argostoli which was cheaper. Array of restaurants along the beach road, highly recommend O Milos (10 min walk from hotel), had the freshest fish and were very friendly. Tropicana was great for lunch. Further afield we walked to Esperides (20/25 min walk)very picturesque and had great orange desserts. On the way back you pass a supermarket which is cheaper than the ones closer the hotel and better stocked, plus a nice bar called Crazy George's. Had some fun cocktails at La Calma as well (15 min walk). We had no issues walking to these places, yes some parts don't have street lights but phone torch was fine, mostly flat and good to get out and see the sights rather than staying at the hotel 24/7. Pool area at the hotel is gorgeous, beds are very comfy, pool is huge but cold, but once you're in its fine!Nice selection of games such as jenga, chess, pool and table football in the reception area. Shame you have to pay €1 each time to play pool though. The pool also has showers which we would have used if we had an evening flight rather than paying to have the room longer, however we left early afternoon so wasn't an issue. Booked a day trip around kefalonia to see the Droganati caves, Melissani Lake, a winery, Fiskardo village, and take pictures of Myrtos Beach. Booked online in € direct through Kefanlonian Excursions and was much cheaper than through Trip Advisor, for exactly the same tour. Highly recommend this as we got to see virtually the whole island. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel. As a young couple the crowd here is definitely older and it's not somewhere to choose if you want to go out for a lively night every night, but for us it was a perfect and relaxing getaway which didn't break the bank!

We arrived at this boutique hotel just after lunchtime, I emailed before arriving to request an early check-in, extra pillows and a first floor room. On arrival the Receptionists requested a hotel voucher which unfortunately I hadn’t printed off as I didn’t realise they needed this, I had printed a copy of our hotel details but this wasn’t good enough they needed the voucher. I managed with the Receptionist’s help to send this over to them. We also had to pay tax to stay at the hotel. Fortunately, the safe was free which was good. We were given keys to our room which was on the ground floor. I had already been warned that the hotel had ants in the rooms and around the hotel and when I noticed some in the room I went back to Reception to request another room, preferably on the first floor as previously requested. The Receptionist didn’t want to give me another room, she was adamant we had been given the room I had requested but I had booked and paid extra for a Premium Double room and the room we had been given didn’t look like the one in the pictures on the Jet2 website, the Receptionist said you can’t go by pictures but I told her that is what sells a holiday to you. After standing my ground she agreed to show me another room, this was on the first floor with a better view but still the room looked more like a Promotional double room not a Premium double. There shouldn’t have been cooking facilities in our room, they weren’t in the Premium double description which made me think that the room wasn’t as booked but we decided to change to this room as the view was far better and I couldn’t see any ants in the room. The room was clean but lacked hanging space, there were not enough hangers for 2 people and the hairdryer didn’t have a nozzle and kept overheating and stopped working. They did change the towels everyday and the room was cleaned. The bathroom could do with a shelf inside the shower to put your shower gel/shampoo on rather than on the floor. There was a washing line with a few pegs on the balcony. We were pleased we took some coffee bags as although a kettle is in the room there are no supplies. The breakfast and dinner were OK. There was bacon but not every day, the vegetables (carrots, broccoli & green beans) peas and sweetcorn (mixed) were always the same and cold! The soups were nice and always hot, the food was fairly varied each night (never had chips on the buffet) and would have tasted nicer if it was hotter, it was quite cold every night. The deserts were very nice and different each night. We wanted a carafe of red wine but they wouldn’t open a bottle of red so we had a choice of white of rose. We never saw any flies around the good as previously mentioned in some reviews. We found something to eat every night and didn’t feel the need to eat out. There are tavernas about a five minute walk away but the road is unlit and too dark at night so we stayed at the hotel. The beach is about 5 minutes walk and the beds are reasonable, one side 8 euros and the other side 10 euros for 2 beds & umbrella, we didn’t mind paying 10 euros as the beds were more comfortable. There is a bus stop next to the beach and a timetable shows what times the bus runs to the Airport, Lassi & Argostoli for 2 euros per person each way. Lassi is busier than Svoronata where we stayed and Argostoli is lovely, plenty of shops, bars & restaurants, we visited twice as it was so nice. I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes as there is a lot to see when walking around. Also try the Gyros, they are like Pitta bread filled with meat, salad, a few chips and tsaksiki. We never had to wait long for a drink at the hotel and they were branded spirits, Sylwia was lovely and very friendly. Lunch was good and a varied menu with good portions. Anna was very professional and always looked smart, she showed you to your table each evening. Sophia was the evening Receptionist, she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and went out of her way to give you advice and help with anything you needed. I much preferred dealing with her than the daytime Receptionists as she had more time for you and was good at what she was employed to do. Lastly, the shop attached to the hotel was very small and had minimum supplies and closed while we were there which was surprising seeing as the hotel doesn’t close until mid Oct. There is another shop across the road which has a few more supplies and I would recommend buying 6 bottles of water which is so cheap as you don’t get water in your room. You do get a towel to use around the pool but if you want to change it you have to pay 2 euros unless you are staying for 2 weeks then you are entitled to one change. We would stay here again but would prefer earlier in the summer as it would be lighter in the evening to stroll to the tavernas and the hotel wouldn’t be so quiet. It is a nice hotel with a lot of character and most of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Back from a wonderful week at Astra village. Really quick transfer, 6 mins! . Lovely reception and staff, lovely room with great shower! Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. Free pool towels given, 2Euros if wanted replaced. Glorious pool and sunbeds with pool bar which did excellent food, drinks and snacks. Service excellent. Buffet breakfast had something for everyone and was very good. Short walk to gorgeous beach with sun beds and parasol 8euros.Beach bar and portoloo toilets and quite exciting seeing planes taking off and landing flying so close over. We had such a relaxing and happy week with bonus of good weather, which wasn't forecast!! Svonrata is a small village with some lovely restaurants of which we tried each evening. Great bus service which took us into Argostoli for 2Euros. The complex is really pretty with well kept gardens and gorgeous plants and orange trees. Just had a really lovely week and most definitely will return.

This is the third time we have stayed at Astra village and we always find that the accommodation is clean and comfortable and air conditioning is a bonus. However, this was our first time staying half board and after reading the reviews we were a bit apprehensive. We came to the conclusion that some people are too fussy. We found that the food was extremely tasty, lots of choice and plentiful and, over our fortnight stay, the menu was never repeated. Public areas are tastefully decorated and the pool area is clean and well maintained and the sunbeds are the most comfortable I've ever experienced. All staff are welcoming, very friendly and their English is superb. WiFi used to be in the public areas only but has been extended to the whole hotel and we didn't have a problem picking it up in our room. The airport is near but never a problem and the noise is not distracting. Let's face it if you only have a 5 minute commute from the airport then you should expect some airport noise.

Went in mid August for a week and most rooms are junior suites. My room overlooked the pool with a view of the sea. All the rooms face into the pool in an arc shape and the balconies are shaded most of the day. There is a table and chairs. The room had a separate lounge with a sofa bed and a decent TV with all the UK channels which was surprisingly handy. The separate kitchen had a full fridge, micro and hob, but being all inclusive I only used it for coffee in the morning. The restaurant was reasonably large and we never waited very long to get a seat and access to the buffet didn't annoy. I suppose that leaves the quality of the food and there was decent choice across the day. Breakfast was the usual mass of eager eaters and toast machine dwellers that slowed things down a bit, and making multiple trips back and forth to the buffet was always fun. To be fair everyone was pleasant enough and friendly given it was multiple countries catered for. The main hotel reception and bars could do with a refresh, but all in all it was a commendable 3*** hotel and the price for all inclusive was comparable with other hotels in the area on a room only basis. You have to ask yourself? Could I manage eating at Lidl for a week, which is freshly served? Given the ⛱️ beach is right outside the front door? I did and had a great time. Didn't use the pool due to the kids, but I didn't blame the families who got up at 7 to reserve some beds next to the pool. Beach bed was 10$ and was council managed.

We stayed in August for 11 nights travelling as a family of four. In the period before we travelled we were starting to feel nervous after reading some of the TripAdvisor reviews with regards to the food. However, there had been no need to worry at all. The food each evening was fresh, authentic and presented beautifully. We are a mixed party of meat eaters and Vegetarians and each evening there was a great variety to meet everyone's requirements. The hotel itself was immaculate in every area and the standard of cleaning superb. We had two delightful rooms and although we never used the kitchen area as such to prep food the full sized fridge was a real bonus. The rooms were well presented with lovely modern, spacious bathrooms and were cleaned daily. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The pool area is beautiful, kept clean and has great loungers. With regards to the proximity to the airport, yes it is close but people know that when booking and if that's something that would bother you then chose somewhere other than Svoronata. There appeared to be a handful of flights daily but it did not detract from our enjoyment of the holiday. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach and a few Tavernas. We would advise hiring a car so that you can get out and about to explore the whole island but equally this hotel would suit those who just wish to relax by the pool for a few days. If we were ever to return to Kefalonia we would stay at Astra Village again!
