We've stay 5 days on uncle chang's place. It was really nice. Peoples are really kind ! There is not too much things to do here, but if you want to relax, dive, snorkelling and have good time, you have to be here ! If you want to dive i'll recommend you to ask for JUSTINE, a french diving teacher.... More

We made a booking at uncle chan because the lonely planet said is was a nice and cheap place. Well both of them weren't true. It's quitte expensive (75 rm) for te dirty room you get. I dont think they ever clean sheets or pillowcases cause i found earplugs in my pillowcase that weren't mine. No electricity at daytime, no... More

Having been twice in Uncle Chang's I can not recommend it highly enough. It just oozes friendliness and fun. It is full of charm and the dive guides i had were truly fantastic. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and Uncle chang himself he is so, so warm and welcoming. We will be back

Mabul Island is very nice. Natives are very friendly. The Lodge was not so nice. Rooms and toilet was terrible. Rats ate our soap. Food not bad but permanently the same. Fans was dirty an horrible noisy. When we paid in advance we ask about full gear (fins and dive masks). They write us the price inculde full gear. When... More

Room: Initially my friend and I booked a double fan room, however we upgrade it to standard on arrival because of the toilet location. For double fan room, toilet is attached but it is outside, on the balcony. Our standard room got AC, but not really working. We can hardly feel the cold air even at night. They didn't maintain... Stayed at Uncle Chang's so I could do my OW Dive course. Fantastic place. All employees were very friendly. We stayed in one of the new huts right out on the water, which had beautiful views overlooking the ocean. I was extremely lucky to have Justine to take me for my OW course, I could not ask for a better... More

This place is the worst! Me and my girlfriend are both experienced backpackers. We are used to basic accomodations and are really no people who need luxury. But Uncle Chang was one of the worst experiences I made during my travels so far. Everything is expensive on Mabul, I get that, and if you don´t come for diving I would... More

I stayed there for 5 days. It was the most enjoyable week ever. Everything is awesome and the people there are extremely friendly. You get what you pay for. Just don't expect too much from their food. Will definitely come back again for my AOW.

The place has a nice relaxed atmosphere, people playing guitars and hanging in the common area. For a hostel it's on the expensive side at 75 ringgit per person but if you're diving, you should stay as you'll be knackered afterwards and it's nice to hang out there rather than catch the boat back. You get all your meals provided... More
