The Crown is fab. Comfortable, excellent food, good service, genuinely well-trained, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. The food is of a very high standard. We've mainly been for light meals or bar snacks in the last few visits, but I've had the pleasure of their skate wing as well, and it was excellent. They also make their own cheese straws, which...

We had a meeting in Colchester just a stone's throw from here and decided to stay overnight in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The Crown was suggested to us and was indeed a great choice. The room was enormous, clean, well fitted and lacked nothing one would have found in a major 5 star hotel. The staff were charming and helpful...

Had a 3 day mid week break with dinner and were very impressed. The room was large, with great bathroom and very.comfortable bed. Staff are all very friendly and cleaning done to a high standard. Dinner was excellent, not rushed and an enjoyable end to the day. We enjoyed the varied breakfast menu but felt it was a little inconsistant....

At the prices being charged the venue can not afford to stop striving to achieve & exceed expectations. However there is an air of our work here is done. I have enjoyed it more I the past. Won't be rushing back.

Food and atmosphere at the Crown is excellent although the cost of the starters is quite steep for what you get. We had belly pork. Which was 3 very thinly cut slices of belly pork with dressing, as this is one of the cheapest cuts of pork the amount could have been slightly more. Overall the experience was fabulous and...

I have always enjoyed coming here as the standard of food is fantastic and I like the atmosphere, but I was disappointed on this occasion as the the prices seem to have gone up. Although the food tastes fantastic, it puts a bad taste in my mouth to pay over the odds. £9.50 for the scallops starter which was 2...

My husband and I have stayed at The Crown previously and loved it so much we had to revisit again. We had a lovely standard room which had it's own outdoor space with a table and chairs. The drinks are very reasonably priced and we paid for dinner, bed & breakfast which was beautiful. Would very much recommend visiting if...

Visited this pub on a really sunny afternoon. I had the homemade sweet potato onion bhaji's as a starter and they were delicious! Fish and chips for main course, the haddock was such a generous portion. It was all lovely. Staff were very attentive despite how busy the place was. See you again soon!

First visit this year, good choice of food and drinks on the menu. Great setting for a drink on the large patio area and on a good day select your lunch and look out over the distant view. If you get the chance to take part in one of their overnight weekend stays, it is well worth the money, 2...
