Great place to stay. The nearby hiking is fantastic. A bit out of the way for the big sites if you are just whizzing through on a short trip and looking to hit the 'must sees' of the Bernese Oberland, but that also meant that the surrounding hikes (which were varied and breathtaking) were relatively quiet. I left at 8am...

Looking for the real thing in the Alps - look no further. I have been here several times and can assure you that the time has stood still in this spectacular corner of the world. If you are prepared to live like royalty in the thirties, and are looking for the undiscovered, this is the place. Everything is right. Just...

The Hotel Rosenlaui has been in this place for a long time, surrounded by massive peaks and a river runs through it. There are two roads to the Hotel Rosenlaui. One can come up from Meiringen, about 30 min by a Postauto bus, or from Grindelwald over the Grosse Scheidegg on the Postauto (bus); both routes are a delight, winding...

We were a group of five and spent one night in a large room with 3 bunk beds. The room is quite spacious with a big table in the middle and since we only were there for the night itself it was perfect for our needs. Since we booked the cheap room we had to bring our own towels and...

We only had lunch here and didn't stay for the night but the food was great and the hotel made a very good impression. This is a historic place and lovingly run it seems, by young and enthusiastic people. The was great quality, served quickly and relatively inexpensive (for Switzerland). The drive up is an experience in itself and the...

A wonderfully relaxing environment - no phones, televisions or wifi. The hotel is decorated with antiques and curios and kept in the tradition of the hotels past. Meals are included and dinner is an experience. Served in a large dining room, we were lucky enough to be 'serenaded' by a very talented pianist (the owners son) making good use of...

Few years back now, summer 2012, but in making pilgrimage to Reichenbach we determined to get some serious walking in as well, what better to combine the two than to stay at Rosenlaui. Beautiful valley, beautiful and historic hotel, the option to have relatively (for Switzerland) economical accommodation (BYO sleeping bag) was a good one and paid off by the...

Anyone who would like to be transported back in time to another century is here at the perfectly right place. We had chosen the hotel as a base for hiking since the surrounding nature is breathtaking. However, we had to skip the plans of hiking due to bad weather conditions. Therefore we stayed at the hotel and could enjoy the...

Absolutely fantastic hotel in a beautiful environment. The rooms are all different and in a traditional way, no modern things, only antiques. Also the way up to the hotel is an adventure, beautiful scenery. You can go up with your own car or by bus. We stayed already twice and surely go again!

This hotel is a mixture of hotel and hostel. The staff is very friendly , the building old and rustic.the problem at first was no internet , but I got use to it and guess what I loved it. It was a chance to get into the fantastic nature around .the bus driver was suuper , sadly I cannot remember...

“If you need technology, this is not the place for you. Also, you can drive up but I would Postal Bus up - an experience in itself.”

“We stayed in a corner room with windows facing two directions - lovely and light. It's worth paying more for a front-facing room, but if you're traveling on a budget, you'll still get a good deal with the cheaper rooms. There is a beautiful library and lounge to hang out in - or sit outside and take in the view.”
