Many hotels get away with a great view or location. Not in this case. The Alpenrose hotel and gardens met all expectations and more. From when you walk in you are met with friendliness. The garden is beautiful. The food fantastic and the view to die for. but what impressed us most was the small things. The staff, not only trying to make your stay pleasant, but ensuring that you have all the info you need for your day trips and other plans. This warm, caring and genuine, hospitality you often struggle to find in the EU and Switzerland. We look forward to go back for the winter and some Skiing! Thank you all.
We've spent the last few nights in this lovely hotel in Wilderswil. Upon arrival we were lucky to get a parking spot in front of the hotel because apparently they are scarce (at night all parking spots were occupied and people parked literally everywhere in front of the hotel). However, the hotel offers compensation when you can't park next to the hotel. You will then have to park next to the station (at the end of the street). The receptionist was really amazing. Sofia felt like a friend, very helpful and came by during breakfast to have a chat. She, by herself, is already a reason to return. At the check-in, you will receive free train tickets for your stay to Interlaken. Breakfast was great. Corona proof, in case you're concerned. Good distance, bread and toppings were all packed separately. Regular cleaning too. The rooms were clean, but dated. The floor was very squeaky, at one point we were scared to be a burden to the people staying below us. The bed was good, we've slept well. The view was amazing too, mountain view guaranteed in every room. The rooms being dated honestly just fits with the overall asthethic, so it wasn't an issue. If we're ever visiting again we will surely consider returning to this property! …
We stayed at the Alpenrose on our last night in Switzerland. We chose this place due to the close proximity to Lauterbrunnen as we would be travelling there the following day to trek the waterfalls. Upon arrival we were disappointed there were no parking spaces. The hotel has a very limited amount which is first come first served. We were very grateful that this was promptly rectified by the hotel owner, as he moved his own car so that we had a safe and secure place. If you are unable to find a space at the hotel, the recommendation is that you will need to pay and park at the station nearby. The hotel itself is over 120 years old - the sister property Eidelweiss being 200 and both being original structures. This appealed to us as we wanted an authentic rustic, Swiss chalet style experience, surrounded by nature and it definitely did not disappoint. The room was very basic with wooden furniture and obviously no air-con but all that was forgotten once you go out to the balcony and see the view! This is the reason you stay here - completely breathtaking! The bathroom was small, however for a period style had a very good powerful shower. The hotel gardens are stunning and served as the perfect backdrop to our dinner that evening at restaurant Edelweiss. The breakfast was very good, self-service buffet style and included unlimited bubbles if desired. We will definitely return on our next Swiss holiday, next time we will try the Edelweiss next door as recommended by the staff. …
The hotel is located next to the train station (you can go to the Top of Europe directly). The frond desk woman is very nice and helpful. However, the room is very very noisy. The wooden floor is creaking and you can hear the people talking distinctly. We couldn’t sleep all night long because of the noise. The breakfast is simple, nothing spectacular.
Very cozy hotel with the beautiful rose garden and marvelous views over Jungfrau mountain. Hotel has a hot tub outside, good beer, very friendly and helpful staff (which recommend and reserve any restaurant of your choice in the vicinity). We are definitely coming back soon!
Less than 5 minutes train ride from Interlaken OST Station towards Lauterbrunnen will take you to Wilderwil Railway Station. There are other options like taking a bus, which is cheaper, or cab. Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens is less than 5 minutes walk from Wilderwil Station. Whatever might be your luggage size, it would not be difficult to take that walk to the hotel. The hotel is located in a quite lane, without any traffic as such. There are two parts of the hotel, one the hotel itself and the other being the cheaper hostel facility. You have to be sure what you are booking to avoid a surprise at the time of check in. Check in is on the ground floor (or 1st floor as is referred to in most part of the Globe other than in Asia). Rooms are there on all the floors with the ones on the ground floor have direct access to wonderfully maintained garden and Jacuzzi. Beautiful views of the mountains is available from all the rooms. Our triple room on the 1st Floor (or 2nd Floor as per the Hotel), with attached bath, was facing the road and did not have a balcony which some of the other rooms had. However, that did not deprive the view. The only downsize in selecting the higher floors is this hotel does not have any lift, which means, you have to carry your luggage to your room which can be difficult if you have number of heavy luggage as we had with us. The rooms are clean and very basic, with wooden floors. The hotel is very old but well maintained. The breakfast spread is good and the most interesting were the colorful eggs. There is enough to suit the requirement of everyone. There is also a restaurant which has decent offerings. We had dinner twice during our stay and liked it. There is also a adequately stocked Negros (if I recollect the name properly) near the station from where you can pick up sandwiches, fruits as well as drinks. I must also complement the staff who were very helpful and provided us the required guidance which helped in proper planning of our trips. You can take your trips to Jungfrau as well as other places like Murren and Schilthorn from the Wilderwil Station. The picturesque trip to Schynige Platte on the cog wheel trains also depart from this station. I would surely recommend this hotel.…
Staying here really felt like we in Switzerland! The decor was traditional, staff was super friendly, and we were able to easily walk to the train station (5 minute walk) to explore Interlaken & the mountains. We were with a group, and it seems like each room has its own charm - not like the cookie-cutter rooms of a modern hotel.
We stayed here as part of an Expat tour and were given a room right at the top front of the hotel, with a small balcony. The view from this was amazing. The alps, the beautiful village homes etc - stunning. We were very well looked after by all staff, who shared our love for a laugh and we couldn't fault the place. For us, it was the best, most peaceful hotel on our tour. We'd go back there in a heartbeat. A special mention must be made of the boiled eggs for breakfast which were of course laid by tiger chickens, going by the colour!! .If you are in the area, stay here!
The hotel well located with nice view, the service was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful, special thank to Sophia who helped me willingly a lot in organizing my trip. The breakfast was good and the garden was fascinating. I will certainly stay again there.
We stayed at the Alpenrose while touring with Expat Explorer. The Alpenrose is exactly what I expected a Swiss alpine hotel to be. The views of the Alps and Hotel gardens are spectacular. The rooms are clean and cozy and the staff can't do enough to help you. If you want a real Swiss experience, I highly re commend this Hotel.
