This 3* hotel is family. owned & our party of 41 were made welcome. Staff were helpful. Large airy rooms. (no air con). Food was basic & well cooked & plentious. We had free drinks in the evenings.Situated in the Swiss Alps.Village nearby &good railway network. Station a 10 minute walk up a steephill. A comfortable place to stay.

I stayed one night at the Hotel, with a group of colleagues. This is a very clean and well run family hotel. The food was good and the breakfast was great. The staff are really helpful and attentive. There are a lot of groups of mostly elderly people staying at the hotel. So I would not call this the perfect... More

The hotel is set on the picturesque Julier river. Unfortunately the river is a minor torrent and is extremely noisy. We were unable to sleep with the window open and were consequently extremely uncomfortable as we stayed during a heatwave. The room was nice enough with adequate hanging space. The toiletries provided were minimal and we had to ask for... More

Chosen as the start point of an Alpine rail adventure (The Bernina Express and the Glacier Express both leave from the nearby station) six of us arrived for a two night stay on a Friday afternoon. The hotel is refreshingly modern (those looking for traditional Swiss'ness should look elsewhere. Large comfortable rooms with good beds and modern bathrooms. Blistering free... More

This was the base for a rail holiday. The village is very small and lacks facilities but it has a railway station half a mile away at the top of the hill from which all of the sights of the Graubünden canton are accessible. The scenery is Swiss alpine so magnificent. Our room was comfortable and had a good sized... More

I travelled to the hotel on a Shearings coach. The hotel was good, I stayed in the main building, room was good. There was no village shop, (Cafe at station), There was no bar in hotel, but drinks brought to table. I had a room at the side of the hotel. There was a river at the other side of... More

Room very spacious, modern functional furniture and decor. Good shower with constant hot water. A muilti channel TV was in the room. Wifi was available but extremely poor in room but slightly better in hotel lobby. Room 54 overlooked the river and the constant rushing noise meant that you needed ear plugs to ensure a nights sleep. Sadly the room... More

Quite a sweet little place in terms of the staff and they did cater for my sudden demand for vegetarian quite well. It's not intimate and the bar arrangements are pretty rubbish though. Bedrooms are fine and those hanging over the river and lovely.

Abulua and Juliar Hotel In the hamlet of Tiefencastel, Switzerland, what appears to have formerly been two hotels and situated on a promontory that extends into a bend in the River Abulua. Consequently you are surrounded by the sound of running water. I stayed in the Abulua side of the hotel, which appears fairly modern, pleasantly and recently decorated. The... More
