Loved our one night stay. Perfect place to stay if you are doing a road trip and want to see history. Everyone was so nice. We loved the house and the history. We were going to stay 2 nights but they let us just stay one so could make it to Oban on time. Thank you! Sam was able to...

The Traquair House is a unique place. The longest continuous residence in Scotland. Only 3 rooms in the B&B, but much, much more. Staff is great. The grounds are fantastic. The history fascinating. The house is also open for tours during the day. Guests can experience the history before it opens to the public. If you are looking for a...

If you like to stay in historic places full of charm and character, then Traquair House is for you! Spending a night at this gorgeous castle set amidst forest and hills had always been on the top of my travel list and I consider myself lucky to have spent a night in the beautiful pink room in the main part...

Magical. That’s how I’d sum up our stay. I’ve been planning our Scottish vacation for years and I really wanted to spend a night in a castle (while this isn’t technically a castle, it comes very close). This exceeded my expectations. We arrived just after 2 pm and thought we’d tour the house before checking in. Luckily, I said something...

Traquair House is a little off the beaten path but trust me it is worth the travel. Set in glorious grounds this house is a prime example of 16th century Scottish Life. The house itself is perfect for those who like a good stately home to traspe around, for me it was the grounds that set my heart a fluttering,...

A truly fascinating fortified house in a great setting with lots of interesting history in every room. Plenty to see - a Chapel, Brew House, small farm animals, great gardens, cafe and a magnificent maze. The house oozes atmosphere. Staff are some of the friendliest we have met and so helpful. Very reasonable entrance fee. Easy to find from Peebles....

The most memorable aspect of Traquair House was the staff. Everyone that we met was cheerful, enthusiastic and amusing in their own way. Upon arrival the man at the gate made you so welcome. It was late lunchtime and we went straight to the cafe and enjoyed a perfect Cullen Skink and a superb butternut squash and mushroom soup. At...

Done the tour of this beautiful historic house last year, but didn't know they done B&B in three lovely rooms within the house. With the impending approach of " Er indoors" birthday, I found myself looking for somewhere interesting to stay. That's when I came across Traquair House again. A quick phone call to a friendly girl at the house,...

Unique place to stay in Scottish Borders area. A historical house (said to be the oldest continuously occupied house in Scotland) owned by a descendant of the original family (named "Stuart," no less, for those who know anything about Scottish history, yes it's those Stuarts) you can stay in when the owners are not using it. Lovely grounds, peaceful, quiet,...

We stayed here in the Pink Room on the last 2 nights of our honeymoon and we were bowled over by the house (we had visited before many years ago but this was our first stay). Everyone was so very nice and friendly but our firm gratitude goes to Mariola, the housekeeper, who was just lovely. This young woman was...
