Lovely hotel, friendly staff, booked a double room, due to issues with frozen pipes within certain rooms, was offered one of their self catering cottages to stay in. Was perfect, clean, warm & well stocked with all items would required, As breakfast was already included in our price, just went to main hotel, only 1 min walk away. Great scottish breakfast, there other choices too. Not buffet style, cooked when you order. Welcome recommended to stay.
Traquair Arms Hotel is a lovely hotel in a great location. Very clean and well presented. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food at the hotel was really nice. Everything tasty. Not much choice on the breakfast menu but I am sure other options could be asked for if required. The parking was a slight let down - even though we did manage to get parked ok spaces were limited and if you are driving a van then moving around is a little bit of a squeeze! The room was spacious and bright but with very squeeky floorboards! Walls very thin and could hear neighbours conversation at midnight when they come up from the bar. Shower was very hot but just a dribble. Lots of good points but also a few negatives. Overall would consider staying again but may ask about room choice in future.
Room was cold when checked in, couldn't turn radiator on, was told that it was on a timer. Room not hoovered. Bathroom extractor fan and heater not working. Shower tray not draining properly to the point of overflowing. Factory stickers still on shower door. Good food for evening meal and breakfast.
Warm welcome, cosy room and very hot shower were much appreciated on arrival. Safe storage for bikes with easy access, Evening meal and breakfast were great - tasty and fresh. I left a fleece which the hotel have kindly offered to post on - thank you. Safe place to stay, popular for cyclists and bikers.
Well done to the person who recruits and trains the staff at this hotel - consistently welcoming, friendly, helpful and polite. Arrived slightly later than expected, but no problem delaying our reservation for a meal. Hotel is dog-friendly - bowl of water was brought to the table for said dog :) Room was clean, well appointed and quiet (even over the front door). Plenty of parking. Husband was walking, so thoroughly appreciated the full Scottish breakfast: I had poached eggs with smoked salmon. Perfect. Very popular destination for mountain biking and road cycling fraternity, and don't blame them. Handy for Southern Upland Way too. £110 for one night B&B seems to be going rate these days.
This was our post-ride and evening meal choice for a weekend's mountain biking at The Golfie and Innerleithen. An excellent selection of beers - although nothing for the 'brown bitter' lover - IPAs, lager or Guinness. But the Pentland IPA is a very nice pint. Top selection of whiskies (of which only one was tried by me). Very good food, although portion sizes could grow by 10-20% without becoming OTT silly. Quality and tastiness are outstanding. The Santa Cruz bar is a nice space for drinks only as opposed to drinks and food and is reflective of the village's commitment to being a grown-up outdoor playground for all. The staff are attentive, engaged, diligent and knowledgeable - knowing their drinks and food and not just parroting the label on the pump or the menu. Overall very good - only slightly small portions and lack of a copper bitter prevent this place from getting a five star rating from me.…
So disappointing, no rooms in main hotel building so we stayed 2 nights in outbuildings at rear of hotel. Accommodation was filthy. Especially the kitchen area. Kitchen floor covered in dried mud. Hob and cupboards disgusting. Beds/bedding were ok…. Towels clean. Mentioned these problems to reception on two occasions but nothing done. Bar/drinks ok…. Quite expensive. Bar food overpriced. All public areas of this ‘hotel’ would benefit from a deep clean, especially window ledges and floors. There is potential here but an effort must be made with presentation and cleanliness. An expensive couple of nights. Not value for money.
Second time staying here because it’s close to our relax house. Friendly staff helped carry our heavy bags to the room, no lift. Room clean and comfortable although a wee bit small, but who really cares about that. Good breakfast and all staff helpful. It can get very busy in restaurants so don’t fret. The price is also very fair
Came here for a few drinks outside in the sunshine. Went inside to try and get some food but the place was jammed packed! Would definalty recommend booking here as the food looked lovely! Had a few drinks and the waitress came over and gave us a couple of complimentary bowls of chips as an apology. Was greatly appreciated. Great pub and great staff! Will definalty be back ☺️
The food was exceptional,We couldn't believe how well presented and delicious it was, the service was very good too! We will definitely be going again! Loved the decor, we live in The Borders and were meeting friends who were staying nearby, overall an absolutely lovely evening!
