I have stayed here with my partner many times over the years. After the arrival of our son five years ago, we went back with him and still had a great time. The staff and owners are really friendly. Recommend especially for a weekend getaway with your partner.

A quirky motel designed by one of Wellington's top architects 40 years ago. Looking a bit tired in places but it's well equipped with a full kitchen and comfortable furniture including books and magazines (and cable TV if you must). But the real thing is the location to die for (or not just yet). Walk across the shallow dunes and...

If I had to spend a long time here it would not be long enough. The whole vibe of this place is wonderful, don't update it too much, don't redecorate it too much, leave it alone ! We chose this Motel just because it looked good in the picture, but nearly chickened out when we got there and saw the...

We only intended to stay one night on our way to Wellington, but quickly decided it should be two. We had our almost one year old and 3.5 year old and they also loved it! Lots of room for them to play and the spacious room was super comfortable and clean. The owners were fabulous and very friendly, and brought...

We stayed in the one bedroom apartment upstairs & i would recommend this one. My parents stayed in the one bedroom apartment downstairs. It...

We stayed for 2 nights at the Sand Castle Motel for the first time in a couple of years. It has recently been tastefully renovated and it's so comfortable too. Des, our host, made us feel really welcome by turing lights and heaters on before we arrived on a cold evening and he made sure we had everything we needed...

If you are looking for a flashy place in the middle of cocktail bars, the Sandcastle motel is not for you. It is an old-fashioned, architechturally unique, family run motel somewhat off the beaten track. Walking through the lovely garden grants you access to a wonderful 15 km strech of white beach with great views of the nearby island. You...
