Everything that is said about this place is true. Set on a river surrounded by rain forest. Simple accommodation but has everything you need. The meals are great, enough after an exhausting day of hiking. Two onset one overlooking the forest and the other the river. A prefect setting for a hiking holiday.

We booked this place because of the many nice picutes we found on various websites. It did not do justice to the charm. We got a western style room with fridge, shower and toilet. A private balcony with a view of a nearby stream. The balcony was even good to sit when it was raining, because of the cover overhead....

I stayed in this lodge with my husband and toddler in September 2016. Wow! What an amazing place. This lodge is located in a rainforest and alongside a clear, turquoise river in which it is possible to go for a swim (rain and season permitting; canoes also available for free). All staff members were amazingly warm and welcoming, with a...

We stayed here one night, for the last night in Yakushima after sleeping three nights in a campervan. We were tossing whether we should stay in a campervan for another night and were glad that we stayed here even for a short period. The setting is really beautiful and the staff was so nice and friendly. I was not expecting...

The lodge located in a beautiful location, the rooms are clean and nice, and above all, the staff was amazing. We had a magnificent experience. And a word about the food. We are vegan and we sometime have quite a challenge with food in Japan, The meals in the lodge were so good and fresh and tasteful, and they had...

Lovely lodges in a great secluded location - right next to the river. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was great. There are limited activities onsite - a bit of kayaking and the Onsen. However, the location is perfect for nearby hiking and easy access to town. The best way to get around in by hire car...

I couldn't rave about Lodge Yaedake Sanso enough. Firstly, Yakushima itself is just spectacular - and then the lodge is set amongst the beautiful forest and streams. We stayed in the newly built cabins near a stream, it was a western style room with really comfy beds, an ensuite shower and toilet, and the most picturesque balcony looking into the...

We stayed here for 2 nights. We were not only impressed with the amazing location: along the Miyanoura river, a 10 km drive to shiratani unsuikyo (start of the hiking trail), and close to the port. Great views from the baths either on the river, or a bamboo forest. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. we felt right...

We stayed here for 5 nights. Very helpfull staff. We loved this place!!! We had to travel by bus because we hadn't an international driving licence. But because of the place it is much easier to rent a car as they suggests. We had a great stay! Very good breakfast and dinner.

“choose the lodge called "yayoi sugi": it has a balcony on the river !!! the room called "yakushika" is the most spacious, but has a not-so-good view compared to the others... However, this is where the deer comes the most often.”
