Detailed Reviews
We arrived in Nasu just as the snow season started and Towa representative Arisman san gave me a courtesy call to come prepared with snow chains. It was a life saver! Not much snow on the lower grounds but as you make your way up to Towa, it turned into a winter wonderland. Beautiful resort with delicious restaurants. The unit was warm upon arrival and very spacious for our family of four. We also brought our pup so stayed in a pet-friendly unit with a kennel for the pup. Beds and pillows could be more comfortable but was typical of Japan. Unit came prepared with electric stove top, microwave and rice cooker. Serve-ware and dinnerware were provided and from Ikea. Toilet room was the coldest room in the home so the heated toilet seat was nice but the toilet room can be updated with a better sink and more presentable (had holes in the wall and no towel rack).
Wish the onsen was included in the fee since they charge a facility fee. We did have access to Highland Park but ended up not going(ended up buying passes and giving them back to the front desk to gift to the next family). Location of resort was conveniently close to town but had a getaway feeling. Resort shop was really small and only had snacks, drinks and souvenir gifts but grocery stores are about 15 minutes away. Public transportation is not recommended but the resort offers shuttle service (we drove which offered more options to check out Nasu and the snowboard slopes).
Overall, good stay and would stay again for the points we used.

We're staying at a 2-rooms cottage with fully equipped kitchen. Each room has 2 big single beds & a sofa bed.The unit is comfortable & even has a fire place. Hotel has a nice onsen, table tennis & tennis for rent. It also has private entrance to the Nasu Highland Theme Park which is interesting for young kids & exciting for teens to spend the whole day. The reception sell discount ticket for guest but we only found out much later.
However, the hotel accessibility is a big big problem without own transportation. The nearest convenient shop is about 15 min away & supermarket is 20 min away. Although hotel provide 3x free shuttle service to Nasushiobara train station, the timing doesn't coincide with other shuttle services provided by nearby attractions. It'll be good to add a stop at Nasu Garden before reaching the train station. During winter, the timing should adjust to coincide with the ski resort shuttle service at 8am & 6pm.

We stayed at a cottage with a hot spring for our youngest daughter and her husband and six-month-old granddaughter's first trip.
It was about a five-minute drive from the management building.
The cottage was very spacious, with three bedrooms and a Japanese-style room on the second floor, which could easily accommodate ten people.
The living and dining room on the first floor was about 30 tatami mats in size.
It was very spacious, but it had deteriorated quite a bit with age, with some of the lights on the first floor broken or broken, some of the walls peeling off, the screen door was worn out,
the hot water outlet for the bath was not working,
and all this for just under 60,000 yen a night.
I was a little disappointed, but the hot spring was better quality than the management building, a simple spring with a little sulfur, which is good for a hot spring to take with a baby.
The bed was good and we slept well. The BBQ set was a little expensive at 3,000 yen, but my son-in-law skillfully made the charcoal and cooked it, so it was very delicious. For breakfast, my son-in-law grilled miso soup and sausages for us!
I am very grateful! ,,It was a bit of a problem that there were not enough instructions for the bath and water heater, and the infrastructure, especially the lighting, needs to be updated, but we had a good time, so it passes as a cottage. The management building and hot springs are quite small, so I think it can only accommodate about 10 people,,,The spring quality is warmed by iron.
By the way, my granddaughter cried her eyes out on her first hot spring (lol), and I was surprised at the number of young people staying at the management building! It's a big success.

Overall rating is very good, highly recommended. Full kitchen available and you need to bring your food stuff before going to the resort. No mini market or supermarket around the Resort. Only family mart near the train station, you need to take the hotel shuttle bus to get there to buy egg or ice cream for example. You can go shopping at the Factory Outlet with the hotel shuttle bus. Amusement park is just next door and entrance is free, use private entrance gate near the hotel. You need to get there to know the rest of the activities. Thanks and Regards

I stayed at this hotel back in 2005, 2006 and 2008. As I remember service was excellent. French and Japanese restaurants were nice. Decent breakfast - you should not miss it. Friendly and helpful front office staff.

+1
We booked an entire house using Towa Pure Cottages. They offer a wide variety of accomodations from hotels, cottages, glamping, resort cabin/log houses, and designer houses around Nasu. Guest benefits includes free admission tickets to the nearby parks like Nasu Highland Park (rides for a fee), and Rindoko Lake Ranch.
The house that we booked is called Momijigaoka #46. It has a warm feeling with a knotty-pine interior furnished country cabin style! Windows and high ceilings bring the outdoors inside while you relax in a comfortable couch. The front deck is perfect for evening barbeques while gazing out at the beautiful nature of Nasu. Our friends grew up in Sagada, eventually worked in Baguio City -the summer capital of the Philippines- and they give this place a thumbs up. 👍🏼 The nature, the trails, the fog 😅 totally brings back the memories of their hometown! 💕
The house has both japanese tatami and western style rooms. It also has an open-air bath we all love! I usually bring my own cleaning supplies, but didn’t use any because the house was spotless. Needs a kitchen mat, dish cloth, and a hand soap tho. 😛 The only down side is there are no fans and ac’s in the rooms! We could open the windows but it wasn’t enough at least for us. 😅 Glad our friend brought 2 fans so we were able to sleep comfortably. 😚
Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Very relaxing away from hustle and bustle of the city. We had a great time with our friends and we will surely come back and stay longer this time! 😛

I love this place. It's clean and comfortable. Staff is nice. Location is a bit far away from interesting travelling point. In overall we're very happy. We will recommend this place to our friends. Next trip, we may come back to travel around as this time we miss to visit some places.

Black molds were found in window frames and had slight molds smell even having air cleaners in every room. Food was very good in price and qualities, but you need to make reservations one day in advance if you want earlier timings.
