We went there in late July as a family of three.
Since it was my family's first time in Okinawa, we started looking for a resort hotel in the Onna Village area, which is known for its blue sea and resort atmosphere, in January. A certain YouTuber said that the only hotels in Okinawa that are on the beach are on the beach, so we decided on the Monterey on the beach, which has a club floor and hot springs.

The room was a standard club floor, so it was on the top floor and had the best view on the beach side.
It happened to coincide with the Sheraton fireworks event, so we were able to see the impressive fireworks from the balcony.
The bathroom attached to the room was well received by my family, and we used the hot springs and the room bath quite a bit, which was nice.

We used the breakfast buffet for food (we also used the dinner buffet once, but it was not that great...)
The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious breads, and there were also local dishes and tacos, all of which were delicious.
The banana juice was also well received. The disappointing thing is that there is no live kitchen.

The hot springs and indoor pool were a good size and we used them often.
You can check the congestion level on the TV in the room. Towels are easily available, so it's good that you can come empty-handed.

As a benefit of the club floor, you can use the drinks at the cafe on the 3rd floor for free as much as you like.
Sandals and swimsuits are not allowed, so you can't go directly from the pool or the sea, but it's good that you can use it casually. I was able to drink tea that I don't usually drink, but the downside is that it closes a little early.

In general, there is a convenience store in the building where you can buy drinks and Blue Seal ice cream at normal prices.
Also, by not having cleaning, you can exchange it for an in-house voucher, so I made full use of it.
There are many family guests, so there is a lot of children's squealing, so it may not be suitable for people who don't like that.
The parking lot is also easily accessible. There are many restaurants nearby, so you won't have any trouble finding dinner.
The beach seems small at first glance, but it is wide and deep enough to play in.
The outdoor pool is a little disappointing for older elementary school children, but it feels relaxing.
Onna Village is an area with good access to anywhere, so if you are thinking of visiting Cape Manza, Churaumi, Chatan Mihama, or trying out Ryukyu glass, Onna Village is very convenient. There are many attractive resort hotels nearby, so it's hard to choose, but I recommend it.

Great hotel for a family vacation. We booked a deluxe room for 2 adults and 2 kids (13 and 11), with 4 single beds in the room. All rooms have an ocean view and balcony. There are separate rooms for the washbasin, toilet and shower/bath.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Most staff speak enough English (some excellent English), with a number of other languages.
Restaurants are good with a big selection of food. Breakfast is usually busy, need to down before about 7am to 7:30am to avoid queuing up, alternatively go down after 9am. Takeaway breakfast is available. Lots of nice local restaurants nearby if you fancy somewhere different for lunch and dinner.
Travel time to and from the airport by taxi is about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes during rush hour. Probably best to allow 1 and a half hours.
Kids loved the hotel and want to go back.

Luxury hotel. The pool area is very nice (pity it was so rainy, we had little use). Also the beach would be nice in a better weather. The snorkeling trip from the hotel's Marine Center was nice and well organized, although a little expensive.
The restaurants at the hotel are overly expensive, we could not eat there (cheapest menus over 10 000 yen, and they only have these set menus). At lunch time, you can buy some hamburger etc. at the pool bar.
There are some restaurants close to the hotel at the street, which are nice and reasonable.
The location is a little distant, it takes 1 hour by bus to American Village (where you would have shopping and more restaurants). In this area, if the weather is bad and you cannot use pool/the beach, there is not much to do.
Room was very nice with a sea view.

I cannot honestly recommend this hotel to anybody.

We stayed here for several days in March. It was our first trip to Okinawa and we were excited to visit the beautiful island. Everything in the island was a wonderful experience, including the friendly people, scuba diving, restaurants, and shopping.

BUT, every night having to come back to this hotel was absolutely the worst. The room smells so bad it makes you want to wear a mask in the room (which we did). If you complain about it to the management, they give you a dirty look and say that you are too sensitive. The breakfast lines are always long, the food is so so at best, and my children were treated very rudely by the staff. I can't believe these people are Japanese, since Japanese are usually friendly but these people maybe from somewhere else.

I cannot honestly recommend this hotel to anybody. It made our entire trip downgraded and every night and every morning we were in such a bad mood just because of the hotel. We really didn't want to go back to the hotel in the evening and tried to stay out as late as possible just to spend as little time possible in the hotel.

PLEASE read the other reviews about this hotel before booking and save yourself.

We are finishing our 8 nights in Okinawa with 3 spent here. The hotel has fabulous security and is very spacious. We are fortunate enough to be on the 10th floor in the middle, the views are nothing short of breathtaking.

We have the superior twin, it’s my mom and I so perfect space for us. The fridge is small though so not a lot of storage but the bed is reasonably comfortable but very firm. The air conditioning works well. The bath is very nice with a shower and tub combo. There is a separate water closet so allows for more privacy.

The buffet breakfast is superb. A lot of local cuisine as well as American choices. The juice bar is full and the coffee is freshly made per cup.

We treated ourself to afternoon tea and I promise this is a must do!!! We took advantage of the eco friendly room cleanings and received hotel credits to offset the cost. The deserts are exquisite!

There are laundry facilities on site as well as a very nice gift shop where we did a lot of our shopping to take home,The prices are reasonable and seem to be the same wherever you go so if you see it most likely it’s same price elsewhere.

We walked down the hill for sightseeing and there are many restaurants within 5 min.

The hotel is huge but easy to learn.

The WiFi works well in the room but spotty in the lobby areas.

Very easy beach access.

The exercise room doesn’t open until 9 and they do charge but it is much more of a spa experience than other hotels.

We would definitely return.

This was my second time and I chose a slightly larger room. I can't remember what it was like last time, but the bathroom and toilet were separate and the balcony was spacious, so I could relax comfortably.
I was on the third floor, so the view from the balcony wasn't that great, but it was still satisfactory.
It was their 10th anniversary, so I guess it was about their second year last time. It still feels new.
It's in a good location with a beach, pool, spa, and nearby restaurants.
There are also plenty of marine activities at Tiger Beach Club.
They will pick you up and drop you off in a cart from the parking lot a little further away.
The restaurant where breakfast is served is actually on the same floor as the front desk, and you can enjoy the same menu, so it's relatively quiet.

Huge hotel (sometimes you can even get lost) on the west coast of Okinawa, with various services and attractions.
The rooms are very large, clean and well furnished in a classic style, with an exceptional view of the ocean.
There is a private beach (beautiful and relaxing, but perhaps there is better), a large swimming pool and a SPA area (very basic), as well as several restaurants for every taste and origin.
Exceptional breakfast, you can find practically anything (I recommend booking entry via a dedicated application, so as not to have to wait too long, entries are limited).
On the beach you can also find a shop that organizes excursions.
The staff was always very friendly and helpful.
Absolutely recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights and regretted not staying for more days! The hotel gave us free upgrade to bigger room (maybe cause of convid 19 not much tourist. But still a very nice gesture. Room is very big and the balcony faces the sea directly. You can visit the beach which is link to the resort at level 1. Breakfast was great! There are 2 restaurant to choose from (buffet style or Japanese bento style) we tried both and were great! The carpark is at the basement and the parking fees is 500 yen per day. It doesn’t matter if you exit and come back it will still be 500 yen. We paid 1000 yen for parking 2 nights stay. The location of this resort is also very convenient, walking distance to lots of restaurants and convenient store (Lawson and family mart). If you drive it is also near to cape zanpa, manza and some other attractions. The only downside is you have to pay to access the indoor Swimming pool and gym. I would come back again when I visit okinawa next time! The service here is great too!

So first the only good points:

1) all the rooms face the ocean so great view
2) the room we got was spacious.

And now the bad points which are way too many for a ‘4 star’ hotel at this price!

1) the mattress are thin and cheap you can feel the springs in your back.
2) the food is reheated from what looks like frozen. The selection is always the same, every day. So for anyone looking for a long stay, be warned.
3) the beach is payable and so is the swimming pool and gym, seriously?! After the price we paid x night.
4) some staff are nice but we got the distinct feeling some are also racist to foreigners. Maybe because we have higher standards of service and actually point it out rather than conforming.
5) the beach is poorly maintained and the umbrellas are planted on the beach with rubbish sacks of sand covered over.
6) the swimming pool is slippery and looks like the base lining has not been changed in a while. They charge you for some sun-beds, again ridiculous.
7) there is no room service, no way to get a coffee at a bar before 12, and prices at the market are 3x more than just outside.
8) only 3 restaurants are open and you always have to wait to enter. What happens when the hotel is full.
9) once you enter the restaurant, the service is shocking. They don’t fill up your glass with water. They don’t take the plates away regularly and the portions are ridiculously small. You can pay extra for a more premium menu. Haha. Everything is geared to getting as many extras from you as possible.
10) there is not flexibility in anything. Everything is very backward and the customer is not king here. We asked for a change of booking for a yoga class. They said no and charged us a cancellation fee.
11) we asked for a late checkout and they said it would be 5,500¥ an hr extra! After a 9 night stay? The audacity is crazy and the hotel is empty.

You make your own mind up but all we can say is WOW! 🙄 I’m a frequent traveller and can safely say that this experience has been the WORST ever!

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Monterey Okinawa. The hotel has a charming old British European theme and even features a small museum.

The service was excellent, and we were treated to breathtaking sea views. The beach was just steps away and remained stunning regardless of the weather.

The buffet breakfast offered a great selection of both Western and Japanese dishes. It also comes with basic gym and laundry facilities.

We enjoyed relaxing in the hot baths in our room each evening and waking up with a full seaview to a new day. The hotel also had a convenient souvenir shop for any last-minute shopping needs.

Will I want to be back to Okinawa? Yes. Will I want to stay at Hotel Monterey Okinawa again? Absolutely.
