The reviews on all the sites were good, so I made a reservation six months in advance.

The staff were all very friendly,
and I stayed for five nights, and felt at ease from start to finish.

When we got home, my five-year-old started crying, saying he wanted to eat the brown sugar croissant and brown sugar butter for breakfast again, which surprised me (lol).

That's how delicious and memorable the breakfast and dinner were.

There was a typhoon during the stay, but the response in an emergency was amazing,
and I was impressed by the hospitality of the staff, even though they were tired every day.

I understand why, even if I stay at various hotels,
I always end up wanting to come back to this hotel.

I always read reviews,
but I never write one,
but I was so moved by my stay that I decided to write one for the first time.

We had a nice girls' trip to the Kariyushi Beach area in Onna. The resort was nice and accommodated us very well. We started with a snack in the bar area, sitting on the outside deck. It was nice, but there were not many food options and only beer, no wine or other mixed drinks. The room was nice, clean and spacious with a balcony. We had a fabulous experience in their spa, including the use of the sauna, hot tub and cool bath, followed by a 90-minute massage. We went to Jams Steakhouse for dinner (20-minute drive south). The following morning we had a nice breakfast buffet (included) in their restaurant and then took the shuttle to the beach. There were many activities to do at the beach, for an extra charge, but we just enjoyed walking around, exploring, and relaxing. I think my biggest disappoint was the beautiful pool they feature on their brochures can only be accessed from the Executive Suites on the top floor. The concierge opened one of the rooms for us so we could see it, but I thought that was a little misleading. I've included a picture of the pool, but remember it's only located in the executive suite rooms!

We stayed at the Exes Hotel for 3 nights. We had a very large room on the 8th floor. The room was tastefully furnished and had a view of the sea. There was a private lounge where we could have tea, coffee and a nightcap. The buffet breakfast was also very good with plenty of choices. This hotel is so well run. There is a shuttle bus to the beach. The beach is lovely but it is catering for children as the beach is netted off and the water is too shallow. We used our car to find other beaches in the area.

First, I want to write a bit about my adventure in finding a place to stay in Okinawa, then i will get into this hotel specifically. I found it extremely difficult to plan this part of our trip because it's so difficult to get a feel for what Okinawa would be like from information online, so i want to try to help any non-Japanese speaker in the future with their planning as much as possible!

About finding a place to stay:
When I travel, I like to stay at unique boutique-style places and I like traveling in style. I wanted to find a quaint, unique, boutique-like experience on Okinawa that we could use as a jumping off point for day trips, lazy beach days, scuba diving, and maybe some sightseeing. I spent weeks and weeks pouring over every place on trip advisor and booking.com, I actually opened the map feature and clicked every single place that was 4 or 5 star rated. I found one place that fit my description (Hyakuna Garan), but it was booked fully in the middle of our stay, so ended up not being able to stay there. Because Hyakuna Garan was my ideal place, i asked them where else i should stay. They suggested Spa Resort EXES and Busena Terrace - both of which we ended up staying at during our 7 days on Okinawa.

About Okinawa in general:
Be prepared for major issues with language barrier here. Of our 4 week trip through Japan, this was the only place that gave us trouble. Our time here was relaxing, but it was also frustrating at times.

The drive from the airport area takes a lot longer than you think and there aren't a lot of public transport options. If you want to do more than just hang at your resort, make sure to factor that in. We chose to stay about 1,5 hours north of the airport, which meant we couldn't get to tons of attractions (Like the military/war memorials in the South), and it's pretty expensive to get around. Make sure to ask your hotel in advance about transport options and the prices. Due to transport limitations, it would also be a good idea to schedule your inbound our outbound flights around times that you will actually be able to use the cheaper transport options, otherwise that off-peak travel budget ticket you purchased on Peach.com might not have been worth it when you add up how much more you're paying for a private taxi to your resort 2 hours away :(

Okay, now onto Spa resort EXES (comparing to Busena Terrace, right down the street):
The good - Their breakfast was amazing! Their rooms were huge and beautiful. The turn-down amenities were fantastic. The pajamas and Okinawan salt cookies you get on your pillow were great touches and the soaps and lotions in the bathroom were l'occitaine - super high quality.
The bad - It's not next to the beach - it's a 15 minute walk or a quick shuttle ride. The beach and the outdoor pool close at 5pm, which was a bit disappointing. There wasn't much to do at all on the "resort." it's really just a hotel and a pool. The spa treatments were insanely expensive, so we skipped those, and the dining options left a lot to be desired outside of breakfast, so we took a cab into town almost every night. Also, as noted before, the English level of nearly all staff was staggeringly poor, so be prepared to be disappointed and frustrated, unless you get the ONE lady at the front desk that is somewhat fluent.

Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a resort experience, do not go here, go to Busena.

Had a wonderful time at this hotel for 3 nights with my 2 teenager kids. Room are luxurious spacious, love the coffee making machine. Got the room with the perfect view but I was totally disappointed with the buffet breakfast(though it's inclusive for my room rate) I am comparing with the usual Jap. hotels which I had stayed in most of the cities there.

You can choose 1 out of the 5 eggs cookiing method each day and the sunny side up / over-easy were terrible, besides, really not much choices to choose from the buffet, everything is perfect besides this weakness. I may try their sister hotel next door if I will go back again! More restaurants to choose from!

We had a very nice and relaxing stay in Exes. It was not too big resort as some others. Elegant interior and very tidy. Amazing view. Nice pool. Good breakfast. Big room which included everything you need, also a view to the sea (superior room).
The staff was very frindly though a few spoke good English.
Restaurants, supermarket, bus stops and beach nearby. They also had a shuttle bus to the beach and supermarket.
Would come again!

We had a really good time at this hotel. The rooms were nicely furnished, spacious and rather luxurious. We booked early and got a very good rate. Upon our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our package also included 1 free dinner and free lunch and free afternoon everyday! Unfortunately our days were too packed to go back to the hotel for lunch and tea but we did make use of the free dinner which turned out to be excellent.
The staff was very helpful, and assisted us in booking golf sessions, dinner reservation and kayaking trips. Despite very limited English-speaking ability, they tried hard and demonstrated what service-oriented means. On our last day, as we had to leave early to catch a flight, they arranged for packed breakfast for us which turned out to be a generous and tasty affair!
The facilities and amenities were very thoughtful. They were also generous with complimentary bottled water, snacks and toiletries. I was told that the in-room coffee was top-rate too.
An absolute gem!

I stayed this hotel with a friend of mine for the last day of our travel in Okinawa.
The room was more gorgeous than we expected, and our room was located on the higher floor than we thought when we made the reservation, so we thought we got a free upgrade.
The view from the room was wonderful with the beautiful ocean.
The staffs are all nice and kind, and whenever we asked for any help, they responded sincerely, so we always felt good.
Our stay plan had a breakfast, which had many kinds of menu and we enjoyed some foods with local ingredients.
We stayed at this hotel just for one night this time, but I hope I could stay longer so that we also could enjoyed the private breach and the swimming pool.

This is my second visit to Okinawa. This hotel has really big rooms, our room has 3 beds and a tatami area and small terrace. The amenities in the room are well thought of and supplies plentiful. The only thing that perhaps can be improved is the parking arrangement. You must valet park instead of parking yourself. I really feel bad for the valet staff as they are literally running themselves tired, parking and running around shuffling cars around. At peak times expect to wait to have your car delivered. The hotel also do not have universal adapters for your electrical appliances, so bring your own. Other than these two points, I really like this hotel and would recommend it. The staff are very helpful and polite.
