Joe very friendly, welcoming, helpful. Food good. Guesthouse clean. Linen clean. Nice visitors. But WARNING: GUESTS ARE LOCKED OUT OF THE HOUSE FROM 10am-6pm each day. In winter this is an issue for anyone who is unwell, needs a rest day/half day, does not want to ski, wants to check in before 4pm. This needs to be made much clearer...

Good stay, keen off piste skiing enthusiasts from all over the world. Joe is very helpful and the food is good but to avoid misunderstandings the daytime occupancy restrictions need to be more prominent in the online information.

I was quite speechless when I arrived at the accommodation because I don't think I have ever witnessed a more beautiful nature of this kind. The guesthouse itself was a lovely house owned by a family whom took care of us and made us feel incredible welcomed! The husband drove and picked us up to and from an onsen which...

My husband and I stayed one night at Akaneyado in early October. October isn't prime tourist season for Furano/Biei, but the beauty is still well worth the trip! The guest house is located in the middle of farm land. There are gorgeous views of the land with the mountains as a backdrop. You can choose between western or Japanese style...

I spent two nights here. The room was clean and tidy and I slept very well. I like the view nearby very much, just full of green and make you feel comfortable! You can see many stars full of sky at night.

I spent two nights here recently and it seemed to be a full house both nights. The reasons for its popularity are apparent. Lovely, friendly hosts- Mr Joe is always laughing and chatting away. Great, home cooked meals. Simple, cosy rooms. It is located in the middle of picturesque farm land and all the best sites are easy to reach...

If you're looking for a welcoming cozy guesthouse with great host and home-cooked food (I enjoyed every meal) and a place to meet new friends, then this is the place. I spent 3 nights here during last summer and I'm really glad I made this decision. This is truly value for money. I opted for full board because it is a...

I stayed here over the New Year holiday. After flying from Osaka and taking the train from New Chitose, getting picked up from Nakafurano Station made the trip that much easier. The shuttle service in the mornings and evenings made it easy to get to Furano for skiing. No need to figure out how to get my gear to and...

Stayed at the hostel with my sister for 3 nights. I think we arrived on a Sunday evening and Mr Joe brought all the guests to his friend's restaurant for dinner. Food was good too! Beautiful scenic views in Furano. Shuttle bus runs right outside the hostel at specific timings. Driving is highly recommended. The shuttle bus driver refused entry...

We checked into the Akane-yado Farmstay after a long drive from Asahidake. The drive there was very scenic, passing through Biei and Furano. Akane-yado is located within a vast area of farmlands of all kinds of crops, mainly grains, particularly rice. The usual way of navigating through GPS which is based on the reference of the destination's telephone was not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We strongly recommend Akane-yado Country Inn because the owner, Mr Joe-san is a very kind soul. The sunset and starry night views from the patio were fantasic and both the dinner and breakfast cooked by Mr and his wife, were very delicious and nice. The hightlight of our stay was the episode of a good nature and kind soul of Mr Joe-san had protray, and he had become our Saviour and Hero.My husband, not knowingly had dropped his passport at Naka Furano Station while waiting for pick up by Joe-san to his country inn. We stayed on 19th June 2011 for 1 night which was the 3rd Day of our 14 Days Free & Easy Trip in Japan. The next morning on checked out, Mr Joe-san sent us out to Farm Tomita. In the farm, my husband realised that he had lost his passport with the 14 Days JR Pass in it. We called Mr. Joe-san and he came to the Tomita farm in within 10 mins and drove us to Naka Furano Station to search for the passport but to no avail. He then drove us to the police station and became our interpretator to communicate with the police. The police found the passport with the JR Pass still in tact. We were very grateful to Mr Joe-san and we are still grateful to him. He had taken an extra mile in his service to extend his valuable help to us when we were so lost then, and he had saved our Japan holidays as we still had 11 days to travel. Without his help to find the passport, our holidays would be ruin and cut short. We sincerely expressed our heartfelt gratitude and wish to say: "Thank You Very Much, Mr Joe-san" Everything is beautiful when there are such nice people around us! ... more   less
