Be prepared to take a 1.5 -2 hour bus ride to this Onsen resort..... a bit too remote ! We paid a lot extra in advance for the special menu with hairy crabs.... honestly with the price we paid, we can have better hairy crabs elsewhere, not worth the money, our suggestion, stick to the basic menu... For overseas tourists,...

This is a ryokan style hotel with hot baths. Unlike a traditional ryokan, meals are served in a restaurant rather than one's bedroom. The breakfasts and dinners are exceptional and in my opinion worth the cost of the stay alone. It is kaisekei style with many courses (up to 10 at dinner) focussed on quality seasonal and regional produce. The...

stayed for 2n in a japanese style room overlooking the hot spring buildings. the hotel has two separate onsen areas, new and old. both are quite nice in their own ways, the old one is dilapitated in a cosy and comfortable way. however, the outdoor pools on the old side are under a roof and fenced in, thus not as...

The dinner was the best we've had in Hokkaido, with baked abalone in salt crust (don't eat the salt!), soup served in a delicious melon, good nabe etc etc (but shouldn't we expect that since we paid $500 per night?). However, the ropeway near this hotel is not the famous Daisetuszan sounkyo - it's a nice pond overlooking flowers, but...

Good location - easy access to the Asahidake Ropeway. The room was pretty basic and a little tired... the lobby is a bit soulless and the staff, while attentive didn't seem to be too welcoming... but the food was really good - several course, tasty sashimi and nabe. Wasn't too sure about the abalone in a thick salt crust but...

Even though both of our nights here had rain, it made for a misty magical experience. The staff was welcoming and some spoke English. Please note that they have set times for breakfast 7 or 8am and dinner 6 or 630. It is a set menu so if you have dietary restrictions or are not used to real Japanese food,...

This place was the most relaxing of the hotels we stayed at in Hokkaido. The stream rustling near our room and the cool weather in June was great. Also a good base from which to visit Asahidake. The kaiseki was interesting and good. We enjoyed our stay very much.

I didn't have much expectations when I booked this ryokan as I had expected it to be much the same as the rest. How wrong I was! Yukomanso exceeded all of my expectations! To start off, we nearly couldn't find the ryokan as it was snowing quite heavily and it was getting dark. The resort had a different look covered...

For a one night stay before or after doing the peak - it's fine. Very good dinner (and breakfast), genuine greetings from the staff - the inside onsen buildings have been renewed and we visited in June '13 one of the 2 outside baths was closed - and the other was tiny. Hotel interior feels a little shabby and dated,...

My father and I stayed over at Yumoto Yukomanso in June 2012 and it was a delightful trip. This Onsen hotel served some of the most delicious food either of have encountered in Japan so far, especially fresh local vegitibles and seafood. The rooms and baths were nice but nothing special. Both men's and women's baths have nice rotenburos (outdoor...
