Time becomes irrelevant here when you stand facing a glorious sunrise with : a 14th century Pandya temple on your left and a 17th century Danish fort to the right. Come taste ‘eternity’ in a stopover ! The restored Bungalow stands as a reminder of Ove Gjedde, a Danish Admiral sent by the king of Denmark with two ships. They were well received by the Nayak ruler of Tanjore, and given this territory for trading. Then Dansborg, the Fort of Tharangambadi – a solid example of Scandinavian military architecture, was established nearby to store and export pepper to Denmark. The oldest Lutheran church in India was built here in 1706. Today you can drive in through a beautiful gate of the majestic King Street, past Lutheran churches and grand bungalows of the Danish Governors’ and the British Collector’s residence. Re-live marine history; visit the temples of Kumbakonam and Tanjore. The town remains a glorious tribute to architecture from across the world. Tranquebar is reputed to have the thickest ozone layer in India which is ideal for relaxation as it rejuvenates and helps all those who want to prolong their life.

Great location. The place has history and although it has been renovated, don’t expect modern conveniences of a 5* hotel - like a good shower or 24x7 room service. Had a pathetic experience. This place used to be so good, few years back. But now, the service is terrible. The swimming pool was filthy and staffs suggested to use to still use the swimming pool which was dirty and infected with bugs. The maintenance of the property has also diminished and the overall experience was very disappointing. This is an extraordinary property located facing the Bay of Bengal but due to lack of maintenance and pathetic service, has lost its shine. During my recent stay, I have lost hope in the Neemrana brand. Very cheap experience!!

Our dedicated team initiated the cleaning process promptly from 10:15 am, completing it by 2 pm. However, you wanted to swim in the rain and wanted to use the pool at 7:00 am. We value your insights, and your comments will be instrumental in addressing and improving our services. We have been visiting this property since 2008 and this must be our 30th visit. But this time we had the most comforting experience with Mr Ranjith and his new team.. The ambience has improved alot since last few years and the staff feel more welcoming. Small touches to the ambience were most needed for this beautiful property. We loved our Stay this time.

The tagline "non hotels" for Neemrana is pretty accurate. The Bungalow on the Beach is a lovely, laid-back way to live the colonial lifestyle right on the beach. All the historical sites are accessible by foot and it is also a wonderful way to stroll through the different neighborhoods and interact with the local residents. When available, the staff are attentive and the food is excellent. However, the bungalow (as a hotel) is in need of some corporate TLC - some upgrade to the facilities and furniture, as well additional staff especially when it is fully booked up. The company could also offer more guidance and services when it comes to tours and excursions, instead of leaving the guests to entirely fend for themselves.

The location is its biggest selling point. Located right next to the sea, the colonial charm of this old but renovated building will definitely provide great memories that we ll take away. A stroll by the beach, coffee at the verandah, waking up to the sunrise are some of the things that one ll enjoy at the property. The manager / incharge of the property Mr Vinod ensures your stay is pleasant and attends to your every need. The hotel is definitely understaffed but vinod and ilayabharathi somehow pull it off. Will definitely plan another trip with family again

It was an absolute pleasure to be back at this quaint beautiful non hotel, hotel Every year we come here , have been regularly coming since last 4 years . This time too we had a great time, we were highly impressed by housekeeping quality which seemed to be much upgraded than our previous visits , so was the kitchen and the staff at front desk. Mostly we heard a lot of no's for everything, but this time it was very very positive and different, staff and management were in complete harmony .
