We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A short walk to see the snow monkeys complete with gumboots provided by the hotel. Fantastic service and a great dining experience. We had an enormous Japanese style room with our own hot bath. Highly recommended.

We only managed to stayed one night as it was booked out. Nice onsen, room and food.. There is a cosy coffee lounge (free flow coffee or tea 😁) overlooking a courtyard garden. There is even a heated Swimming pool.

This place has really nice Onsen and it is also the closest hotel to the Snow Monkey Park - to access the park is it however 1,6 km path (one way) everyone visiting the place have to walk. The lobby of the hotel looks like people's hall somewhere in China - large and grand in old fashioned way. However the...

This elegant hotel is a special treat if you want to experience an upmarket, formal traditional onsen hotel. From the moment you step into the expansive foyer overlooking the gardens a sense of calm prevails. Rooms are traditional with tatami mats and futons. Our room had private bathroom. Yukata are provided for guests to wear while at the hotel. The...

We stayed for one night in between visiting Tokyo and skiing in Hakuba. We had wanted to visit the snow monkey park and also wanted to stay in a ryokan, this provided both for us. Initially we were surprised by the size of the hotel, it was much bigger overall than we had expected, however it was still very quiet...

This Ryokan is very nice and good value in my opinion. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is well presented and tasty. The garden, grounds, and onsen is also quite nice. Would stay again without hesitation.

Classy, relaxing and beautiful. If you are searching for a wonderful experience with a belle epoque taste then this is a great choice. Nearby, at walking distance you can experience the Monkey park and Shibu Onsen Village. If you are going in couple or family you can rent also a private onsen room. Definitely recommended.

Lovely hotel with nice rooms and close by Jigokudani, home of the world-famous "snow monkeys". Service is friendly with delicious food and the Onsen (hot spring) is relaxing especially after a short walk to see snow monkeys enjoying hot spring.

Wow! Excellent hotel – one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. The staff treat you as though you are special and the customer service is a lesson for other hotels to follow. Waitresses dressed in traditional style, onsen, the food – everything is geared for a perfect total Japanese experience. The nine course evening meal ranks as one of...

This was ideally located to visit the Snow Monkey Park. It is a traditional Japanese hotel offering a great Japanese experience - half board of Japanese evening meal and breakfast - the hotel also has a number of onsens which were great to use. There was little else at the hotel in terms of facilities. It did have a shuttle...
