We risked booking 7 nights at one place and are so thankful we did. Shergarh sits in a beautiful setting, a small lake surrounded by trees, a spacious main building and individual tents well apart from each other. Our tent was large, nicely decorated, a large comfortable bed and en suite shower and clothes storage area with a separate toilet. Water is heated by wood and was always piping hot. What really made our stay was the staff, so friendly and welcoming, after a day or two we felt that we were with caring friends. Catherine manages with a discreet but firm hand, Raj, our guide, was even more excited than us to see tigers and was also an excellent bird guide, his daughter Aaisa was always anxious that we had all we needed. Although we were really well looked after, the staff vigilance was never intrusive, the sign of professional management. The food was varied and the healthy fresh lunches were ideal. Food was on a buffet basis and quantities available were always generous. We did several early morning walks with Raj in the nearby buffer zone forest, which is truly beautiful and well worth getting up early for, especially when you come back to a great breakfast overlooking the lake! We did four safaris with Raj and saw three tigers, which seems to me to be a pretty good score. As I imagine you’ve already guessed, we really liked Shergarh; a pity it’s so far from Europe1

I felt compelled to write this review after a fantastic two night stay this weekend. I hadn’t visited Kanha for almost 10 years and of course a lot has changed since then, but in terms of the level of hospitality, service and guiding I experienced at Selgarh, I can only write positive things. Catherine and the rest of her team showed genuine warmth and hospitality. From the initial welcome to the final farewell, I was made to feel like family, despite it being the utmost professionally run operation, with seamless fluidity and organisation throughout. The tents are beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and have everything you require and more. For those who feel the need to be connected whilst in the bush you will be pleased to know the wifi is fast and reliable and available throughout the lodge. For those travelling from abroad who are concerned about eating in India, leave your concerns at the door, all your dietary requests will be meet and more, the food is home cook, authentic, delicious and attractively presented, and perfectly safely to enjoy in its abundance! Raj guided me throughout my stay and he is the consummate professional, his knowledge and passion is clear to see and he drives with due care and attention, with an honest respect for the environment, wildlife and other vehicles. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Kahna, look no further, you will not be disappointed.
Catherine, Raj, Aisha and the rest of the team, a sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart, I look forward to returning in the future.

We spent 3 nights at Shergarh and had a very memorable stay. The camp is wonderfully peaceful and secluded and the tents are the comfiest we have ever stayed in! They are spacious and tastefully decorated, and provide everything you need for a stay including lovely natural toiletries.
It’s the little touches that really make staying at Shergarh unforgettable. The wake up call with coffee or tea at a time you request, the hot water bottles in your bed when you return from dinner.. the whole experience is very intimate and thoughtful.
The food was phenomenal and was a highlight of the trip. The breakfasts during the morning safari drives were lovely, as well as the light and healthy lunches and the delicious buffet style evening meals.
The safari drives were amazing, we were lucky enough to see 4 tigers (in 4 drives) among lots of other amazing wildlife. We also did a guided bike ride through local villages and a nature walk on our last morning which were both real highlights. Shout out to Raj who is incredibly knowledgable, experienced and passionate and really made the trip for us.
Jehan and Katie have created an idyllic paradise surrounded by nature, one that everyone should visit!

This is an awesome place to stay. The really big safari type tents - with very comfortable beds - are set in gorgeous grounds around a lovely lake you can swim in. There’s lots of screening greenery to give each tent plenty of privacy and lots of wildlife to watch. Delicious food is served in a spacious dining room; sometimes breakfast and lunch is served up around the grounds which gives some variety. The team here have been here for ages and it shows (in a good way!). It is brilliantly organised, and guests are thoroughly looked after with thoughtful touches - flannels and lime juice served on return from safari; hot water bottle in the bed when temperatures dropped unexpectedly etc etc. Extremely knowledgeable guides lead wonderful walking and jeep safaris. There’s so much incredible wildlife to see around here. Sure there are tigers, but the birds, bees, butterflies, deer, wild dogs etc are just as awesome and are much easier to find! We also did lots of bike trips on v comfortable and newish mountain bikes which were a lot of fun and a great way to explore the area. Most of the other guests were regular returnees and is it’s easy to see why.

This was our first trip to India and we were so glad we chose Shergarh when visiting Kanha Tiger reserve. We had good accommodation thought India but this was our favourite place. The tents were lovely looking onto the pond. Being January it was cool in the morning and night so we enjoyed sitting by the log fire before dinners and the hot water bottles in our bed at night. It felt very homely. The food was excellent, staff friendly and Catharine our naturalist was superb.

Shergarh is situated just outside the buffer zone for Kansa reserve making it a great location to start wildlife tours. The accommodation is set around a couple of spring fed lakes which attracts plenty of bird life. The tented accommodation is clean, tidy and well equipped including Wi-Fi in each tent. After lunch relaxation is very peaceful. The owners, management and staff are very pleasant and will all they can to help. Food is typical Indian, tasty and plentiful. A good choice to stay if you are planning safaris to Kansa Reserve.

Shergarh is now one of my favorite places. The beautiful grounds surrounding the main building and the tents immediately calm the soul. The tents are beautifully decorated , the beds are comfortable and the food is the best. The staff from the safari guides to the grounds keepers are professional and friendly. Each tent has a porch with cushions and a quiet space to sit and read or write in your safari journal. Large bathrooms with plenty of counter space. The morning coffee delivery before your safari drive sets the tone for the day,

We stayed at Shargarh with two kids (3+5years) for seven nights in November and it was WOW!!! Amazing staff, great food, incredible service. Our tent was huge and equipped with everything we needed. A great glamping experience. The Safaris were perfeclty organized and an just fabulous. The whole place is so beautiful and embedded in an amazing nature setting. Tea/coffee/milk/biscuits in the morning was so nice and we enjyoed all the meals, together with the guests and staff. Special thanks to Aisha, the kids still talk about you!! If you've stayed in any luxury African tented safari camps then this will make you feel right at home! Everything in our stay here was just about perfect, and it provides the perfect retreat from the madness of nearby Kanha. The hosts are delightful and welcoming, with a real focus on great homely service, the luxurious dining area and lounge a lovely setting for the evening, and the chef is a genius! The tents are spacious and well appointed, each being provided with its own wifi dongle so this doesn't intrude into meal times. Wood heated hot water provides plentiful showers. The camp has its own drivers and is a short 10 minute drive to the park entrance. We found them to be very good and knowledgeable about the Park. A delightful place to stay and would highly recommend.

Wow where to start when describing how wonderful our time was at this magical place. The warm and friendly atmosphere as well as some of the most helpful and knowledgeable staff made it a truly amazing holiday. A special thank you to Catherine and Aaisa for arranging such lovely tours and looking after us so well. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the camp to our friends.
