I don’t think I would be able to do justice in writing how wonderful of a trip it was. The jungle lodge is one of the cutest most hospitable resorts that I have been to. I feel like I have been very lucky to have some of the best lodges in the past few years, especially jungle lodges. Karan and his wife were amazing. Every evening I looked forward to catching up around the bonfire with my friends as well as Karan, his wife Isa, as well as Kush and Sam (our naturalists). Dharam was always ready to feed me delicious snacks and soups while we shared our days events as well as listening to the different stories. I felt like one big happy family. I wish I could post the sound of laughter and love that resonated as we sat and talked. We took 4 safaris plus one night safari. Although we saw tigers only on two of them, the safaris themselves were so much fun. Our best sighting was our night safari! I think eveyeone should go just for the experience even if you don’t end up seeing a tiger. Kush and Sam constantly shared their knowledge and stories with us and before the end of it we had two of my friends who decided that they could actually do bird watching and not just tiger watching. At every step, Sakib bhaijaan, Kush and Sam would ask if we are ok, do we need anything, can they do anything more for us ? Our guide Dinesh was a barrel of laughs, Knowledge and energy! He made every safari a different experience. By the end of the trip, I felt like I had known Sam and Kush forever. My daughter one day was not well and skipped a safari. Everyone at the resort kept an eye on her and Isa even went and checked on her. Karan allowed her to take the jio dongle to her room as she was on her own. I was so touched by the way they handled the entire situation. The trek by the water is something I wouldn’t want anyone to miss. Wading through the water, having coffee by the banks and seeing the sunset was beyond words! The meals at special places were one of my favourite events. They would take us for lunch and dinner to a different place in the resort and set it up for us. It was magical. Hope I can visit here annually! The only thing I would say, I would try to improve the food a little. I enjoyed the khoy suey and so did the whole group. However, we felt the food was something that can be improved a little more. The bathroom in the rooms might not be most apt for families. So something to think about when booking.

We had a memorable holiday, a total ‘Kanha’ experience, which included thoughtful warm hospitality at the Flame of the Forest. Loved the food and the magical settings of the Alfresco lunches & dinners. The safaris in the beautiful Kanha forest organized by the lodge’s naturalist & sighting 6 tigers made my dream come true. This include lone tigress, lone tiger and three cubs & the tigress in three different sightings in three different zones of Kanha over. I missed the dip in the river next to the lodge but the sights & sounds of joyful splashing of my grandchildren made my experience vicarious. Catching up in the evenings around the bonfire under the night’s sky closed the magical days

This camp was our first introduction to India after many safari trips to Africa and it did not disappoint in any area. From the initial greeting when we arrived to the morning we left, there was nothing that we could find fault with. This is small, slightly rustic but extremely comfortable camp, run with precision by owner Karan and his wife Isabelle, camp manager Jenny and the rest of the team. The cottage type rooms are excellent, plenty of hot water, very comfortable bed plus an outside day bed if required. The main lodge area a great place for meeting up after the morning and afternoons game drive. Our meals there were excellent, using local produce and the levels of spice did not trouble our European palates. Our guide for the entire stay at the camp was Amit who proved his worth on the very first game drive by finding Dhawajhandhi (or DJ) with 5 cubs. The excitement that this sighting generated is hard to describe! Amit was also great company and had a terrific sense of humour so this added another layer to a very enjoyable 4 night stay in Kanha. We were both indebted to Isa for letting us "borrow" the wifi dongle one evening to allow us to follow the Ireland v Scotland 6 Nations rugby match on our phones. That indeed was a level of service we did not expect!! We cannot praise this camp too highly, anyone wishing to visit Kanha will not be disappointed in choosing Flame of the Forest as their base for visiting the National Park

Karan is a force of nature. A wonderful host with great knowledge on the drives and a terrific sense of humour and a very welcoming wife in Isa. The accommodation is wonderful with great lodges and refreshing outdoor waterfall showers. The food is great and alcohol flows generously (if you want it to. My wife and I did). We would love to return one day.

What can I say about this place! A true magical wonder which set our holiday ablaze! In all my holidays so far, this was the best, including my European sojourn! Right from getting the best safari bookings, enquiring about our food requirements before we even landed there and making sure we had an awesome stay, Karan was there through it all. The rooms give us a rustic feeling and the theme of keeping them true to its native form made it all the more special. The food was scrumptious, cooked with locally sourced ingredients and each meal outdid the other. Not just serving us awesome food, the setting for each meal was at a different location which made it all the more unique. The naturalists made sure we were there at the right place at the right time cos we had 3 amazing sightings of the great cat out of 4 safaris that we did, which according to everyone was very lucky! Taking care of the minutest details like giving us hot water bags for our morning safaris and at night to help us with the chill and the personal touch to everything made all the difference to us. A big thanks to Karan and the entire staff for making it a memorable holiday, can't wait to experience the Drenmo lodge with you ll again.

I could run out of superlatives describing our stay at Flame of the Forest. Karan and Isabelle were great hosts and have a brilliant team. The setting of the lodge overlooking the river, is lovely and the main lodge area a great place for meeting up and relaxing. Our meals there were so enjoyable, with log fires to keep us warm on the chill evenings. Really added to the atmosphere. All the staff ensured that food choices and spice levels were fine for our British level of chilli heat tolerance. My coffee (essential to my wellbeing) was perfect! Amit our guide was AMAZING!! He was so incredibly knowledgeable, great company and a great sense of humour. We all saw and learnt such a lot on our trips our with him. He spotted a grey headed lapwing- a 1st for Kanha. A top notch naturalist. Our whole experience was so special and one I will always treasure. THE place to stay in Kanha.

We spent 3 nights here and it was one of our best holidays. Right from receiving us at the gate, to waving goodbye as we left - the team was hospitality all the way. Before we reached Kanha - Karan took care to enquire if we had any dietary restrictions and also made the safari bookings based on our input. We went on two safaris as our stay was short. We did not have any tiger sightings but the jungle is full of other animals and rich flora fauna. The morning safari especially was a wonderful experience. The food at the lodge was amazing, local home cooked meals, with Dharam serving us attentively. The lunch was served at different venues, at different locations by the river. At night small bonfires were made to keep us warm and naturalists Amit and Jain keeping us entertained and informed about wild life. Mr Karan kept inquiring from time to time if all was ok. The review will be incomplete if I don’t mention the resort decor, it was done with painstaking details - giving an earthy rustic feel yet having all the modern comforts. The mud walls of the resort seemed to blend into the surrounding jungle. The Tulasi plant in the courtyard to the ringing bell for calling - all added to an old world charm. No out-of -place potted crotons or fancy flowering plants sticking out. The safari lodge is on the banks of the Banjar river - sitting here doing nothing other than hearing the animals and bird calls gives you lot of peace and relaxation. The best thing about this place is there is no TV and the staff help you with mobile connectivity if you really need it. But who needs 3G and 4 G connectivity when you have all the peace and quiet to connect with nature??!! I want this place to remain like this for ever so that I can come again and again and experience the calmness. Thanks Mr Karan and your entire team.

Fourth stop on wildlife tour in Madhya Pradesh and the best location. In the jungle by a river, just four cottages. We were the only guests for two nights and were treated to a different location for every meal. We were looked after by Durum who was a star and he had a lovely sense of humour. Ahmed was our naturalist and he tried so hard to give us the best experience. Kahna is renowned for its tiger sightings but we were unlucky. There is so much else to see and the Flame of the Forest is an amazing place to stay. A full day safari to Phen is also recommended.

Absolute Luxury Bliss Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes flame of the forest such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly hospitable and kind. Karan and Esa go out of their way to make their guests feel happy. They truly made sure we had and absolutely amazing time. I travelled with family of all ages and the purpose of our trip was to relax and rejuvenate and that was totally achieved. The rooms are extremely clean and neat. The food was great. The safari drives were informative and very successful with animal/ bird sightings and the vehicles were the most comfy we have had at the lodge. Amit and jain were doing their best to make sure there was never a dull moment. They were really engaging and knowledgeable. I really appreciated the small details such as the hot towels and drink every time we arrived at the lodge. These small details made the biggest difference. The conversations around the bonfire were filled with laughter and information about all experiences and life stories of talent and intelligence. The main host Karan and Esa were so engaging and attentive, they enhanced the whole experience to another level. Their hospitality is infectious. If anyone wants a superb location, excellent services, top notch food, great staff and memorable safari drive experiences then I’d recommend Flame of the Forest every time. It’s truly Fantastic in Every way.
