Excellent varied menu. Superb Taster Menu. Nearly all fruit and veg grown organically onsite. Otherwise, meat, fish etc., obtained from local high quality producers. Even all the preserves served are made in the kitchen. Also the entire wine list is organically sourced. This hotel claims to be the greenest hotel in the country. I can well believe it. The automatic...

Received a TRAVELZOO voucher as a gift, sadly, however was discouraged when I rang to ask if we could add another nights stay, the lady I spoke to was very abrubt and kept interupting me, not at all welcoming, explaining the offer had finished. I asked would she be prepared to compromise perhaps we could meet half way as the voucher...

Another fantastic stay with a friend........a fantastic rest from the business of work n busy family life.........wonderful peaceful accommodation and gardens. Great bar well stocked with real ales wines and various rums gins and whiskeys. Absolutely the very best food fresh and perfectly cooked by eddie and his team. Fantastic, lovely, friendly staff! The rate was £115 per night (including breakfast), so definitely on the expensive side for us, but the service more than made up for the price. The only other advice that I'd offer is to ask for a room on the garden side, not on the street. It can get a little noisy at night with...

This is a most attractive pub/hotel with lovely gardens at the rear. The food is superb and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and attentive and very helpful. The rooms are really comfortable with all the usual additional touches that you would expect in an establishment of this quality.

We were booked in by a charming young man, Alex. Room fine for us. This is an old building so not like a modern, corporate hotel. We must have chosen the hottest day of the year so really enjoyed the garden. We loved the eight course tasting menu - very different. No good if you are not adventurous with your...

We came here last week on a Travelzoo deal. When we arrived there was no one on reception and we had to search the depths of the pub to find someone. eventually we found a young girl who checked us in. The room was clean and comfortable if a little small. The single beds were very comfortable, but being used...

Lovely traditional pub/hotel. Really lovely room, spotlessly clean, great staff and fabulous food. We had the 8 course taster menu and the ordinary menu and both were wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay - would certainly return.

We used a Travelzoo voucher but added another night so we could explore the area. The room was nicely furnished with added extras, tray of fruit and ground coffee with cafetière. Plenty of parking and very convenient for Hadrian's Wall. Eco friendly/green hotel with beautiful gardens. Very nice accommodation.

We bought a travelzoo deal for this hotel and were stunned by the great food. We had the 8 course taster meal and it was superb. Each course was small but the tastes were amazing and after 8 course we were full. The cooked breakfast was excellent and the different preserves at breakfast so good we bought some when we...
