Booked by a really good friend I haven't seen for 5 years. She came from London I came from North West Lancashire. We travelled by rail and it took each of us approximately 7 hours each. The taxi from the station to the hotel was £27 each way. We spent over £100 just getting to and from the hotel and...

Last Thursday we stayed at Battlesteads Hotel in Wark. We were shown to our luxury lodge room which was very spacious and comfortable, with complementary fresh fruit in the fridge. The evening taster menu was utterly delicious with wine to compliment the food. The evening was extremely enjoyable and informative, served by very attentive staff. We will definitely be going...

Room - excellent, spacious, on suite, clean Staff - welcoming, willing to help Dinner Menu - 7 tasty delicious game courses and dessert with matched wines, Breakfast - multiple choices, not covered in oil or fat, local produce, lovely. The only small disappointment was the table layout at dinner. Without rearranging the tables there was no way to inter-react with...

We have visited on several occasions and it never fails to impress. The new lodges are brilliant - loads of space and very comfortable. Chef Eddie and his team produced an imaginative and delicious 8 course taster menu. The staff as always couldn't be more helpful. This place deserves all the awards and accolades it receives. It has that elusive...

Very spacious and comfortable room with all the usual touches, fruit, hot drinks tray, bottled water and fabulous toiletries in the huge bathroom. I love the walk in shower!! We booked 2 nights including the 8 course tasting menu and observatory session, expecting to be able to walk part of Hadrian's wall during the days. The weather was really wild, wet and stormy but we found enough to enjoy inside in the area. The wet weather made us really appreciate the large comfortable bedroom with a leather settee to...
