I'm a big fan of the restaurant & setting of this hotel usually having lunch with friends. It is always very good. I wasn't disappointed with our family dinner. Fantastic service, excellent food & enjoyed every moment. There was a bit of a delay with pudding but when it arrived

We were a party of 12 booked in for dinner to celebrate a birthday. As there was so many of us we were asked to pre order our food which we did, sometimes a little suspicious of pre orders as the food can be prepared much earlier and can be served looking a bit tired. No so.

I haven’t written my review for St Elizabeth house yet because we had a slight problem with them. Rather than jump on the band wagon and leave a bad review I thought I would leave it and wait. All I can say is the problem was sorted fairly and dealt with accordingly! So our

The las time I visited this hotel it was in the middle of summer and the hotel didn’t respond to my request for a fan & even with the windows open the heat during the night was stifling. Fast forward to January and another 400 mile trip from Durham and I ( foolishly it turns out

Response from Stelizabeth, General Manager at St Elizabeth's House
Responded 3 weeks ago
Thank you for your feedback. We try not to respond to comments left on here as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. In this instance however we felt that some pieces of this could be misinterpreted so we would like to express what happened. When you stayed during the heatwave we had last summer you expressed your disappointment that the fans we had were already being used by other guests. The receptionist at the time took it upon herself to jump in her car, go to the nearest electrical retailer and purchase some more fans. Unfortunately due to missing some tools she was unable to construct the fans that evening. You were informed of the actions taken when you check out the following day. For some reason this information seems to be missing when you wrote your last and current review. On your recent visit the receptionist sent somebody up to you immediately. She was then on the phone to the engineer and phoned you back within 10 minutes. Due to the hotel being busy we offered you an upgrade to the only room we had available which was our Master Suite. This was declined. The receptionist then phoned back the engineer who in turn talked her through checking that everything was ok with our hot water system. He confirmed that everything was running efficiently and another phone call was made to you to confirm this. Once you checked out we sent the house keeping team in immediately to check the hot water and it came through straight away. I am sorry that you feel our actions lacked empathy.

I remember our room had a safe, but don't recall seeing a fridge. Best to ring reception to confirm which rooms have fridges.

Considering it is a hotel the prices are really reasonable and they have a great selection of beers and wines, also do great coffee and tea.

Our wedding was here. The dance floor won't be big enough for a full drum kit etc and dancing. Ask the band if they can scope it out to confirm though
