Owner operated quirky house for people looking for something out of the ordinary. Gorgeous garden with great views especially from the huge conservatory. Unusual Asian/African feel bedrooms with no wardrobes, just pegs. A sense of fun is the theme and there is opportunity to meet and mingle with other guests.

We stayed for one night after visiting the Bath Christmas market. Bath centre is 20 mins away by car.

Our room was clean and had a lovely view over the garden and neighbouring field.

Breakfast had lots of choice and was delicious!

We ordered a pizza for delivery which turned

Hi Katie and Paul I'm so relieved to hear that the pizza incident didn't ruin your stay and I will certainly remember you for that. You were both very calm about it but as you saw I was very annoyed which is why I had to sort it out with them. Hope you found somewhere nice to stop off on your way home. Best Rowena

I can't work out who you are but thank you very much none the less. Although I'm intrigued, as I like to thank my guests personally with a personal message, I hope you'll take this as a heartfelt thank you anyway. Best Rowena

We chose The House at very last minute and were so glad we did! Talk about a wow factor! It's an old rectory and looks more like a country house hotel than a b and b. The rooms are immaculate. The breakfast was superb (everything locally sourced) and the hosts, Michael and Rowen

Very kind words Gary and I am sorry your stay was so brief also. I was rushing around like a madwoman at breakfast as so many guests came down at the same time so I didn't get much time to chat to you and Debbie but what little time I had was most enjoyable. I shall always remember you for sharing my affinity with street lights!! We got cut off on the phone as we were talking about the mysterious belt left in your room. It really is a lovely belt and perhaps someone who stayed with us recently may just be reading this (!) and lay claim to it! Hope to see you two again but of course only after the street lights are in.... Best Rowena

This was my first visit to The House and, oh, how I wish I'd found it sooner. It really is the loveliest place to stay from the welcome I received from Rowena and Mike, who staggered upstairs with my luggage which was far too much for a few days stay. Not even a sigh did I hear

Liz that was a phenomenal review and you went to the trouble of going into so much detail about everything! What really touched me was your observation of everything and the fact that it was obvious you liked my rather quirky designs. It's not always to everyone's taste so you made me very happy. And your lovely thank you note was very much appreciated too. I have no doubt you'll come again as you said and don't worry about it being last minute. We are used to that from our business guests so don't feel you're imposing. And I shall look forward to more little breakfast chats...... Rowena

First of all, this place is like a castle. Couldn't believe the grounds. Mike and Rowena are so personable, and inviting. We could talk with them for hours. The rooms were amazing. The bathrooms were completely tiled and high end. Best part was playing with the cows next door. Th

Greg you loved my grounds as much as I do I think! It was the gardens which made me first want to buy this place as it is so rare to find such amazing trees and in such a rustic garden. A beautiful manicured garden just wouldn't be for me. So to have someone else see the charm of it is most ingratiating. Are you and Sarah still going back and forth to Boston or maybe you've settled. I remember our lengthy conversation about it during breakfast. So please give Sarah my best, wherever she is, and thank you for the lovely review. Rowena

If I'm coming into Bath by train, what type of transportation could we get to the location? Taxi? Uber?
There is a bus every 30 minutes from Bath Bus Station that takes you to within about 50 yards of the property. The bus journey takes about 25 minutes.

Watched your story on Hotel Inspector, curious as to why you you ditched the 'Monks Spring' rebrand?
I’ve just watched the same TV show. And I am also interested in the answer!

Why is it not called monks spring?
I am a wheelchair user and require level access to the venue and the rooms/breakfast area etc... Are you wheelchair friendly?
You can definitely access ground floor by wheelchair. There is a lift so it's wheelchair accessible.
