Stayed here for one night only but I wish had more. Great rooms, breakfast and location. Particularly like the idea of an eco friendly hotel.
The location is perfect too as its only 15 minutes from Salzburg city centre.
Cannot believe anyone could find fault with this hotel (b & b). Have been coming with friends & family for many years. It is not surprising that so many people rate it as excellent. It is our pearl of a stay on route to Italy....More
Stayed 2 nights at the Sallerhof in September 2017. First stayed here in 2004 and really enjoyed our return visit. Hotel is larger these days but the family run hotel remains a favourite. Free off site parking, lovely breakfast and very comfortable room. Salzburg is...More

Yes it will be a big change... Cold, (~25-45f) typically grey, and either rainy or snowing. It's unusual in my experience that someone from the states will be wo a car, but the public transport in Europe is excellent. Get yourself a mobile (downloaded) schedule. Check out the multi day passes. Seems odd that you ask from the teain station or airport. Very few flts serve Salzburg.
You might be surprised to find the Christmas markets still open. There are several. Austrian's will spend their leasure walking and enjoying the coffee houses. There's plenty too see. If the Untersbergbahn is re-opened, take a trip up if you get a clear day.
