Stayed overnight following a lovely meal. Rated 5 Star on B & B Guest house not hotel. Lovely place still has the old beams in places. Our room overlooked the square, gorgeous with large king size bed and separate bathroom with huge roll top bath. Great in room facilities and free Wi-Fi. Great nights sleep followed by full Welsh breakfast...

We combined our visit for dinner with an overnight stay and we found the accommodation excellent. The standard of the room and furnishings were exemplary, the bed large and comfortable with crisp white linen and the provision of quality toiletries. Sleep quality was excellent in the quiet town of Montgomery leaving us with a perfect night’s rest and feeling relaxed...

We stayed overnight following a tasting menu experience in the restaurant itself. There are only a small number of rooms, however, they are exceptional. Everything you need is provided to the highest standard and is hard not to enjoy. Homemade biscuits welcome you together with a range of delightful teas/coffees and a jug of fresh milk in the fridge. Last year we had a wonderful evening at the Checkers, and resolved to return , which we did last weekend. After a long drive up from South Wales, we were warmly welcomed and taken to our very pretty bedroom. Falling asleep almost as soon as I had demolished one of the delicious cookies, we woke to find it was almost...

We dined at The Checkers to celebrate with 2 friends our joint 50th Wedding Anniversaries in 2016. We all loved the 5 course tasting menu, the fantastic though not overpowering service, the decor and the atmosphere. The food was without exception and in each and every course sensational. The platter of bread in its many delicious forms made us aware...

Our visit was a treat from start to finish: a warm welcome set the tone for the friendly, efficient but unobtrusive service that followed. Aperitifs and appetisers were excellent, the eight course tasting menu never put a foot wrong and the wine pairings were the best I've had. Many of the wines were not ones I would usually drink but...

We treated ourselves to a 5 course taster menu and stayed overnight mid week in February. Delightful hosts and staff. Beautifully presented bedroom and dining room and the evening meal lived up to expectations, as did breakfast. Montgomery, though small, is worth exploring for its historic buildings, dramatically positioned castle, impressive church and amazing Bunners hardware emporium.

Valentine's Day and my wife and I had booked the special taster menu at The Checkers, a real treat from start to finish, nine courses and at the end we had no room for the final offering of a French cheeseboard, with accompaniments. So many courses, each very different and all delightful, we shall definitely be back!

We stayed here for my husbands birthday and we were thrilled. Our room was beautiful. Lovely furnishings and little touches like fresh home made cookies along With loose leaf tea helps to make things feel even more special. Although we faced the road, it wasn't noisy. The bed was quite hard but not the worst! Check in and out was...
