We have just spent a very enjoyable 3 night break in the Hawnby Inn. The room was sparsely furnished but spotlessly clean with a large comfortable bed. The bathroom has recently been refurbished to a high standard. Dinner offered a good choice of dishes and the food was tasty and well presented. All staff were friendly and efficient and owner...

Characterful English inn. Lots of atmosphere and good real ale. We stayed for two nights for my wife's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the Inn and the surrounding countryside. Local towns and abbeys in abundance. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Enjoyed the varied menu and dinner but not sure about the garlic breakfast mushrooms!

Stayed on 23 September for a one night stopover, welcomed by the barman and shown to our room, lovely room called Heather, previous comments were a bit nit picky, it was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and talkative, the owner Dave was on hand also friendly and chatty. The meal on the night time was nothing short of...

booked this through Groupon as the reviews were good. Our room called 'Heather' was shabby with the paper hanging off the ceiling in a few places....the bathroom had carpet in it and black mould on the tiles....not a good look for a supposedly 4 star rating awarded a few years ago and it looks like standards have slipped. Food was...

We stopped here to enjoy some walking and did just that. The Inn was lovely, the room we stayed in was compact but had everything we needed so we were very happy and it was in the old converted stable block which suited us down to the ground. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay all...

This inn was very comfortable. The owner, Doug, was very friendly. We arrived early and our room was clean and welcoming. It is simply a charming, local country inn in the middle of a lovely village and stunning countryside. We had supper and the food was fantastic! It was seasonal and local, and as North American travelers that was very...

This was our second stay, we thought it was a bit run down from our last stay. The garden was full of weeds, and there was an old freezer, a parasol etc, which spoiled the garden. Our room was small, but ok. The en- suit was good, but the inside of the door was covered in dirty fingerprints. The bedroom I...

This pub is in the most gorgeous setting, and oozes atmosphere - unfortunately, like a lot of oozes, it depends on your taste. The staff are lovely, and we were given a good Yorkshire welcome as one would expect. The place is actually quite run down, although the owners have obviously tried very hard to make the most of what...

I stayed one night with my mum and our 8 month old puppy. We had a lovely time and were made to feel very welcome despite mum having dementia and the dog being a little boisterous. We stayed in the old stable block annex and were very pleased with our comfortable room. This is a lovely place with friendly people...
